(1)  Secretary-1 inspects regional development tasks in Kyauktan Township 

YANGON, 3 June- Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt,  accompanied by member of the State Peace and Development Council Chairman of Yangon Division  Peace and Development Council Commander , the ministers, the Commander-in-Chief (Air), the deputy  ministers, officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office, heads of department and  officials, left here by Tatmadaw aircraft this morning and arrived at Modern Model Agricultural Special
Zone Project of Myanma Agricultural Service at Pilakhat Village, Kyauktan Township.

The Secretary-1 met with farmers from the region covered by the project.  Deputy Minister for  Agriculture and Irrigation Brig-Gen Khin Maung reported on production of crops in the region covered  by the project.

Then, General Manager of MAS U San Myint reported on production of crops in Kyauktan Township,  the annual target of crop production in the projected region.  Local farmers reported on requirements  pertaining to agriculture, education and regional development. Commander of Yangon Division  explained matters related to reclamation of modern model fields.

Minister for Education U Than Aung reported on matters pertaining to education.

Then, the Secretary-1 and party went to Mayanzweba Embankment Building Site in Shanchaung Village,  Kyauktan Township.

The Secretary-1 urged local people to strive for agricultural development accepting the leadership of the  government and close supervision of agriculturists.

The Secretary-1 and party inspected progress of work of Mayanzwebar embankment, arrangements for  cultivation on reclaimed farmlands and breeding of sea prawn.

The Secretary-1 and party went to Myanmar International Terminals Thilawa(MITT)where they were  welcomed by the deputy ministers, heads of departments and officials of MITT and Myanmar  Integrated Port Ltd.

Next, General Manager Mr Cheung Ching Tai of MITT reported on investment in MITT, management and implementation, layout of wharf, operation and present condition of MITT, future prospects.

The Secretary-1 gave instruction, inspected MITT and left in the afternoon.


(2)Secretary-2 visits construction project of Aungzeya Bridge 

YANGON, 3 June- Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo inspected construction project of Aungzeya Bridge linking Insein and Hlinethaya Townships today.

Secretary-2 Lt-Gen Tin Oo inspected progress of work on the bridge.

Then, Secretary-2 Lt-Gen Tin Oo attended to their needs.

Secretary-2 Lt-Gen Tin Oo presented fruit baskets to Chinese technicians who are participating in the  project and left there in the afternoon.


(3) Minister inspects timber extraction in Bago Division

YANGON, 2 June-Minister for Forestry U Aung Phone, accompanied by officials of Myanmar Timber  Enterprise, met Division manager of Bago Division (West), managers of saw mill in Thayawady and  Pyay on 1 June.

The extraction and transportation of teak and hard wood and wood cutting at saw mill were discussed.

The minister and party inspected Nyaungchayhtauk and Kyaukphuthit Saw Mills in Padaung Township yesterday.

Minister U Aung Phone met managers from Hinthada, Ayeyawady Division, Pathein (North) and Pathein (West) at Kondan raft jetty on Pathein-Monywa Road and at Saw Mill No 106 in Ngathainggyong.

They discussed extraction, transportation and distribution of timber for 2000-2001.

The minister arrived back here this morning.

(4) Minister inspects roads, bridges in Ayeyawady Division 

YANGON, 3 June- Minister for Construction Maj-Gen Saw Tun, together with Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Myint Thein and officials, inspected Wakema-Myaungmya Road on 29 May.

The minister and deputy minister and deputy minister inspected Labutta-Pinlelay sections and Labutta Bridge(Linlelay) on 30 June.  They then inspected Myaungmya, Myinkaseik-Pathein road.


(5) Minister inspects bridges, roads

YANGON-3 June-Minister for Rail Transportation U Pan Aung and officials inspected Yanpe Creek Bridge No 343 between Koebin and Satthwa railway stations in Magway Division yesterday.

The minister also inspected Yanpe Creek Bridge No 52 between Pithanoe and Yinthasi railway stations, Myinkya Creek bridge on Bagan-Myingyan railway road and Sindewa creek railway bridge.

The minister gave instructions to Division engineers and officials.

Then, Minister U Pan Aung inspected bridges and railroads between Myingyan and Mandalay.


(6)  Minister inspects Ear, Nose & Throat Hospital in Yangon

YANGON, 3 June- Minister for Health Maj-Gen Ket Sein, accompanied by Director-General Dr Wan Maung of Health Department and officials, inspected renovation of a new disease control building to be used by HD on Upper Pansodan Street, here, this morning.

Minister for Health Maj-Gen Ket Sein and party proceeded to Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital on Byaing Yeosin Street, Tammwe Township, and inspected functions of the respective departments and units and installation of medical equipment.

The minister gave instructions on provision of more medical equipment, installation of lifts and extension of staff quarters and keeping the environs of the hospital clean and pleasant.

(7) Minister inspects rice mills, warehouses in Bago

YANGON, 3 June-Minister for Commerce Brig-Gen Pyi Sone, together with Managing Director of Myanma Agricultural Produce Trading U Tin Shwe and officials, arrived at No 132 Rice Mill of MAPT in Kamanat Village, Bago, Bago Division, yesterday morning.

The minister gave instructions on the operation of the mill at full capacity, maintenance of machinery, fire prevention measures and cultivation measures and cultivation of seasonal crops, perennial crops, shady trees and flowering plants in the vacant plots of the mill compound, and warehouses.

Then, the minister and party went to No 09 Bran Oil Mill of MAPT on Thanatpin Road in Kamanat Village.

Officials reported on matters related to the mill.

The minister gave instructions and inspected the mill.

After that, the minister and party proceeded to Poland Warehouse Group-2 of MAPT in Bago.

The minister gave instructions on storage of paddy in the warehouses, and urged employees to work hard and to be loyal to the nation.

The minister and party inspected the site designated to build paddy warehouses near Bago and poultry farms of MAPT employees.

Then, Minister U Win Aung and Ambassador Mr Liang Dong formally opened the photo exhibition. After opening exhibition, Secretary-3 Lt- Gen Win Myint, minister and deputy ministers, ambassadors and embassy staff and guest inspected the exhibition.  The photo exhibition will open up to 4 June from 9 am to 5 pm daily with free charge.


(8) Minister participates in planting of trees

YANGON, 3 June- Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee Minister for Sports Brig-Gen Thura Aye Myint, accompanied by General Secretary of MOC Director-General of Sports and Physical Education Department Col Thaung Htaik and officials, attended a ceremony to plant trees in front of National Indoor Stadium 1 in Thuwunna, and joined a total of 115 service personnel in planting 112 saplings.

The minister and party proceeded to Youth Training Centre where over 100 staff and athletes planted 150 saplings.

The minister and party went on to the tree-planting ceremony at Sports and Physical Education Institute on Kyaikkasan Ground.

Then, the Minister and party inspected the sanitation work being carried out by 470 employees at Aung San Stadium.


(9) Myanmar delegation leaves for Kunming Trade Fair

YANGON, 3 June  - A 15 member delegation led by member of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry U Than Htaik Aung left here by air this morning to attend Kunming Trade Fair 2000 in which the booths of Ministry of Commerce will be opened, in Kunming, Yunnan Province, People's Republic of China, from 6 to 10 June.


(10) 18 Kani Township NLD members resign

YANGON, 3 June - Eighteen members resigned from the National League for Democracy of Kani Township, Sagaing Division.

Eighteen members of Kani Township NLD, Sagaing Division, of their own accord, resigned by sending letters of resignation to Kani Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Sub-commission and the party concerned on 27 April 2000 as they no longer wished to participate in party politics of NLD.
