SURA
insurgents kill 4 villagers, wound 4
Yangon, 4 May-An SURA insurgent
group arrived at a farm in a forest near Naungpan Village, Kun Hein Township in
Shan State (South) at 10 pm on April 29, 2003. They found 11 villagers there and
asked them to assemble at a place and opened fire on them with small arms. Due
to the attack, four villagers were dead, four were wounded and three were
missing.

column, acting on a tip-off, on 8 April carried out a raid on two huts (Estimate
map reference K-834067) in Tonai-Mawhtaik region, Kongyan Township, Shan State
(North), where opium was refined.

Traffickers sentenced
Yangon, 4 May - Ma Aye Aye San
and Ma San Ye were arrested with 4.899 kilos of raw opium at seat No 25/26,
carriage No 1 of Mandalay-Myitkyina up train at Shwebo Station by a combined
team comprising members of the local intelligence unit and Ywataung Railway
Police Force.
