YANGON, 11 May - The donation ceremony to mark the birthday of Presiding Maha Nayaka of Tipitaka Maha Gandayon Kyaungtaiks, Mayangon Township, Yangon Division Tipitakadhara Dhammabhandagarika Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Sumangala Lankara (Ph.D) was held in conjunction with the ceremony to honour Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita and Maha Vinaya Kovida Guna at the five-storey Thirimingala Anandha Gonye Kyaung of the Kyaungtaik this afternoon.

YANGON, 11 May - Member of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Thura Shwe Mann of the Ministry of Defence this morning inspected digging of drains for smooth flow of water into Shantegyi Creek-Zalokgyi Yekyaw Creek at the border of Dagon Myothit (South) and Hlegu Townships and agriculture and livestock breeding tasks at the Vegetable Cultivation and Poultry Farming Special Zone-2 of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council in Hmawby and Hlegu Townships and gave necessary instructions to officials.

YANGON, 11 May - The Special Appellate Bench comprising Deputy Chief Justice of Supreme Court (Yangon) U Than Oo, Supreme Court Judges U Khin Maung Aye and U Chit Lwin sitting at court room No 1 this morning delivered judgements of four special civil appeal cases. YANGON, 11 May - Chairman of Dry Day Supervisory Committee Minister at the State Peace and Development Council Chairman's Office Lt-Gen Min Thein and member Deputy Minister for Hotels and Tourism Brig-Gen Aye Myint Kyu divided into two groups and supervised dry day inspection groups which were checking use of Tamadaw and departmental vehicles this morning.

YANGON, 11 May - Minister for Construction Maj-Gen Saw Tun, together with Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Myint Thein and officials, inspected Kale-Gangaw road on 6 May. Senior engineers of Kale District and Sagaing Division reported on progression in construction of the road and tasks being carried out.

Sanitation tasks and unblocking of drains inspected

YANGON, 11 May - Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Myint Swe, accompanied by Vice-Chairman of Yangon City Development Committee Vice-Mayor Col Maung Pa, inspected the sanitation tasks and dredging of drainage being carried out in Yangon by Tatmadawmen, member of Myanmar Police Force, staff of YCDC, and members of the Union Solidarity and Development Association, Red Cross Society, Auxiliary Fire-Brigade, Maternal and Child Welfare Association and Women's Affairs Work Committees today.

MV Hannara of ROK arrives at Nanthida jetty

YANGON, 11 May - Minister for Transport Maj-Gen Hla Myint Swe welcomed the training ship mv Hannara of Korean Maritime University at Nanthida jetty here this morning. Also present were Deputy Ministers Brig-Gen Kyaw Myint and U Pe Than, Ambassador of Republic of Korea Mr Lee Kyung Woo and embassy staff, department heads under the ministry.

Stimulant pills seized

YANGON, 11 May - Members of local intelligence unit and Bhamo special anti-drug squad and local police force, searched a Jeep with number plates 3/kha 2256 on its way from Muse to Bhamo at Kaihteik checkpoint on 6 April afternoon. The authorities found passenger Mahaw Yawmai carrying 1,150 stimulant pills - 65 brown ones and 1,085 green ones - in his knapsack.
