( 1 )  Secretary-1 attends Art Exhibition of would-be graduates of University of Culture

Yangon, 2 Sept- Art Exhibition of would-be graduates of fifth batch of Departments of Art, Sculpture, Music and Theatrical Performance of University of Culture, Fine Arts Department, Ministry of Culture, was held at the National Theatre on Myoma Kyaung Road this morning, attended by Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt.

The Secretary-1, accompanied by officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office arrived at the National Theatre at 8.15 am. They were welcomed there by ministers, deputy ministers, directors-general of departments under the Ministry of Culture, deputy directors-general, directors, Rector of University of Culture U Tin Soe, rectors, heads of department, guests and would-be graduates of the fifth batch of Departments of Art, Sculpture, Music and Theatrical Performance of University of Culture. First, the Secretary-1 and party viewed paintings and sculptures of students of Department of Art and Sculpture exhibited at the external hall of the theatre. Then, they viewed term-papers of the students of Departments of Art, Sculpture, Music and Theatrical Performance in 2000-2001 academic year. Students and officials concerned briefed the Secretary-1 who left the theatre later in the morning.

BSI commemorates golden jubilee

Yangon, 2 Sept- The Bureau of Special Investigation under the Ministry of Home Affairs presented prizes and awards to outstanding children of the employees and outstanding employees in commemoration of its golden jubilee at the head office on Seikkantha Street this morning. Chairman of Myanmar Education Committee Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt attended the ceremony. Also present were ministers, the Attorney-General, the Deputy Chief Justice, deputy ministers, officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office, heads of departments under the Ministry of Home Affairs, employees of the BSI, outstanding students and employees and guests.

The Secretary-1 presented prizes to Ma Nwe Chit Hlaing who passed the 2000-2001 matriculation examination with three distinctions and Ma Wai Yan Le Aung and Maung Myo Nyunt Kyi who passed the 2000-2001 matriculation examination with two distinctions. Minister for Home Affairs Col Tin Hlaing and Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Myint Maung presented prizes to Ma Aye Mya Thanda, Maung Yan Naung Soe, Maung Tun Tun Naing, Ma Ngu Pwint Mon, Ma May Zaw Phyo and Ma Phyo Thuza Tun who passed the 2000-2001 matriculation examination with one distinction. Then, the ceremony came to a close. At 10 am, the ceremony continued.

Minister Col Tin Hlaing made a speech. Director-General of Myanmar Police Force Col Soe Win, Director-General of the General Administration Department U Aung Thein and Director-General of the Prisons Department U Kyaw Tun presented awards to five employees for their outstanding performance in management. Director-General of the Bureau of Special Investigation U Tun Hla Aung presented awards to one employee for excellent performance in sports and K 3 million to the welfare fund of BSI staff. On behalf of the outstanding students, three-distinction-winning student Ma Nwe Chit Hlaing spoke words of thanks. Then, Minister Col Tin Hlaing and guests viewed the documentary photos of the activities of BSI. In the afternoon, the prize-presentation ceremony continued. Awards were presented to the employees who won prizes at the literary and extempore talk contests.

 CEC member attends cornerstone-laying ceremony of Taungtha BEHS

Yangon, 2 Sept- A ceremony to lay cornerstones for construction of a new two-storey building of Basic Education High School, Taungtha, was held in the compound of the school yesterday. Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Union Solidarity and Development Association U Aung Thaung laid the cornerstone and the stone plaque. Then, the CEC member attended the ceremony to open a newly-paved road and donate cash to the fund of the clinic in Yonsingyi Village, Taungtha Township. CEC member U Aung Thaung formally opened the newly-paved road.

Afterwards, the CEC member attended the ce-remony to submit USDA membership applications and donate cash to the fund of the clinic at the affiliated school of Yonsingyi Village BEHS. He accepted 500 USDA membership applications and inspected the computer room of the affiliated school. Next, the CEC member went to Taungtha People's Hospital and presented cash awards to the medical staff. Then, he attended the ceremony to present prizes to outstanding students who passed the 2000-2001 matriculation examination at the Town Hall. He also attended a similar ceremony held at Zagyan Village BEHS in Taungtha Township.

Myanmar delegation attends ministerial-level meeting on cooperation in drug control

Yangon, 2 Sept- The Myanmar delegation led by Chairman of the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control Minister for Home Affairs Col Tin Hlaing attended the ministerial-level meeting on cooperation in drug control of China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand in Beijing, the People's Republic of China on 27 and 28 August. Member of the State Council of China Mr Luo Gan made an opening speech. Minister of Public Security of China Mr Jia Chunwang chaired the meeting. After the meeting, the Beijing Declaration was issued. The ministers and dele-gation members of the four countries also paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister of PRC Mr Zhu Rongji. Before the meeting started, the preliminary meetings were also held on 27 August.

Minister Col Tin Hlaing met with Minister at the Prime Minister's Office General Thammarak Isarangura of Thailand, Minister of Public Security Mr Jia Chunwang of China and Minister at the President's Office Mr Soubanh Srithiratyh of the Lao People's Democratic Republic separately and discussed matters related to cooperation in drug control. On 28 August, member of the State Council of China Mr Luo Gan hosted a dinner in honour of the delegations at the government guest house. The Myanmar delegation, accompanied by Minister of Public Security Mr Jia Chunwang and the administrator and the deputy administrator of Yunnan Province, also visited the drug and chemical testing and research department under the Ministry of Public Security, the Great Wall, the rehabilitation centre for drug addicts in Kunming, Yunnan Province, the police college and Li Xan city.

F&R Minister supervises work of the ministry in Magway Division

Yangon, 2 Sept- Member of the Secretariat of the Union Solidarity and Development Association and Minister for Finance and Revenue U Khin Maung Thein, accompanied by Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar U Kyaw Kyaw Maung and officials, supervised the work of the ministry and USDA in Magway Division yesterday. The minister and party inspected the preparation for implementation of multimedia classroom at Basic Education High School in Lanywa, Pakokku Township, yesterday morning.

Then, Secretary of USDA (Central) U Khin Maung Thein met the USDA members from Pakokku District, Seikpyu Township and Lanywa Village Tract. Executives of district, township and village tract USDA reported on matters relating to the work of USDA to the minister, who attended to their needs. Afterwards, exercise books and cash were presented for the multiplier courses which will be sponsored by USDA to Secretary of Pakokku District USDA U Thaw Zin Oo, Secretary of Seikpyu Township USDA U Hla Phone and Executive of Lanywa USDA U Aung Ngwe. In the afternoon, the minister and party met NyaungU District USDA members and staff of departments under the ministry of NyaungU District at NyaungU Myanma Economic Bank. The minister heard the reports presented by executives of NyaungU District USDA and officials of the ministry and fulfilled their requirements. The minister presented exercise books for courses of USDA to NyaungU District USDA.

Yangon, 2 Sept- Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee Minister for Sports Brig-Gen Thura Aye Myint, Chairman of the Committee for Ensuring Success of Myanma Sports Mayor of Yangon U Ko Lay and Vice-Chairman of Myanma Olympic Committee Vice-Adjutant General Brig-Gen Maung Nyo, who have been invited to attend the XXI SEA Games to be held from 8 to 17 September in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the 66-member Myanmar sports team left here for Malaysia by air this morning. They were seen off at Yangon International Airport by Minister for Health Maj-Gen Ket Sein, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office Lt-Gen Tin Ngwe, Deputy Minister for Hotels and Tourism Brig-Gen Aye Myint Kyu, Vice-Chairman of Yangon City Development Committee Vice-Mayor Col Maung Pa and committee members and families. The Myanma sports team included Myanmar women football team, Myanmar rowing team, Myanmar Wushuu team and the information group.

Myanmar delegation leaves for Thailand

Yangon, 2 Sept- Myanmar delegation led by Chief Justice U Aung Toe left here for Bangkok, Thailand, by air this morning to attend the 22nd General Assembly of ASEAN Inter- Parliamentary Organization to be held there from 2 to 7 September. They were seen off at the Yangon International Airport by Minister for Hotels and Tourism Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, Auditor-General Brig-Gen Tin Aye, Deputy Chief Justice U Than Oo, Deputy Attorney-General U Khin Maung Aye, Charge d' Affaires ai of Thai Embassy Mr Raden Suwannakorn, officials and family members. The delegation comprised member of Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission U Aye Maung and Joint-Secretary of National Convention Convening Work Committee U Thaung Nyunt.

Regional Development tasks coordinated in Katha District

Yangon, 2 Sept- A coordination meeting on regional development tasks of Katha District, Sagaing Division, was held at Kyauktan village in Kawlin Township on 27 August. It was attended by Chairman of Sagaing Division Peace and Development Council Commander of North-West Command Maj-Gen Soe Win, division-level departmental officials, Chairman of Katha District Peace and Development Council Lt-Col Myint Khaing and chairmen of seven townships in Katha District and officials. The commander urged departmental officials to make concerted efforts for successful implementation of tasks of availability of fresh water in rural areas and water for cultivation, regional development, education, health, agriculture and livestock breeding.

Then, chairmen of Township Peace and Development Councils reported to the commander on work done and plans to be carried out. The commander fulfilled their requirements. Later, he inspected construction of bypass road of Regional Development tasks Kyaybinat dam in Kanbalu township, Shwebo District. On 28 August, the commander attended competition of transplanting ability held at Seikkhun Village in Shwebo Township. In Shwebo District, out of targeted 820,600 acres of monsoon paddy , 531,187 acres have been cultivated. Out of targeted 74150 acres of green gram 116,631 have been grown. Later, he inspected village library in No 3 Ward, Seikkun. Altogether 173 libraries have been opened in villages and wards in Sagaing Division.

No 14 BEPS of Chanmyathazi gets new building

Yangon, 2 Sept- A ceremony to hand over a new school building constructed and donated by Mandalay City Development Committee was held at No 14 Basic Education Primary School in Chanmyathazi on 31 August. It was attended by Chairman of Mandalay Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Central Command Maj-Gen Ye Myint, Chairman of MCDC Mayor of Mandalay Brig-Gen Yan Thein, Secretary Lt-Col Tin Ohn and departmental officials, members of MCDC, Director-General Lt-Col Win Htein of No 2 Basic Education Department and officials, headmaster and teachers and townspeople. First, the commander made a speech. The mayor explained the purpose of donation of the school. Then, the mayor handed over documents related to the school to the director-general. The school building was constructed by MCDC at a cost of K 12.015 million.

Families of Tatmadaw and wellwishers offer provisions to Sarthintaiks

Yangon, 2 Sept- Families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) and wellwishers donated provisions to Maha Withutarama Sarthintaik, Amatadayi Sarthintaik, Yadanagonyi Sarthintaik, Damaydini Sarthintaik and Withoadrama Sarthintaik at Maha Withutarama Sarthintaik in Hsethein Ward, Thingan-gyun Township, Yangon East District, this morning. Present were Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs Brig-Gen Thura Aung Ko, Commandant of the Camp Commandant Office of the Ministry of Defence Brig-Gen Hla Aung Thein and senior military officers, chairmen and members of Yangon East District and Thingangyun Township Peace and Development Councils, departmental officials, members of Township Union Solidarity and Development Association and Maternal and Child Welfare Association, wellwishers and guests.

Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Thura Aung Ko, Brig-Gen Hla Aung Thein and officials offered alms to the Sayadaws and members of the Sangha. Then, General Staff Officer of the Ministry of Defence Col Thein Htaik, Chief of Naval Staff of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Cmdr Than Htaik and Staff Officer (Air) (Grade I) Lt-Col Myint Saw offered rice, beans and edible oil donated by the families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) to Maha Withutarama Sarthintaik, Amatadayi Sarthintaik, Yadanagonyi Sarthintaik, Damaydini Sarthintaik and Withoadrama Sarthintaik.

Next, the Ministry of Religious Affairs donated rice, edible oil and beans to the Sayadaws; Yangon Division Peace and Development Council, six bags of rice; Yangon East District and Thingangyun Township Peace and Development Councils, five bags of rice; Myanma Salt and Marine Chemicals Enterprise of the Ministry of Mines and Yangon Division Salt Millers Association, 500 viss of iodized salt and 50 packets of fine salt; families of the Department of Traditional Medicine and Kyaw Medicine Production Family, 175 packets of various traditional medicines. Afterwards, a trust fund for these Sarthintaiks was set up. Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Thura Aung Ko accepted donations K 500,000 million by Myanma Economic Holdings Ltd, K 25,000 by wellwishers in Thingangyun Township, K 25,000 by Dagon Tin Win and Daw Mya Yi Nanda and family and K 5,000 by Shwenapan Board of Trustees. Then, Col Thein Htaik supplicated on the purpose of the donation. Sayadaw of Maha Withutarama Sarthintaik Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Visiladiga Bhanaka Bhaddanta Pandita delivered a sermon, followed by the sharing of merits.

At the ceremony, 137 bags of rice, 111 viss of beans and peas, 50 viss of edible oil, 500 viss of iodized salt, 50 packets of fine salt, 175 packets of various traditional medicines and K 555,000 were donated to the Sarthintaiks. Similarly, families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) and wellwishers made donations in cash and kind to Dama Wihara Pathamakyaw Sarthintaik, Phaya Thonsu Damapala Shwehintha Sarthintaik and Kyaikkasan Wailuwun Sarthintaik at Dama Wihara Pahtamakyaw Sarthintaik in Ward E/A, Thingangyun Township, at 9 am. Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Thura Aung Ko, Brig-Gen Hla Aung Thein and officials offered alms to the Sayadaws and members of the Sangha.

Then, Colonel Staff Officer of the Ministry of Defence Col Thein Htaik, Chief of Naval Staff of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Cmdr Than Htaik and Chief of Staff (Air) (Grade I) Lt-Col Myint Saw offered rice, beans and edible oil donated by the families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) to the Sarthintaiks. Next, the Ministry of Religious Affairs donated rice, edible oil and beans to the Sayadaws; Yangon Division Peace and Development Council, five bags of rice; Yangon East District and Thingangyun Township Peace and Development Councils, five bags of rice; Myanma Salt and Marine Chemicals Enterprise of the Ministry of Mines and Yangon Division Salt Millers Association, 350 viss of Iodized salt and 35 packets of soft salt; Thingangyun Township Maternal and Child Welfare Association, a bag of rice; Township Immigration and National Registration Department, a bag of rice and Chinthemin Bean Mill, five bags of rice and a bag of beans. Brig-Gen Hla Aung Thein accepted donations for the trust fund of the Sarthintaiks K 400,000 million by Myanma Economic Holdings Ltd, K 20,000 by wellwishers in Thingangyun Township, Daw Hla Hla of Lanmadaw Township Cleaning Services, K 20,000, K 11,900 by Dagon Tin Win and Daw Mya Yi Nanda and family and K 7,000 by Bokannyunt Ward Peace and Development Council.

Then, Col Thein Htaik supplicated on the purpose of the donation. At the ceremony, 103 bags of rice, 99 viss of beans and peas, 35 viss of edible oil, 350 viss of iodized salt, 35 packets of soft salt, 125 packets of various traditional medicines and K 458,900 were donated to the Sarthintaiks. The families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) and wellwishers made donations in cash and kind to Kwinkyaung Pariyatti Sarthintaik, Zotanarama Sarthintaik, Thadamawunthayon Kyaungtaik, Zaburadana Kyaungtaik and Pariyatti Pali Tekkatho Kyaungtaik in Ahlon Township, Yangon West District, at Pariyatti Sarthintaik Sasanahita Karipariyatti Damabeikman at 7 am today. Present were Patron Sayadaws of the five Sarthintaiks and members of the Sangha, Chief of Naval Staff of the Ministry of Defence Commodore Soe Thein and senior military officers, chairmen and members of Yangon West District and Ahlon Township Peace and Development Councils, township-level departmental officials, ward authorities, members of the Union Solidarity and Development Association, Maternal and Child Welfare Association, the Working Committee for Women's Affairs, Red Cross and Auxiliary Fire Brigade, guests and wellwishers. Commodore Soe Thein and senior military officers offered alms and 116 bags of rice, 47 viss of edible oil and three bags of beans donated by the families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) to the Sayadaws. Chairman of Yangon West District Peace and Development Council Lt-Col Maung Maung Shein and Chairman of Ahlon Township Peace and Development Council U Aung Khin offered three bags of rice and two viss of edible oil to the Sayadaws.

The donations offered to the Sayadaws included 17 bags of rice and 22 viss of edible oil by 11 Ward Peace and Development Councils in Ahlon Township, eight bags of rice by Township Forest Department, 35 viss of edible oil by edible oil agents and edible oil dealers in the township, four bags of rice by the education family of Ahlon Township, Dagon Soft Drinks Factory and Ahlon Township Court each, three bags of rice by Ahlon Township Police Force, Township Cooperatives Department, Furniture Factories No 1, 2 and 3, the USDA and Hsinmin Market Development Committee each, one bag of rice by Township Labour Department, Township Development Affairs Committee, the communication department and Ahlon Dockyards each, 450 viss of iodized salt and 45 packets of soft salt by Myanma Salt and Marine Chemicals Enterprise, 150 packets of various traditional medicines by the Department of Traditional Medicine, 2,545 packets of various traditional medicines by traditional medicine entrepreneurs, 180 Tun Shwewah Ointment by Tun Shwewah Medicine Enterprise and 228 Great Wall Ointment by Great Wall Medicine Enterprise.

Commodore Soe Thein accepted cash donated to the trust fund of the Sarthintaiks Ñ K 500,000 by Myanmar Economic Holdings Ltd, K 30,000 by Township War Veterans Organization, K 50,000 by BTB Company U Thaing Win-Daw Htay Htay Nyunt, K 10,000 by U Thein Maung-Daw Pa Pa Sandi Traditional Medicine family, K 13,000 by Township Development Affairs Committee, K 10,000 by U Nyein and family of OK Rice Dealing and K 5,200 by Township Revenue Department. Brig-Gen Aung Kyi of the Ministry of Defence accepted cash donations made by wellwishers. Deputy Director of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare Col Kyaw Myint supplicated on the purpose of the donation. The donations totalled 190 bags of rice, 116 viss of edible oil, 450 viss of salt, 45 packets of soft salt, three bags of beans, 3,103 packets of various traditional medicines and K 665,830. Similarly, the families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) and wellwishers made donations in cash and kind to Thuseiktayon Pariyatti Sarthintaik, Thirimingala Pyawbwe Kyaungtaik, Phaya Thonsu Pariyatti Sarthintaik and Sasana Paragu Sarthintaik at Thuseiktayon Pariyatti Sarthintaik in Ward 3, Kamayut Township, Yangon West District. Present were patron Sayadaws of four Sarthintaiks and members of the Sangha, Provost Marshal of the Ministry of Defence Brig-Gen Saw Hla and senior military officers, district, township and ward authorities, departmental officials, members of USDA, Maternal and Child Welfare Association, the Working Committee for Women's Affairs, Red Cross and Auxiliary Fire Brigade, heads of basic education schools in the township and wellwishers.

The senior military officers offered alms and 69 bags of rice, 28 viss of edible oil and 55 viss of beans donated by the families of the Tatmadaw to the Sayadaws. The donations offered to the Sayadaws included five bags of rice by Yangon West District and Kamayut Township Peace and Development Council, 10 bags of rice and one bag of salt by Township Religious Committee, one bag of rice by Maternal and Child Welfare Association, two bags of rice by Township Development Affairs Committee, three bags of rice by No 5 Basic Education High School in Kamayut Township, and seven bags of rice by No 1 BEHS, 300 viss of iodized salt and 30 packets of soft salt by Myanma Salt and Marine Chemicals Enterprise, 100 packets of the Department of Traditional Medicine, 276 packets of ointment by U Ohn Sein Medical Store and 616 packets of various traditional medicines.

Brig-Gen Saw Hla and senior military officers accepted the donations made to the trust fund of the Sarthintaiks K 400,000 by Myanma Economic Holdings Ltd, K 12,000 by Yangon Division Peace and Development Council, K 12,000 by Yangon West District Peace and Development Council, K 110,000 by Kamayut Township Peace and Development Council and Ward Peace and Development Council and others. Lt-Col Maung Maung Shein and Chairman of Kamayut Township Peace and Development Council U Wai Myo Khai donated K 9.8 million to the fund for construction of a six-storey building of Thuseiktayon Pariyatti Sarthintaik. Chief of Staff (Grade I) of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief Lt-Col Tun Tun Oo supplicated on the purpose of the donation. The donations made to the four Sarthintaiks totalled 97 bags of rice, 28 viss of edible oil, 550 viss of salt, 30 packets of soft salt, 616 packets of traditional medicines and K 991,700.

Yangon, 2 Sept- Director of South-East Asian Region of WHO Dr Uton Muchtar Rafei arrived here by air this morning to attend the 54th Regional Committee Meeting for WHO South-East Asia Region hosted by Myanmar from 3 to 6 September. Dr Uton Muchtar Rafei was welcomed at the Yangon International Airport by Deputy Minister for Health Dr Mya Oo, dirctors-general of the Ministry of Health, Resident Representative of WHO Dr Agostino and wife and officias.

Yangon, 2 Sept- Myanmar Hockey Federation held Meeting No 8/2001 at the meeting hall of the federation yesterday. President of MHF Commander of No 4 Military Region Commandant of the Defence Services Records Office Brig-Gen Myo Myint addressed the meeting. Billboard hailing USDA Annual General Meeting unveiled

Yangon, 2 Sept- A ceremony to unveil the billboard hailing the Annual General Meeting for 2001 of the Union Solidarity and Development Association was held at the corner of Bayintnaung Road and Hledan Road here this morning. Present were Chairman of the Organizing Group of Information Sub-committee U Bo Kyi and members, Chairman of Yangon North District Peace and Development Council Lt-Col Maung Maung Shein and members, Secretary of Yangon Division USDA U Aye Myint and executives, chairmen and members of Township Peace and Development Councils of Kamayut, Hlaing and Kyimyindine, secretaries and members of Kamayut, Hlaing and Kyimyindine Township USDAs, members of Township Maternal and Child Welfare Associations, members of Township Committee for Women's Affairs, members of Red Cross Society and Fire Brigade and students totalling over 1,500. Chairman of Yangon North District Peace and Development Council U Maung Maung Soe, Executives of Yangon Division USDA U Min Thein and Chairman of Kamayut Township Peace and Development Council U Myo Khaing Wai formally opened the billboard.

Sanitation carried out to hail annual general meeting of USDA

Yangon, 2 Sept- Hailing the annual meeting of Union Solidarity and Development Association, sanitation work was carried out at Sanpya Hospital in Thin-gangyun this morning. It was organised by Yangon East District USDA. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minster for Health Prof Dr Kyaw Myint, Central Executive Committee Member of USDA Col Maung Pa, Secretary U Aye Myint of Yangon Division USDA and executives, Secretary U Tin Hlaing and executives of Yangon East District, Medical Superintendent U M Jar Naw and officials and secretaries, executives and members of 14 townships in Yangon East District. The members of USDA also made blood donation at the hospital. Similar ceremony organized by Yangon North District USDA was held at Insein General hospital.

Yangon, 2 Sept- Annual Meeting of Parents- Teachers Association and Outstanding Prize Presentation Ceremony for 2000-2001 academic year were held at U Ba Lwin hall of No 2 Basic Education High School in Dagon Township this morning. It was attended by Patron of PTA wife of late Lt-Gen Tin Oo Daw Khin Than Nwe and patrons, Deputy Director-General (Education) U Nu of No 3 Basic Education Department, Township Education officer U Tin Kway, Chairman of PTA Headmaster U Tin Hlaing and executives, members of the school board of trustees, parents, teachers and students. The headmaster, Chairman of Myanma Academy of Arts and Science U Than Oo and the deputy director-general made speeches.

Members of MWEA recount experience of Global Conference of Entrepreneurs

Yangon, 2 Sept- Members of Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs Association who attended the eighth Global Conference of Entrepreneurs held in Bali, Indonesia, from 5 to 8 August recounted their experience at the building of Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs Association this morning. Present were Patron of the association Writer Daw Saw Mon Nyin, Chairperson Daw Sein Sein, Vice-Chairperson Daw Khin Myint Myint and executives. Chairperson Daw Sein Sein, Vice-Chairperson Daw Khin Myint Myint and Adviser Daw Wah Wah Tun recounted their experiences.

Japanese youth tour Yangon

Yangon, 2 Sept-  Japanese youth delegation led by Mr Taisuke Togashi who are visiting here under the International Youth Development Programme sponsored by the Japanese Government Office, together with Executive of Yangon Division Union Solidarity and Development Association U Tin Maung Win and officials, continued their visit in Yangon today. The youth delegation arrived at Kyaikwaing Youth Training School of Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Mayangon Township this morning. Principal of the school U Win Zaw explained facts about the school and work being done. Then, the youth delegation proceeded to Social Welfare Training School of the Social Welfare Department. Principal of the school Daw Tin Tin Mya explained the work of the department and courses being conducted at the school. The youth of the delegation and the trainees of the school introduced each other and had a photo taken. Afterwards, the youth delegation went to the School for the Aged where they were conducted round by officials. The youth delegation also visited No 4 Pre-Primary School of the Social Welfare Department in Ahlon Township.

Yangon, 2 Sept- Trainees of Course in Basic Diplomatic Skill 4/2001 conducted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs donated cash to Htaukkyant Childcare Centre of Social Welfare Department in Mingaladon Township this morning. First, the trainees donated K 179,150 to Headmistress Daw Kyi Kyi Win for the centre. Then, the headmistress accepted blankets, soap powder, clothings, sweets, tooth brushes and tubes of tooth paste donated by the trainees.

The ceremony was attended by division-level officials, family members of the company and invited guests. Commercial Attache of the Korean Embassy Mr Kim Jae-chan, Chaiman Mr Francis Lee of Tong Yik Impex Co of Singapore and Mangaing Director U Aung Tun of Aung Thabye Trading Co Ltd made speeches. Aung Thabye Trading Co Ltd sold Korean made linoleum, carpet and waterproof as the sole agent and in commemoration of the opening of the ninth showroom it offers 5 to 10 percent discount up to 30 September.
