Peace and Development Council Senior General Than Shwe sends message of
felicitations to President of Portuguese
Yangon, 10 June - Senior General Than Shwe, Chairman of the State
Peace and Development Council of the Union of Myanmar, has sent a message of
felicitations to His Excellency Mr Jorge Fernando Branco de Sampaio,
President of the Portuguese Republic, on the occasion of the National Day of
the Portuguese Republic which falls on 10th June 2003.

level multiplier course for primary dental and oral health care service of
rural people was opened at Basic Education High School in Taninthayi
Township on 30 May morning.

Yangon, 9 June - The third meeting of ASEAN-Japan Committee on
Comprehensive Economic Partnership continued for the second day at Grand
Plaza Parkroyal Hotel this morning.

Yangon, 9 June - ASEAN
Secretary-General Mr Ong Keng Yong and delegates from ASEAN member countries
arrived here today to attend the ASEAN Senior Economic officials
Meeting-3/34 to be held here from 10 to 11 June. They were welcomed at the
Yangon International Airport by Director-General of the ASEAN Affairs
Department U Aung Bwar and officials.

delegation led by Director Mr Vo Minh Quang of the Radio The Voice of
Vietnam-VOV, Bureau in Can Tho Province, together with officials of the
Myanma Radio and Television visited Drug Elimination Museum at the corner of
Hanthawady and Kyuntaw Streets in Kamayut Township this afternoon, where

296 grams of
heroin seized in Bhamo
Yangon, 9 June - A combined team comprising members of local
intelligence unit, Bhamo Special Anti-drug Squad and Tatmadawmen on 9 May
seized 210 grams of heroin from passengers Laungkyan and his wife Ma Hnin
Thwe, and Nan Hla Kyi and 86 grams from Ma Aye Khant and Daw Hkon Hlyant
after searching a passenger van car en route from Namhkam to Bhamo at the
Gaikhtaik check point.
