The Secretary-l spoke of the need to give priority to those who do not own farms in allotting reclaimed land, to open an agricultural education station in Shan-chaung village and to make efforts for completion of Mayanzweba Embankment in time, looking into the requirements on regional progress under Streaking including education and health.

At his meeting with local people, the Secretary-l said local farmers are doing their business with zeal and sincerity in the southern sector of Kyauktan Township which is a paddy cultivation region. Embankments are being built to prevent naturally upturned land from flooding with sea water in the coastal areas for the benefit of farmers. As new land upsurge between the existing dykes and the sea front, a new embankment is being built as a shield against sea water.

National entrepreneurs are being permitted to reclaim large stretches of land in the inland regions of the nation as the tasks need much capital and heavy equipment.

The government is building an embankment in the region to give protection to the naturally formed land. The newly upturned land will be allotted to local people who do not own farms. Most of the remote regions of Kyauktan Township had become accessible as new roads are being built in the area.

When the new embankment is completed a motor way will be built on the existing dyke to become a coastal road benefiting the region. As the government will grant land to farmers, they will gain benefits depending on their perseverance.

The government is giving encouragement to the task ensuring regional progress and improvement of social lives of the people as the nation will become rich only when the people are prosperous. It is also giving priority to national progress as it will lead to flourishing of the spirit of solidarity and Union Spirit. The region won second prize in sunflower cultivation in the entire nation presented by World Food Organization last year. Efforts are required to maintain the success of the township. As the government is rendering assistance for the progress of agricultural and transport sectors, the entire people should strive with utmost efforts from the respective sectors for national progress.
