Shwe sends message of felicitations to South Africa

April - Senior General Than Shwe, Chairman of the State Peace
and Development Council of the Union of Myanmar, has sent a
message of felicitations to His Excellency Mr Thabo M Mbeki,
President of the Republic of South Africa, on the occasion of
the Freedom Day of the Republic of South Africa which falls on
27 April 2003.

April - The opening ceremony of the archway at Alodawpyay
Monastery of Dhammaçariya Tekkatho, the cornerstone laying
ceremony of the two-storey building of Pitakat Mawguntaik and
the merit sharing ceremony were held at Alodawpyay Monastery of
Dhammaçariya Tekkatho in Dagon Myothit (Seikkan) Township,
Yangon Division, at 8 am today, attended by Secretary-1 of the
State Peace and Development Council General Khin Nyunt.

Heroin and raw opium seized

April - A combined team comprising members of the local
intelligence unit, Myitkyina Special Anti-drug Squad and Pinbaw
Police Station, acting on information, on 25 March searched
Thein Zaw Nge's house in Nankhoin Village, Mogaung Township, and
seized 54.6 grams of heroin in four soap boxes.
