Than Shwe sends message of felicitations to Georgia
YANGON, 26 May - Senior General Than Shwe,
Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of the Union of Myanmar,
has sent a message of felicitations to His Excellency Mr Eduard
Shevardnadze, President of the Republic of Georgia, on the occasion of the

Raw opium seized
YANGON, 25 May - A combined
team comprising members of the local intelligence unit, Myitkyina Special
Anti-drug Squad and local police force, searched three bags bearing the name
of Daw Aye Maung on No (49) Naba-Myitkyina train at Hopin Railway Station on
15 May. The authorities found 14 packages of raw opium weighing 19.15 kilos
hidden under jaggery in the bags.

YANGON, 25 May - A combined team comprising members of local intelligence
unit and Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, searched a Hilux
vehicle with number plates 4Ka/4206 at Phayangasu Checkpoint in Thazi
Township on 7 May and seized a package of raw opium weighing 1.633 kilo from
passenger Tun Sein, son of U Tun Hla of Peinin Village, Bamauk Township.
