for construction of four-story diamond jubilee building of Mingalar
Yama Pali Tekkatho Kyaungtaik
YANGON, 3 June - The second cash donation
ceremony for construction of the four-story diamond jubilee
building of Mingalar Yama Pali Tekkatho Kyaungtaik on Theinbyu Road,
Botahtaung Township, was held in conjunction with the
cornerstone-laying ceremony for construction of that building at the
Kyaungtaik, attended by Secretary-1 of the State Peace and
Development Council Lt-Gen. Khin Nyunt.
Also present were member of the State Peace and
Development Council Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and
Development Council Commander Maj-Gen Khin Maung Than, ministers,
deputy ministers, officials of the State Peace and Development
Council Office, heads of department, wellwishers and guests.
The Secretary-1 and party received the Five
Precepts from Chairman of Botahtaung Township Sangha Nayaka
Committee Agga Maha Gandavacaka Pandita Bhaddanta Kavidhaja.
Then, the Sayadaws and members of the Sangha
recited Parittas. The Secretary-1 presented offertories and the
casket to be placed at the foundation to the Sayadaws.
Afterwards, the well-wishers made donations to
the fund for construction of the four-story diamond jubilee
building.
The donations included K 3 million by U Maung
Maung (Asia Express Co Ltd), K 1.5 million by Daw Shu Sein and
family, K 500,000 by U Maung Hla, Daw Shwe Sein and Daw Mya Lwin and
family, K 1 million by Daw Aye Myint and family, K 500,000 by U
Kyaw Khin and family, K 500,000 by Daw Saw Khin and family, K
300,000 by Daw Saw Myint (Ngwe San Yaung Press), K 300,000 by U Aung
Soe Hla-Daw Khin Win Kyi and family, K 300,000 by Daw Khin Aye Kyu
and family (Wood-based Industry) totalling K 15 million.
The Secretary-1 and the ministers accepted the
donations and presented certificates of honour to the wellwishers.
Member of the State Central Working Committee of the Sangha Taikok
Sayadaw of Mingalar Yama Pali Tekkatho Kyaungtaik Agga Maha
Gandavacaka Pandita Bhaddanta Ratthasara delivered a sermon.
Next, the cornerstone-laying ceremony was held.
The Secretary-1, the commander and party took designated places.
The Secretary-1 laid the casket at the centre of the foundation.

designated places. The Secretary-1 sprinkled scented water on the
casket and the stone plaque. The Secretary-1 then performed the

Seminar on Advanced Technology of "Renolith" Road Construction
YANGON, 3 June- Seminar on Advanced Technology of
"Renolith" Road Construction, jointly sponsored by Htoo Trading Co
Ltd and Zarli Industrial & Construction Co Ltd, was held at the
Sedona Hotel this morning, attended by Secretary-1 of the State
Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen. Khin Nyunt.
Also present were member of the State Peace and
Development Council Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and
Development Council Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Khin Maung
Than, ministers, senior military officers, officials of the State
Peace and Development Council Office, heads of department,
construction entrepreneurs and guests.
Chairman of Htoo Trading Co Ltd U Teza explained
that Renolith is a modern liquid to be used in building advanced
concrete roads. It is different from chemical road spray. Renolit
concrete roads do not need iron rods and they can be built with the
mixture of earth, cement and Renolith liquid. Unlike conventional
roads, they have special qualities.
Renolith liquid can be used not only in road
construction but also in irrigation work and it is a road
construction technique which is widely used in the nations of the
world. Senior Technical Director of International Renolit
Corporation Ltd Dr Stephen Buttling reported on the use of Renolith
liquid in various construction projects with audio visual aids.
Project Director (Road) of Zarli Industrial &
Construction Co Ltd U Maung San reported on the concrete-laying
technique and replied to queries. The Secretary-1 and party
inspected sample concrete blocks made with Renolith liquid and
documentary photos on road construction. They were conducted round
by Chairman of Htoo Trading Co Ltd U Teza and Managing Director of
Zarli Industrial & Construction Co Ltd U Zaw Oo. In road

YANGON, 3 June - A ceremony to open the garment
factory of Letwah Company Ltd was held at No 73/b on
Mintheikdikyawswa Road in Hlinethaya Industrial Zone-3, Hlinethaya
Township, this morning, attended by Secretary-1 of the State Peace
and Development Council Lt-Gen. Khin Nyunt. Also present were member
of the State Peace and Development Council Chairman of Yangon
Division Peace and Development Council Commander Maj-Gen Khin Maung
Than, the ministers, deputy ministers, officials of the State Peace
and Development Council Office, heads of departments, the
chairperson, the vice-chairperson and members of Myanmar Maternal
and Child
Welfare Association, Managing Director of Letwah Company Ltd U Khin

Minister for Cooperatives U Aung San and members of the board of
directors of Letwah Co Ltd Professor Daw Than Than Tin and Daw San
San May formally opened the garment factory.
The Secretary-1 formally unveiled the signboard
and Secretary-1 attends opening the bronze plaque of the factory.
Then, the Secretary-1 and party toured the factory. Afterwards, a
ceremony to donate cash and sewing machines was held to mark the
opening of the garment factory. Professor Daw Than Than Tin
presented K 500,000 for the Tatmadaw members who are discharging
duties at the forefront, and 10 singer sewing machines for MMCWA.
The garment factory will market clothes at home and abroad. Then,
the Secretary-1 and party inspected development of Hlaingthaya
Industrial Zone-2.
The Secretary-1 and party went to the disposable
syringe factory of Myanmar Jick-Young Co Ltd and the bamboo- based
consumer goods factory of New Golden Bamboo Industry Ltd at No 41 on
Mintheikdi Kyawswa Road, Hlaingthaya Industrial Zone-2.
They were welcomed there by Chairman of the
Company U Myat Kaung and officials. Chairman U Myat Kaung extended
greetings. Administrative Officer of Myanmar Jick-Young Co Ltd Daw
Padonmma Aung and Managing Director of New Golden Bamboo Industry
Ltd U Ye Win Aung reported on the work of the factories.
Chairman U Myat Kaung presented a 24-Picci Pathan
Desanado chart made of bamboo to the Secretary-1. Managing Director

syringes worth K 500,000; Managing Director of New Golden Bamboo

The Secretary-1 accepted the donations. Then, the
Secretary-1 and party observed bamboo parquets, consumer goods and
household goods made of bamboo and disposable syringes. Next, the
Secretary-1 and party inspected the disposable syringe factory and
bamboo-based industries.
Afterwards, the Secretary-1 and party proceeded
to Silver Lion Fibre Glass of Silver Lion Industrial Co Ltd at No
36 on Phanchetwun U Shwe Oh at Hlaingthaya Industrial-2. Managing
Director U Tin Maung Yee reported on the establishment of the
factory and production of fibre wares. Then, the Secretary-1 and
party inspected products of the factory fibre glass tanks,
bath-tubs, basins, tables, chairs, life-boats, fibre boats, hats and
ornamental wares.
After that, the Secretary-1 and party inspected
construction of Hlaingthaya-Htantabin Short Cut and development
tasks of Htantabin region. The Secretary-1 arrived at Wahtaya
Village in Htantabin Township. In meeting with villagers of Wahtaya,
Daikgon and Htaingon Village-tracts, the Secretary-1 said that
Hlaingthaya-Htantabin Short Cut has been built, and with the use of
this short cut, villagers from nearby villages can now travel
easily. In addition, the education, health, social and regional
development conditions of nearby villages will improve.
Therefore, villagers need to work hard and
diligently in order to improve their standard of living. They are
required to carry out regional development tasks with might and
main. Next, the Secretary-1 presented medicines for the rural
clinic of Wahtaya Village and exercise books and stationery for
Pauktan Village Primary School. Later, the Secretary-1 and party
inspected the completion of Hlaingthaya-Htantabin Short Cut.

(4) New school building
handed over
YANGON, 3 June-A ceremony to hand over a new
school building of Affiliated Basic Education Middle School,
Mongzin Village, Kengtung Township, Shan State (East), to the
Ministry of Education was held on 31 May.
It was attended by Commander of Triangle Region
Command Chairman of Shan State (East) Peace and Development Council
Maj-Gen Thein Sein and high-ranking military officers, members of
Shan State (East) Peace and Development Council, officials of
Hongpang Co of Shan State (North) Special Region 2 and guests.
The new building is 120 metres long and 10.5
metres wide. It was constructed at a cost of K 14 million. It
consists of 14 classrooms, four teachers’ rooms and eight toilets.

Lawkananda water pumping project site in Bagan-NyaungU
YANGON, 3 June-Minister for Agriculture and
Irrigation Maj-Gen Nyunt Tin and officials arrived at Lawkananda
river-water pumping project site in Bagan-NyaungU Township on 1
June. Director-General of Water Resources Utilization Department U
Win Shwe reported on tasks to be undertaken. The minister and party
inspected the construction site for the river-water pumping station,
the condition of Ayeyawady River and the site chosen for the main
canal and secondary and tertiary canals.
The minister then inspected the site chosen for
construction of Naga Creek Dam Project near Naga Village in
Yenangyoung Township.
He discussed the condition of Naga Creek, supply
of drinking water, greening of its environs and cultivation of
crops with departmental officials and farmers. The minister chose
the site and made necessary arrangements.
The minister and party inspected cultivation of
monsoon sesamum in Kanbya Village in Magway Division. Managing
Director of Myanma Agriculture Service U Tun Than and Division
Manager U Khin Maung Htwe reported on the cultivation method and
dissemination of agricultural education.
Yesterday morning, the minister and party
inspected plantations of pre-monsoon long staple cotton near Myinkin
Z-craft jetty in Magway. General Manager of Myanma Cotton and
Sericulture Enterprise Dr Thein Han reported on work. The minister
gave instructions on cultivation methods and dissemination of
agricultural education for farmers.

Lake. Director of Magway Division Irrigation Department U Hoke Kyi
reported on cultivation of monsoon paddy on 2,000 acres.

river-water pumping project near Lethagon in Salin Township, the

YANGON, 3 June-Minister for Transport Maj-Gen Hla
Myint Swe accompanied by Deputy Minister U Pe Than, inspected three
dredgers for Department for Water Resources and Improvement of River
Systems anchored at Nanthida Jetty here this afternoon. The
minister inspected the dredgers and heard the reports on them by
the deputy minister and Director-General U Chit Khin of the
department. After giving instructions, the minister left there. The
dredgers, Back Hoe dredger, Side Casting dredger and Hopper dredger

YANGON, 3 June-A collective tree planting
ceremony was held in Amarapura Township, Mandalay District
yesterday attended by Chairman of Mandalay Division Peace and
Development Council Commander of Central Command Maj-Gen Ye Myint,
high-ranking military officers, departmental officials, members of
various associations and local people. A total of 4,770 trees were
grown at the ceremony. Afterwards, the commander inspected
agriculture work in Lankwa village, Myittha township and irrigation

(9) Sea prawn breeding
discussed
YANGON, 3 June- A meeting on allotment of sea
prawn breeding ponds was held at the office of Ayeyawady Division
Peace and Development Council in Pathein on 30 May. Present were
Ayeya-wady Division Peace and Development Council Chairman
South-West Command Commander Maj-Gen Thura Shwe Mann, departmental
heads, Deputy Minister for Livestock and Fisheries U Aung Thein and
officials, livestock breeding experts and skilled practitioners.
The deputy minister spoke of breeding sea prawn in foreign countries
and local breeding. Then, a general round of discussions followed.
The commander gave specific instructions. The commander also held a
coordination meeting with education officers of the townships in the
division. The education officers and secretaries of district Peace
and Development Councils reported on work done. The commander gave
instructions on the objectives of the Ministry of Education and
future tasks, and fulfilled the requirements.

No-Tobacco Day observed in Kengtung
YANGON, 3 June- World No-Tobacco Day was observed
at the hall of Township Development Committee, Kengtung, on 31 May,
attended by Chairman of Shan State (East) Peace and Development
Council Commander of Triangle Region Command Maj-Gen Thein Sein,
senior military officers, departmental officials, Kengtung Township
Maternal and Child Welfare Association members, teachers, students,
local people and guests. The commander gave an opening speech.
Medical Superintendent Dr Than Maung gave talks on no-smoking
activities being undertaken in Myanmar and specialist Dr Yan Lin
Myint on hazards of tobacco. Then, the commander and officials
presented prizes to students who were outstanding at the World No-
