I would like to give necessary guidance to you at
the conclusion ceremony. You have already studied theoretically and
practically all the subjects prescribed for the courses.
The trainees of Myanmar and International Studies
Course have studied the Myanmar and international affairs,
nation-building endeavours and cultural heritage in five divisions
and compiled the papers on the national affairs and the national
progress group-wise. The trainees have not only completed
theoretical and practical studies but also shared their knowledge
at the courses.
At the Advanced Management Course for Executives
of USDA, the trainees have studied Myanma political history,
nation-building projects, economics, basic military science, basic
journalism and other technical subjects.
It is heartening to learn that the trainees have
attended the courses with keen interest and perseverance.
All the necessary requirements are being
fulfilled on every front in building a peaceful, modern and
developed nation. Designating "the establishing of a peaceful,
tranquil, modern and developed nation" as a national goal, we have
relied mainly on our internal strength in implementing the main
tasks during the period of over ten years. In the political sector,
internal peace and stability and national consolidation have been
built up in a practical way. There are both good and bad legacies
in the history of a nation. The duty of the new generation youth is
to preserve the good legacy and to end the consequences of the evil
legacy. Due to the conditions Myanmar had faced after
regaining independence, peace, stability, amity and unity have
become the main national requirements. Thus, over the past ten
years, the government has striven to restore amity, unity and
understanding among the national people and welcomed back armed
groups to join hands in serving the national interest.
The nation must be built with the forces of the
nationalities. The amity, solidarity, unity, patriotism, Union
Spirit, intellectual power and social ability are national
strengths. We believe that the national strengths can defend and
build the nation.
The new generation youth play a key role in
building the national force. Thus, USDA was founded for the
emergence of a national force which can maintain peace and stability
and safeguard and develop the State.
The pledge included in the Chapter I, the basic
principles of the association, says "I hereby pledge that I will
endeavour to strengthen the Union of Myanmar, to promote love and
understanding among indigenous peoples, to strengthen State
sovereignty, to safeguard territorial integrity, to develop the
country and to build a peaceful and modern State." The pledge of
USDA is also the inborn duty of the entire national people. All the
youth in the entire nation are actively partaking in USDA which has
emerged with the noble pledge. All-round efforts have been made to
enhance the quality of the USDA force. The USDA members have been
nurtured in enabling them to
always keep in their hearts the customs, traditions and culture,
literature, arts and noble national spirit. They are also being
nurtured to be able to dutifully realize Our Three Main National
Causes. Continuous efforts are being made to promote and propagate
Union Spirit, which will preserve the values of the Union and peace
and unity, among the members.
A large number of working programmes have been
laid down and implemented in all the sectors and regions for
emergence of a peaceful, tranquil, modern and developed nation.
Projects have been laid down and implemented for progress of all
sectors including economic infrastructures, energy infrastructures,
agricultural, livestock breeding and industrial undertakings and
education, health, social and cultural spheres.
Nawade Bridge on Ayeyawady River in Pyay
Township, Bago Division, Ayeyawady River Bridge linking Magway and
Minbu Townships in Magway Division, Anawrahta Bridge on the
Ayeyawady in Chauk Township and Ayeyawady River Bridge construction
project to link Mandalay and Sagaing, which the trainees of Myanmar
and International Studies Course have visited in April, are only
some of the projects the government is implementing to fulfil the
nation’s transport requirements.
A network of roads and bridges which have been
built in the nation with a large amount of money are the main
economic infrastructures. There are 16 already-completed bridges and
bridges under construction on the Ayeyawady, the Chindwin, the
Sittoung and the Thanlwin, which are the main rivers of the nation
flowing from north to south.
It can also be said that they are the essential
investment for national economic progress.
After the ceremony , the Senior General cordially
met the trainees and had the luncheon together with the trainees at
Byintnaung Hall.
Later, the Senior General and party had
