( 1 ) Bangladesh Kyaungtaik holds fifth communal Kathina


 

Yangon, 11 Nov-The fifth communal Kathina of Bangladesh Kyaungtaik was held at the Kyaungtaik in Myittanyunt Ward in Tamway Township this morning. Present were member of the Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Kitti, Presiding Nayaka Sayadaw of Bangladesh Kyaungtaik Bhaddanta Pannajota and members of the Sangha, the deputy ministers, the vice-mayor, heads of departments, disciples and guests.

The congregation received the Five Precepts from member of the Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Kitti and members of the Sangha recited parittas. Minister for Religious Affairs U Aung Khin presented Kathina robes and offertories to Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kitti. Disciples and well-wishers presented offertories to members of the Sangha. Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kitti delivered a sermon, followed by sharing of merits. Alms were offered to members of the Sangha.

Minister for Home Affairs inspects agricultural production unit in Taikkyi
 

Yangon, 11 Nov-Minister for Home Affairs Col Tin Hlaing and officials inspected agricultural production unit of the ministry in Minhla Village in Yaybawthaung Village Tract in Taikkyi Township this morning. The minister inspected cultivation of paddy, preparations for cultivation of summer paddy and digging of canals. The minister and party inspected cultivation of paddy, harvesting of monsoon paddy, arrangements for cultivation of summer paddy, preparations for supply of water through canals under the water pumping project, preparations for cultivation of matpe and fish breeding.

( 3 ) Independence Day Commemorative Essay and Poetry Competitions to be held


Yangon, 11 Nov-The Sub-committee for Organizing the 54th Anniversary Independence Day. Commemorative Essay, Poetry, TV Quiz and Computer Graphic Art Competitions will hold the Essay and Poetry Competitions. There are three levels  the university/college/institute level, the basic education high school level (8th, 9th and 10th standards) and the basic education middle school level (5th, 6th and 7th  standards).

The university/college institute level essay and  poetry competitions and the basic education high school
level essay and poetry competitions will be held on 24 December, and the basic education middle school level essay and poetry competitions will be held on l 25 December at the respective  schools.

The essay should not be more than 5,000 words and the poem, 300. Those wishing to take part in the competitions may enlist at respective universities, colleges, institutes and schools not later than 23 November. Handsome prizes will be presented to 18 winners at the central level competitions six each from the three levels on 4 January 2002 (Independence  Day).

      Commander inspects Yangon Division Vegetable and Poultry Farming special Zone in Hmawby


Yangon, 11 Nov-Member of the State Peace and Development Council Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Khin Maung Than inspected cultivation of vegetables and poultry farming at Yangon Division Vegetable and Poultry Farming Special Zone near Nyaunghnapin Village in Hmawby Township this afternoon. The commander inspected the raising of poultry by BTB Co Ltd in the special zone-3. Managing Director U Thaing Win reported on installation of the cooling system at the poultry farm and the breeding of poultry.

The commander then fi31filled the requirements. The commander inspected construction of chicken runs. Managing Director U Thaing Win of BTB Co Ltd reported on construction work. The commander inspected arrangements for digging fish ponds in the special zone-3. The commander then gave instructions on the digging of fish ponds on 200 acres of land to officials of BTB Co Ltd and the entrepreneurs.

There are over 36,000 acres of fish ponds in Yangon Division. Over 45,000 acres of fish ponds are to be dug in the coming open season. The commander inspected cultivation of various kinds of vegetables, the digging of fish ponds ant vegetable patches in the special zone.  The ministries and national entrepreneurs have grown vegetables on over 2,600 acres of land, raised over 300,000 poultry and sold over 100.000 Poultry.

5 )  Minister inspects cultivation of oil palm in Yebsu Township


 

Yangon, 11 Nov-Secretary of Leading Committee for Region-wise Agricultural Development Minister at the Prime Minister's Office Lt-Gen Tin Ngwe and departmental officials inspected cultivation of oil palm of Pokaung Co in Palawzon Village in Yebyu Township yesterday. The minister inspected 7.5 ton edible oil mill where factory manager and division manager of Myanma Perennial Crops Enterprise reported on the production process.

Officials of MPCE and the factory manager explained construction of the mills to officials of SI Co, Tetnay Co and Shwokhamauk Co. The minister and party inspected the mill.  In the afternoon, the minister and party inspected cold storage and ice factories of International Fisheries (Tanin-thayi) Ltd and Yadana Theingi Co Ltd in Kyauknimaw Village in Launglon Township. The minister and party inspected the oil palm mill and cultivation of 1,600 acres of oil palm of MPCE. The minister then gave instructions.

( 6 )  MWJA holds paper reading session
 

Yangon, 11 Nov-The paper reading session "Bank of Knowledge" organized by Myanmar Writers and Journalists Association was held on the second floor of Sarpay Beikmen on Merchant Street here at noon today.

 It was attended by Chairman of MWJA U Hla Myaing (Ko Hsaung), Chairman-2 U Than Maung (Than Maung), Secretary U Hla Tun (Hla Tun Twantay) and central executive committee members, guests, resource persons, members of township MWJAs in Yangon Division.

Joint Secretary U Myint Kywe (Maung Myint Kywe) acted as master of ceremonies. Chairman U Hla Myaing made a speech. Chairman of Working Committee for Holding Paper Reading Session CEC member of MWJA U Myo Thant (Maung Hsu Shin) explained arrangements for the paper reading
session.

Then, resource person U Than Oo read the paper on the process of educational reforms and development in Myanmar. Dr Khin Maung Nyunt read the paper on environmental conservation recorded in Myanma cultural literature and history.

Next, resource persons replied to the queries raised by those present. Afterwards, Chairman of MWJA U Hla Myaing presented a certificate of honor to Dr Tin Tun Oo of Thuta Swesone Publishing House, who gave assistance for the holding of the session. The ceremony came to an end with the closing address by the chairman. At the ceremony, Thuta Swesone Publishing House, Wamoe Aung Publishing House and Tin Shwe Publishing House opened book shops.

( 7 )  Spanish tourists arrive


Yangon, 11 Nov-Under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and with the arrangement of Adventure Myanmar Travels and Tours Company and Tour Operator of Spain, 103 Spanish tourists including the Spanish Ambassador to Thailand and wife arrived here on a chartered flight this morning. They were welcomed at the airport by officials of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and Managing Director U Aung Myo Min Din and officials of Adventure Myanmar Travels and Tours Company. They will visit Yangon on 11 and 12 November, Bagan-NyaungU on 13 November and Mandalay on 14 and 15 November. They will leave Mandalay International Airport for Phukhet, Thailand, on 16 November.

( 8 ) Myanmar delegation arrives back


Yangon, 11 Nov- Myanmar delegation led by Chairman of Information Subcommittee for the Myanmar ASEAN Cultural and Information Committee Director-General U Khin Maung Htay of Myanma Radio and Television arrived back here by air this evening after attending the ASEAN Symposium on Communication and Media Studies; Building Bridges and exploring New Frontiers held in Malaysia from 8 to 10 November.

The delegation was welcomed back at the airport by Deputy Minister for Information Brig-Gen Aung Thein, Director General U Chit Naming of Information and Public Relations Department, Managing Director U Tin Kha of News and Periodicals Enterprise, Managing Director U Myint Thein of Printing and Publishing Enterprise, Managing Director U Bo Kyi of Myanma Motion Picture Enterprise, Deputy Director-General of MRTV Lt-Col Thein Aung and departmental officials and families of delegates.
Members of delegation, Assistant General Manager U Zaw Tint of Data Com Department of Myanma Posts and Telecommunications and Adviser of Ministry of Information on Computer Technology U Win Maw, also arrived back here on the same flight.

 UMFCCI CEC member leaves for Philippines
 

Yangon, 11 Nov-U Sein Win Hlaing, Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, left here by air for the Philippines this morning to attend the Trade Workshop under the AMEICC COE Comprehensive Programme to
be held there from 12 to 14 November. He was seen off at Yangon International Airport by President of UMFCCI U Win Myint, General Secretary U Zaw Min Win and officials.
