Senior General Than Shwe sends condolence to Serbia and Montenegro

Yangon, 14 March — Senior General Than Shwe, Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council and Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar, has sent a message of condolence to His Excellency Mr Svetozar Marovic, President of Serbia and Montenegro for the sudden death of His Excellency Mr Zoran Djindjic, Prime Minister of Serbia on 12 March 2003.



Princess Sirindhorn concludes royal visit

Yangon, 14 March — Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of the Kingdom of Thailand left here by air for home at 8 pm today after conclusion of her royal visit in Myanmar starting from 10 March.

Wellwishers offer ‘soon’ to members of Sangha

Yangon, 14 March — Under the patronage of the Yangon Division Peace and Development Council, wellwishers held a merit-sharing ceremony for the offering of ‘soon’ and rice to Sayadaws, on whom Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Title and Agga Maha Pandita Title were conferred under the Notification No (1/2003) of the State Peace and Development Council, and  Sayadaws, who attended the third meeting of the Fifth Central Working Committee of the Sangha, at the Maha Nayaka Kyaung Hsaungdaw on Kaba Aye Hill here this morning.
