inspects excavations of Beikthano old city, Bagan palace site and regional
development works
 YANGON,
24 May- Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council General Khin
Nyunt, accompanied by member of the State Peace and Development Council
Lt-Gen Ye Myint, ministers, the Chief of Staff (Navy), deputy ministers,
officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office, departmental
heads and officials, left here by air yesterday morning and arrived at
Bagan-NyaungU Airport in Mandalay Division at 8 am.

 YANGON, 24 May - The ceremony to hoist Htidaw atop ancient
Lawkananda Tooth Relic Pagoda built by King Anawrahta in Thiri Pissaya
Village, Bagan-NyaungU Township, was held at the pandal on the platform of
the pagoda this morning, attended by Secretary-1 of the State Peace and
Development Council General Khin Nyunt.

Marijuana seized
in Kyaikto
YANGON, 24 May - A combined
team comprising members of the local intelligence unit, Bago Special
Anti-drug Squad and local police force, acting on information, on 9 April
searched two suspects, Thein Than and Thet Aung in front of Nway restaurant
near Yangon-Mottama road at Satthwachon village in Waw Township. The
authorities arrested Thet Aung together with 1 kilo of marijuana and Thein
Than escaped from the restaurant.
