( 1 ) Secretary-1 receives national race leader of Kachin State Special Region-2

Yangon, 18 Feb -Chairman of the Work Committee for Development of Border Areas and National Races Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt received national race leader of Kachin State Special Region-2 U Lamon Tu Jaing and party at the Tatmadaw Guest House on Inya Road this evening.

 Also present were member of the State Peace and Development Council Maj-Gen Ye Myint of the Ministry of Defence, Minister for Progress of Border Areas and National Races and Development Affairs Col Thein Nyunt, Vice-Chief of Military Intelligence Maj-Gen Kyaw Win, the deputy ministers, the director-general of the State Peace and Development Council Office and heads of departments. They discussed matters pertaining to transport, hydroelectric power generation, agriculture, livestock breeding, tourism, wood-based industry and regional economic development.

Work coordinated for development of Myanma gems industry

Yangon, 18 Feb - A coordination meeting on development of Myanma gems industry was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Mines, attended by Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt. Also present were the ministers, the Attorney-General, the deputy ministers, members of the Leading Committee for Development of Myanma Gems Industry, officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office, heads of departments and enterprises under the Ministry of Mines.

 The Secretary-1 said that systematic measures are being taken for the development of gems industry in accord with Myanma Gemstone Law, and it is found that the State is earning more income from the sale of gems. It is necessary to allocate mining blocks systematically in accord with Myanma Gemstone Law. He invited all to take park in the discussions. Then, Minister for Mines Brig-Gen Ohn Myint reported on the increase in income gained from the sale of gems and development of the gems market. Chairman of the Gems Supervisory Central Committee Deputy Minister for Mines U Myint Thein reported on condition of gems mining blocks and mining of jade and gems by the government and entrepreneurs on a mutually beneficial basis. The meeting ended with concluding remarks by the Secretary-1.

( 2 ) Secretary-1 inspects preparations for consecration ceremony, Buddha Pujaniya of Lawka Chantha Abhaya Labha Muni Image

Yangon, 18 Feb- Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt, accompanied by officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office, arrived at Mindhamma Hill in Insein Township at 6.30 pm today. The Secretary-1 was welcomed there by Mi-nister for Religious Affairs U Aung Khin, deputy ministers, officials, technicians and members of the Pagoda Board of Trustees.

First, the Secretary-1 paid obeisance to Lawka Chantha Abhaya Labha Muni Image. Then, officials reported on preparations for holding the consecration ceremony of the Buddha Image and Buddha Pujaniya. The Secretary-1 gave necessary instructions. Next, the Secretary-1 inspected preparatory tasks for holding the consecration ceremony of the Buddha Image and Buddha Pujaniya. Then, he gave necessary instructions and left the Hill in the evening.

( 3 ) Consecration ceremony, First Buddha Pujaniya of Lawka Chantha Abhaya Labha Muni Image on 23-27 Feb

Yangon, 18 Feb- The Lawka Chantha Abhaya Labha Muni Image, the highest and largest marble Buddha image in the world, has been built with goodwill and donations of the public under the leadership of the State Peace and Development Council Government, on Mindhamma Hill in Insein Township.

 The consecration cere-mony and first Buddha Pujaniya of the Image will be held on Mindhamma Hill from 23 to 27 February. Before the ceremonies, the Parikamma programme will be held from 17 to 22 February and members of the Sangha will recite Maha Pathana Desana from 20 to 22 February. On 23 February morning, Soondawgyi will be offered to Lawka Chantha Abhaya Labha Muni Image.

At 7 am, the archways of northern and southern stairways of Gandakuti Kyaungdawgyi will be inaugurated in conjunction with the ceremony to open the two foot-prints of the Lord Buddha. On the opening day, wut associations will recite religious verses from 10 am to 6 pm; verses composed in honour of the Lord Buddha, that of the Rays of the Lord Buddha and that of Lawka Chantha Abhaya Labha Muni Image will be recited to the accompaniment of the Myanmar Orchestra and the modern music troupe from 7 pm to 9 pm; and the audience will be entertained by the Anyeint troupe from 9 pm to 12 pm and movies will be shown the whole night.

At 6 am on 24 February, vegetarian soon will be offered to 1,000 members of the Sangha in front of the Gandakuti Kyaungdawgyi; wut associations will recite religious verses from 8 am to 6 pm; the Myanmar Orchestra and the modern music troupe will present songs and music from 7 pm to 9 pm; and those present will be entertained with dances of the Anyeint troupe from 9 pm to 12 pm and movies will be shown. On 25 February, wut associations will recite religious verses from 5 am to 6 pm; the Myanmar Orchestra and the modern music troupe will present songs and music from 7 pm to 9 pm; and those present will be entertained with dances of the Anyeint troupe from 9 pm to 12 pm and movies will be shown.

On 26 February, wut associations will recite religious  verses from 5 am to 6 pm; wellwishers from townships in the area of Yangon City Development Committee will donate "soondawgyi" to the Buddha Image; people will be entertained by the Myanmar Orchestra and the modern music troupe from 7 pm to 9 pm; audience will be entertained with dances of the Anyeint troupe from 9 pm to 12 pm and movies will be shown. The dawn soon will be offered to the Buddha Image and 108 members of the Sangha on 27 February morning.

At 6 am, members of the Sangha will enshrine the Buddha Image. On 28 February, 1 and 2 March, famous Dhammakahtika Sayadaws will administer Desanas in commemoration of the successful completion of the enshrinement ceremony. Wellwishers and organizations will serve those present at the Buddha Image with the steamed glutinous rice, glutinous rice cooked in oil, soft drinks and drinking water from 23 to 27 February. Yangon, 18 Feb - Minister for Commerce Brig-Gen Pyi Sone received Managing Director of JK Private Ltd of Singapore Mr JK Goh and party at the Ministry of Commerce on Strand Road at 10 am today.

USDA Secretary-General receives Malaysian delegation

Yangon, 18 Feb - Union Solidarity and Development Association Secretary-General U Than Aung received a Malaysian goodwill delegation lead by Mr Azmin Mustan Abdul Karin at the USDA Headquarters this afternoon.

The Secretary-General briefed the guests on the tasks of the association, and they cordially discussed matters related to development tasks of the two countries. Also present were officials of the USDA headquarters.

e-Government Seminar held

Yangon, 18 Feb -The e-Government Seminar organized by Myanmar Computer Federation and Centre of the International Cooperation for Computerization (CICC), Japan, was held at the meeting hall of MICT Park here this afternoon. Present were Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Brig-Gen Thura Myint Maung, Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement U Hlaing Win and departmental heads, officials from IT companies, interested persons and invited guests totalling over 300. Vice-Chairman U Thein Oo of MCF and Foreign Relations Manager Mr Kiichiro Watanabe of NEC Cooperation, Japan, made opening speeches. Senior Expert Mr Norimasa Yamaguchi of International Business Promotion Division of NEC Corporation discussed the topic on Strategies and Current Status of e-Government and System Engineer Mr Ichimaru Yamada of Special Project Group of NEC Corporation on Trend of and Measures for Internet Security.

( 5 ) Minister inspects communication works in Bago Division (West)

Yangon, 18 Feb - Minister for Communications, Posts and Telegraphs Brig-Gen Thein Zaw, accompanied by officials from Myanma Posts and Telecommunications, on 16 February afternoon, arrived at Thayawady, Bago District (West), where he inspected the installations of machinery in the microwave station of MPT and the linking of telephone lines and gave instructions. Then, he went to Takalay Village and gave instructions on rural telecommunication system. The minister also went to Minhla and Pyay and inspected the installation of digital auto exchanges and microwave stations there. The minister then proceeded to Wettoe Village of Paukkhaung Township and gave instructions on telecommunication systems in the village. He also inspected the telephone exchange and carrier stations in Paukkhaung. Yesterday, the minister went to Gyobingauk, where he inspected telephone exchange and gave instructions on availability of telephone lines in Waing Village of Gyobingauk Township.

Minister inspects departmental tasks in Mandalay

Yangon, 18 Feb- Minister for Labour and for Culture U Tin Winn, accompanied by Director-General U Maung Maung Ohn of Central Inland Freight Handling Committee and Director-General U Nyunt Han of Archaeology Department, arrived in Mandalay on 15 February and paid obeisance to Maha Lawkamarazein Kuthodaw Pagoda. At the office of the Pagoda Board of Trustees, Chairman of the All-Round Renovation Committee Col Soe Lwin reported to the minister on progress in all-round renovation of Kuthodaw Pagoda built by King Mindon, maintenance of Pitakat stone inscriptions at Sandamuni Pagoda and progress of construction work of the Dhamma Zedi.

The minister gave necessary instructions and viewed renovation of Kuthodaw Pagoda and flooring of marble slabs on the western platform of the pagoda. Then, the minister, accompanied by officials, inspected construction of the Dhamma Zedi for Pitakat stone inscriptions built by Hermit U Khanti in 1923, in the compound of Sandamuni Pagoda, and gave necessary instructions.

 In 1992, out of 891 stone inscriptions, 297 were placed under the shelter of 297 shuts. In accordance with to the guidance given by Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Senior General Than Shwe, 90 Dhamma Zedis have been built; 24 are under construction; and 183 are to be built. Stone inscriptions are kept in the Dhamma Zedis. Next, the minister proceeded to Atula Marazein Kyauktawgyi built by King Mindon and gave instructions on keeping 125 Pitakat stone inscriptions under shelter. Afterwards, the minister went to the Workers' Hospital in Mandalay. At the meeting hall, the minister met the medical superintendent, doctors and nurses.

He left instructions on medical treatment, social security and staff welfare tasks. At the theatre of upper Myanmar, the minister met with service personnel of Fine Arts Department, Archaeology Department, Department of Cultural Institute and students of the State School of Fine Arts and the State School of Music and Drama. Later, the minister proceeded to Mandalay University of Culture and met the rector, faculty members and students and left necessary instructions.

Minister for Cooperatives visits Myanmar Fishery and Livestock Fair-2002

 Yangon, 18 Feb-The Myanmar Fishery and Livestock Fair-2002 jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Livestock Breeding and Fisheries continued for the third day at the Yangon Trade Centre on Upper Pazundaung Road in Mingala Taungnyunt Township today. Minister for Cooperatives Lt-Gen Tin Ngwe, Deputy Minister for Livestock Breeding and Fisheries U Aung Thein, Deputy Minister for Commerce Brig-Gen Kyaw Hsan, officials of local and foreign companies and the public visited the fair.

 Minister Lt-Gen Tin Ngwe and the deputy ministers observed booths on fish and marine products, feedstuff and crab, long finned eel (Anguilla nebulasa) and eel, Belle Myanmar Enterprise and sea fish and dried fish of Myanmar-Man Group General Trading Co Ltd on the ground floor, booths of scientific equipment used in livestock breeding, feedstuff on the first floor and machinery and related equipment on the second floor.

The minister and party also observed export items of the Ministry of Cooperatives, products of the Ministry of Industry-2, the Ministry of Mines, the Ministry of Livestock Breeding and Fisheries and the Ministry of Forestry, Shwepin Ngwepin U Than Tun, Hla Bayin, Tawwin and Hlakabar Furniture and finished wood products of Myanmar Huafu International Ltd in Myanmar export product booth on the third floor.

 The minister and party observed personal goods, household goods, various kinds of clothes, stationery and booths of companies from Thailand and other foreign companies. Myanmar Thabin Asi-ayon entertained the visitors with songs and dances. On 19 February, the Ministry of Culture will present cultural dances and songs. The Myanmar Fishery and Livestock Fair-2002 is kept open from 9 am to 5 pm daily till 22 February.

MMA Women Chapter and specialists on field tour

Yangon, 18 Feb - Under the arrangement of the Women Chapter of Myanmar Medical Association (Yangon), a team comprising Leading Patron Dr Daw Khin Win Shwe, Daw Khin Thet Htay, wife of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Chairman Yangon Command Commander Brig-Gen Myint Swe, Vice-Chairperson Dr Daw May May Yi of Myanmar National Working Committee for Women Affairs, Chairperson Dr Daw Yi Yi Hla and executives of MMA Women Chapter and women specialists made a field tour of Kyauktan Township yesterday morning. They were welcomed there by Yangon (North) District Peace and Development Council Chairman Lt-Col Sein Hlaing and officials, the chairman and members of the Township Peace and Development Council, the township health officer, members of the township WCWA, MCWA and USDA and teachers and students.

The team went to the township hospital and viewed the treatments paid to the inpatients. They also had a cordial meeting with the patients being treated there. Then, they proceeded to Basic Education Middle  School (Myoma) and conducted an educative talks at Shwe Thanlwin hall of the school. Chairperson of MMA Women Chapter Dr Daw Yi Yi Hla extended greeting to those present including district-level departmental staff, members of the township WCWA , MCWA, Red Cross Society and Auxiliary Fire Brigade and teachers and students. Leading Patron of MMA Women Chapter Dr Daw Khin Win Shwe gave talks on facts about Myanamr National Working Committee for Women Affairs; Vice-Chairperson of the Women Chapter Dr Daw Khin Ohn Lwin, on healthy life style for youth; Assistant Director (Daw Yuzana Kyin, on mental health. After the talks, Yangon Division Health Officer Dr Tin Maung win spoke words of thanks. The specialist team gave free medical treatment to 601 patients at the township hospital, using over K 100,000 worth of medicine and medical equipment donated by MMA Women Chapter and wellwishers.

( 6CEC member meets with USDA members in Magway

Yangon, 18 Feb - Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Union Solidarity and Development Association U Soe Tha, accompanied by officials, on 16 February, went to Magway Division USDA office, where he met with the secretary and executives of Magway Division, secretaries from Magway, Minbu, Thayet, Pakokku and Gangaw districts and secretaries from 25 townships in the division. On the occasion, district secretaries reported on organizational activities and rural development activities being carried out by township associations in their respective districts, and division executives and secretaries on organizational activities district-wise. CEC member U Soe Tha, after explaining about the rural development tasks being turned into reality by the State, left instructions on tasks to be shouldered by the association in cooperation with departments as well as with the public.

Minister tours Bago Division

Yangon, 18 Feb-Minister for Cooperatives Lt-Gen Tin Ngwe accompanied by Director U Kyaw Thein of Cooperatives Department, Vice-Chairman U Khin Maung Aye of Cooperatives Bank and officials inspected fish breeding ponds of Naywunni Livestock Breeding Cooperatives Ltd on 16 February. Head of Bago Division Cooperatives Department and chairman of the Ltd reported to the minister on livestock breeding work being carried out there.

The minister attended to the needs. The minister and party also inspected Waneiksa General Trading Ltd in Kyauktaga Township, Lunge Ahman Agriculture and Multi-trading Cooperatives Ltd in Phyu Township and Cooperatives Bank (Taungoo branch) in Taungoo Township and gave necessary instructions. On 17 February, the minister inspected breeding of fish at Kaytumadi Fish and Poultry Breeding Cooperatives Ltd in Taungoo Township.

 Later, the minister and party attended a meeting on cooperatives tasks held at Kaytu Yadana Hall in Taungoo Township. The minister and party proceeded to Shwe Myaysi Natural Fertilizer Plant of Htet Arkar Kyaw Agriculture Cooperatives Ltd near Doh Thaung Village in Taungoo Township. At the hall of the plant, officials reported to the minister on work and plans to be carried out. The minister gave instructions on production of quality fertilizer. Afterwards, the minister and party arrived at Mazin Industrial Cooperatives Ltd and inspected tasks being implemented there.

Minister visits oil purifying unit of No 1 Soap Factory in Mayangon

Yangon, 18 Feb- Minister for Industry-1 U Aung Thaung, accompanied by Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Kyaw Win, arrived at the oil purifying unit of No 1 Soap Factory on Kyaikwaing Pagoda Road in Ward 3, Mayangon Township, this morning. The minister inspected production of crude soap oil at the unit. At the briefing hall, Factory Manager U Toe Sein reported on technology on production of edible palm oil from the crude palm oil. Managing Director U Myint Oo of Myanma Pharmaceutical Industries gave a supplementary report.

 Then, the minister said that soap factories of the Ministry of Industry-1 in Yangon, Mandalay and Magway supply soap demands of the people in Upper and Lower Myanmar; plans are under way to implement new soap factory projects in Yamethin and Mawlamyine; and he invited those present to submit new projects to produce crude soap oil for the soap factories. Afterwards, the minister inspected the site chosen for construction of Crude Soap Oil Factory at the corner of Mindhamma and Kyaikwaing Roads and left necessary instructions.

( 7 ) Minister looks into Ngaoh-Tagaung-Thabeikkyin road

Yangon, 18 Feb -Minister for Construction Maj-Gen Saw Tun, accompanied by Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Myint Thein, inspected earth work for Ngaoh approach road and construction of a wooden bridge and Ngaoh-Tagaung Road, and gave instructions to the officials on 15 February. The minister then inspected the work being carried out by Road Construction Special Group-14 along Thabeikkyin-Tagaung-Twinnge-Ngaoh Road, and heard reports on the work done and future tasks by Deputy Superintending Engineer U Win Maung at the briefing hall of Twinnge Camp. Afterwards, the minister and party arrived at Tanga Bridge Project on Mandalay-Madaya-Mogok Road. Depu-ty Superintending Engineer U San Win reported to the minister on completion of approach structure, piers and steel frames, and construction of the foundations for Pier Nos 2 and 3 at the briefing hall of Tanga Bridge Project. After giving instructions to the officials, the minister inspected the project site. The bridge is of reinforced concrete type, and its floor is being built with reinforced concrete frames.

On 16 February, the minister arrived at the construction site of Ayeyawady Bridge (Mandalay) on Mandalay Bank of the river, and heard reports on the work being carried out and future tasks to be undertaken by Deputy Superintending Engineer U Htay Myint and engineers. The minister inspected construction works. Ayeyawady Bridge (Mandalay) is 5,614 feet long. Its upper structure is built of steel frames; approach bridges, of reinforced concrete frames. The minister then proceeded to four-lane Zawgyi Bridge on Yangon-Mandalay Highway where Deputy Superintending Engineer U San Win reported on progress of work and construction of approach bridges. The bridge is 210 feet long and the motor way is 48 feet wide. There are two six-foot-wide lanes for slow moving vehicles and two six-foot-wide padestrian lanes on both sides of the bridge.

Minister inspects departmental work in Sittway

Yangon, 18 Feb-Minister for Transport Maj-Gen Hla Myint Swe, accompanied by officials, arrived at the airport in Sittway yesterday. Officials of Public Works and the Civil Aviation Department reported to the minister on the surfacing of the runway with tar and extension of the airport building. Later, the minister and party inspected construction of Byaing Phyu Ywa Bridge on Sittway-Mingan road and Mingan jetty. Afterwards, the minister met with departmental officials at the meeting hall of the Sittway Hotel. Then, the minister and party inspected the shipyard of the Directorate of Marine Administration, the Sittway shipyard of Inland Water Transport, Sittway branch of IWT and Jetty No 1 of Myanma Port Authority.

Work committee meets for holding book fair, photo show, arts and crafts exhibition

Yangon, 18 Feb - A meeting of the work committee for holding book fair, photo show and ten arts and crafts exhibition to be held in March in Mandalay, organized by the Ministry of Information, was held at the meeting hall of Information and Public Relations Department on Pansondan Street at 1 pm today. It was attended by Chairman of the committee Deputy Minister for Information Brig-Gen Aung Thein, Director-General of the Information and Public Relations Department U Chit Naing, Managing Director of News and Periodicals Enterprise U Tin Kha, officials of Myanma Traditional Artistes and Artisans Asiayon and work committee members. First, Chairman Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Aung Thein addressed the meeting.

Next, Secretary of the work committee Director-General U Chit Naing explained about the fairs and member of the committee Deputy Director-General U Aung San arrangements for the fairs. Then, members of the committee reported matters related to works sector-wise and those present took part in the discussions. Later, the meeting ended with concluding speech by Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Aung Thein.

Deputy Minister inspects rural development tasks in Taninthayi Division

Yangon, 18 Feb- Deputy Minister for Progress of Border Areas and National Races and Development Affairs U Kyaw Tin, accompanied by officials, donated provisions to the Sayadaw of Zawtithaya TatU Kyaung in Kawhline Village, Yebyu Township, on 16 February. At Alei Sakhan Village, the deputy minister inspected Kaleinpu Creek Bridge on Alei Sakhan-Hleseik rural road. In Ye, the deputy minister met officials of the Domestic Science Training School for the Women of Education and Training Department. The minister inspected lecture halls and mass halls of the school and attended to their needs. The minister also met with members of the Township Development Committee and gave instructions on regional development tasks. The minister inspected the market, the town hall and Ye-Asin village road and bridges undertaken by Ye Township Development Committee.

 The minister then met with local people and left instructions on rural development tasks. Yesterday, the minister met service personnel at Ye Township Development Committee Office and local people and social organizations at Lamaing Model Village Basic Education High School. He gave instructions on rural development tasks. The minister inspected Lamaing Market. In Thanbyuzayat, the minister met officials and staff at the Township Development Affairs Office. He then proceeded to Kyonkadat Model Village and called on local people and social organizations. The minister left instructions on smooth transportation, water availability, education, health and economic development tasks and inspected the tube-well sunk by Thanbyuzayat Township Development Committee.

Yangon 18 Feb - A coordination meeting on holding the Yangon Mayor's Maha Thingyan festival for 1363 ME was held at the meeting hall No 4 of the Yangon City Development Committee this morning attended by Mayor of Yangon City U Ko Lay. MLBF holds second annual meeting

Yangon, 18 Feb - The Myanmar Livestock Breeding Federation held its second annual meeting at the International Business Centre on Pyay Road here this morning, with an address by Patron of the federation Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Brig-Gen Maung Maung Thein. Wellwishers presented cash donations, which were received by Chairman of the Committee for Extensive Livestock Breeding Minister for Cooperatives Lt-Gen Tin Ngwe, Minister Brig-Gen Maung Maung Thein and deputy ministers. Then, Chairman of the federation Dr Mya Han presided over the meeting and spoke on the occasion. After an address by Director-General of the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department U Maung Maung Nyunt, General Secretary of the federation Dr Zaw Win Myat read out the annual report and the financial statement. Afterwards, the meeting came to a close with concluding remarks by the chairman of the meeting.

Health Care Meeting held

Yangon, 18 Feb- Ayeyawady Division Community Health Care Meeting took place at the office of the Head of Division Health Department in Pathein on 16 February morning. Present on the occasion were health staff and executive committee members of Myanmar Health Assistant Association.

Cruise liner leaves Yangon

Yangon, 18 Feb - Under the cooperation of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and the Ministry of Transport and with the arrangement of Sai Travel (Myanmar) Co Ltd and Today Top Star Co Ltd, Cruise Liner Fuji Maru with 161 tourists and a crew of 131 totalling 292 on board arrived at Bo Aung Kyaw Jetty, Yangon, here on 16 February. Then, the cruise liner left the jetty at 4 pm today and was seen off there by officials of the ministries and the companies. Similarly, arranged by Insight Myanmar Tourism Co, Cruise Liner MS Seabourn with 550 tourists and a crew of 250 will arrive here from 6 to 8 March and by Tour Mandalay Co, Cruise Liner MS Arion with 250 tourists and 150 crew will be here from 28 to 30 March.

( 9 ) Commander inspects rural development tasks in Monywa

Yangon, 18 Feb -Chairman of Sagaing Division Peace and Development Council Commander of North-West Command Brig-Gen Soe Naing, accompanied by officials, arrived at construction site for Salingyi Textile Mill of the Ministry of Industry-1 in Salingyi Township on 8 February morning and heard reports on work done and future tasks to be carried out by Engineer U Kyaw Kyaw Maung. After attending to the needs, the commander inspected the site. He then met with township level departmental officials at the hall of Salingyi Township Peace and Development Council and held discussions on implementation of five rural area development tasks. Chairman of Township Peace and Development Council U Kyaw Swa and departmental officials made sector-wise reports.

 The commander attended to the requirements. In the afternoon, Commander Brig-Gen Soe Naing arrived at Pale and met with departmental officials at the hall of Pale Township Peace and Development Council office and discussed rural areas development. Afterwards, the commander inspected experimental bean plantations in Myowin Sanpya Beans Plantation of Yinmabin Township Beans and Pulses Special Cultivation Zone and tasks for tube well projects and attended to the needs. Then, the commander met with departmental officials at the hall of Yinmabin Township Peace and Development Council office and called for implementation of the five rural development tasks. Chairman of Township Peace and Development Council U Zwa Za Yaung and departmental officials reported on progress of work to the commander who fulfilled the requirements.

Medical equipment donated to Sangha Hospital

Yangon, 18 Feb -Mr Volker Schmidt Wellen Burg of Polymer Co Ltd of Germany and wife donated a set of Ultrasound Therapy Unit Sono Stat 833 and accessories worth Deutschmark 2,700 for Jivitadana Sangha Hospital, Kominkochin Street in Bahan Township here at the hospital this morning. Mr Volker Schmidt Wellen Burg and wife presented documents related to the gift to Chairman of Jivitadana Sangha Hospital Administration Board U Maung Maung (7).

AWB Ltd meets entrepreneurs

Yangon, 18 Feb- A meeting between Asia Wealth Bank Ltd and townselders and entrepreneurs of Lashio was held at No (6) Basic Education High School on 16 February morning. It was attended by Deputy Commander of Northeast Command Col Hla Myint, Secretary of the Shan State Peace and Development Council Lt-Col Win Han and departmental officials, Vice-Chairman of Asia Wealth Bank Ltd U Aik Tun and staff, townselders and entrepreneurs. Vice-Chairman U Aik Tun elaborated on the background history of AWB, handling of finicial matters in a short time through On-Line Banking Service at the AWB branches and plans to disburse loans to farmers. Then, U Aik Tun and staff replied to the queries raised by those present. Next, Vice Chairman U Aik Tun donated K 500,000 for No (6) BEHS to the Headmistress Daw Nyo Nyo.
