Senior General Than Shwe and wife Daw Kyaing Kyaing to pay State visit LPDR

YANGON, 2 May — At the invitation of the President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic His Excellency Mr Khamtay Siphandone and wife Madame Thongvan, Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of the Union of Myanmar Senior General Than Shwe and wife Daw Kyaing Kyaing will pay a State visit to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in the near future.

Gamone Dam opens in Bago Division

YANGON, 1 May — Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council General Khin Nyunt, accompanied by member of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Maung Than, ministers, deputy ministers, officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office, departmental heads and officials, left here by helicopter this morning and arrived at Gamone Dam in Okpo Township, Bago Division (West), at 9.15 am.

Drug traffickers incarcerated

YANGON, 1 May — A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit, Yangon Special Anti-Drug Squad and the local police force, acting on a tip-off, searched the Room 407 at the Eastern Hotel on Bo Myat Tun Street in Pazundaung Township on 31 July 2002.
