YANGON, 3 May - The prize presentation ceremony of 10th Singapore Association of Myanmar Golf 2003 was held at Traders Hotel on Sule Pagoda Road here this evening. Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council General Khin Nyunt attended the ceremony.

YANGON, 3 May- Journalism course No 1/2003 conducted by News and Periodicals Enterprise of the Ministry of Information was opened at the hall of the New Light of Myanmar Daily on Strand Road this afternoon, with an address by Minister for Information Brig-Gen Kyaw Hsan.

YANGON, 3 May-Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Myint Swe, accompanied by Commander of No 3 Military Region Col Tint Hsan, member of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Division MPF Police Col Aung Daing and officials, yesterday afternoon inspected construction of roads and streets in wards on the other side of Hlaing River, in Kyimyindine Township, Yangon West District, and gave necessary instructions.

YANGON, 3 May - Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Chairman Yangon Command Commander Maj-Gen Myint Swe and Minister for Communications, Posts & Telegraphs Brig-Gen Thein Zaw, accompanied by USDA CEC member in-charge of Yangon Division Col Maung Pa, officials and specialists, inspected development works in Cocokyun Township this morning and fulfilled the requirements.

Respect paying ceremony to be held

YANGON, 3 May - The Government has conferred Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Title on Presiding Nayaka of Ramanya Waiponlataik Thwaysaykan Mon Pali Tekkatho Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita Bhaddanta Mahathe (Thanle Village). A ceremony to pay reverence to the Sayadaw will be held at the monastery of Thanle Village in Hpa-an Township, Kayin State, on 11 May (11 Waxing of Kason).

Heroin blocks seized

YANGON, 3 May - A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit, Muse Special Anti-drug Squad, local battalion and police force, acting on information, searched the house of U Gam Maw at No 82, Ward-4 in Monkoe, on 21 April morning and seized 162 heroin blocks weighing 2.43 kilos hidden in the kitchen of the house.
