The Myanmar youths had suffered under the divide-and-rule system of the colonialists and the colonialist education system for over 100 years. The Myanmar youths adopted the attitude that they had to love their country and build her up, and on the strength of patriotism, established national schools.
Not only were student youths given education, but also they were instilled with patriotism. The Myanmar patriotic youths produced from national schools and other schools built on self-reliance took part in the anti-imperialist struggle and the anti-fascist movement. In this way, Myanma independence was regained. Basic Education High School No 1, Sagaing, emerged 100 years ago. It is a government-recognized school and trains and nurtures outstanding students in accord with the requirements of the State.
It is found that those who took part in the independence struggle, those who led the nation throughout the successive periods, those who took charge of the Tatmadaw as leaders and technicians and academicians have emerged from the school. The existence of the school for 100 years can be attributed to the nationalistic spirit and patriotism of student youths, teachers and parents. A new centenary school building has emerged due to the efforts of old students of the school and assistance of the government. It is an example to be followed by the new generation youths. At a time when the government is providing assistance and encouragement and the education system designed for the promotion of the national education is making progress, the student youths of new generation can achieve as much success as they can work hard and can become persons who can serve the interests of the nation. In conclusion, student youths, teachers, parents and people are urged to cooperate in implementing national education plans.
