As projects are being launched  phase by phase for the progress of the higher education sector, the basic education sector is also being  developed in accord with the education promotion programmes.

At present, the curricula of the basic education sector are being upgraded to provide a proper link between the two education sectors. The future goals of the basic education sectors are  for flourishing of an  education system which is on a par with those of the world nations; for emergence of human resources  which can build and defend the peaceful, developed and modern nation; for emergence of good citizens  equipped with the Union Spirit, patriotism and all-round education; to bring out outstanding persons who  can bring about progress of the State and the community; and emergence of a constant learning society.

A long-term plan is also being held to upgrade education standard of Myanmar up to  international level. In implementing education promotion plans, more success has been achieved than  expected.

This can be attributed to the participation of the people.
