 (1)Strive for further development of human resources with in-depth politicl, economic and social knowledge about six million youths given training in courses conducted by USDA

YANGON, 17 Nov - The closing ceremony of Advanced Management Course No 6 and the Management Course No 20 for Executives of the Union Solidarity Development Association was held in Pyidaungsu Hall of Central Public Relations Unit in Hmawby Township this morning, with an adress by Patron of the Union Solidarity and Development Association Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Than Shwe.

Senior General Than Shwe gave guidance at the closing ceremony  of Advanced Management Course No 6 and Management Course No 20 for Executives of the USDA.

After the ceremony, the Senior General cordially met the trainees and had lunch together with them in the Bayintnaung Hall.

Senior General Than Shwe and Patrons of the Association posed for photographs with the trainees in the Pyidaungsu Hall. Senior General Than Shwe later left the Central Public Relations Unit.


(2)Secretary-2 meets officials of Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry

YANGON, 17 Nov - Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo met the president and officials of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry at the office of the federation this evening.

Secretary-2 spoke of making the federation strong, enabling the federation to effectively carry out organisational works, to discharge duties assigned, and to stand as an organisation having dignity and influence, and exporting Myanmar's products to international markets.


(3)Secretary-3 meets Leader of Basketball Team of Jinan Military Command

YANGON, 17 Nov - Secretary-3 of the .State Peace and Development Council and   Chairman of Administration Committee for Defence Services Sports and Physical Education Adjutant-General Lt-Gen Win Myint met leader of basketball team Senior Col Jiang Zhong Yu and members of Jinan Military Command of the People' s Liberation Army from the People's Republic of China, currently here to play goodwill basketball match with team at Dagon Yeiktha of the Ministry of Defence at 4 pm today.

The guests were accompanied by Counsellor of Chinese Embassy Mr Tang Ying and Military, Naval and Air Attache Senior Colonel Ma Shoudong.


(4)Adjutant-General hosts dinner in honour of Jinan Military Command Basketball Team of PRC

YANGON, 17 Nov - Secretary-3 of the State Peace and Development Council and Chairman of Administration Committee for Defence Services Sports and Physical Education Adjutant-General Lt-Gen Win Myint hosted dinner in honour of Leader of Basketball Team Senior Col Jiang Zhong Yu and members of Jinan Military Command of People's Liberation Army from People's Republic of China, currently here to play goodwill basketball matches with Myanmar Tatmadaw Basketball Team, at Mya Yeik Nyo Royal Hotel in Bahan Township at 7 pm today.

It was attended by senior Tatmadaw officers (Army, Navy, Air) of Ministry of Defence, Counsellor of Chinese Embassy Mr Taing and Military Naval and Air Attache Senior Colonel Ma Shoudong.


(5)Deputy Prime Minister meets President of Japan JMT Co

YANGON, 17 Nov - Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of Myanmar Investment Commission Vice-Admiral Maung Maung Khin met President of JMT Co Ltd of Japan Mr Isao Kobayashi and party who called at his office at 11.30 am today.

Also present at the call were Minister at the State Peace and Development Council Chairman's Office ,and Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission and officials.


(6)Deputy Prime Minister meets MD of Thilawa Cement & Building Materials

YANGON, 17 Nov - Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of Myanmar Investment Commission Vice-Admiral Maung Maung Khin met Managing Director of Thilawa Cement & Building Materials Ltd Mr Wolgang Perner and party who called at his office at 11 am today.

Also present at the call were Minister at the State Peace and Development Council Chairman's Office and Secretary of Myanma Investment Commission and officials.


(7)National Convention Convening Commission meets

YANGON, 17 Nov - National Convention Convening Commission held its meeting at the Commission Office this afternoon.  Present were Chairman of National Convention Convening Commission Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, Vice-Chairman Maj-Gen Sein Htwa and members.

National Convention Work Committee and Management Committee reported on matters of the National Convention Members of the commission took part in the discussions.

The meeting ended after closing remarks given by Maj-Gen Saw Lwin.


(8)Minister meets Chairman of EATI

YANGON, 17 Nov - Minister for Industry-l U Aung Thaung met Chairman of European Asian Technology & Investment (EATI) of Malaysia Mr Q.Quattrochi who called at his office at 5 pm today.

They discussed-matters related to the project of a new pharmaceutical factory in Pyin-Oo-Lwin, Mandalay Division.

Also present at the call were Deputy Minister and directors-general and managing-directors of departments and enterprises.


(9)Secretary of MIC meets MD of Gasing Height Sdn Bhd of Malaysia

YANGON, 17 Nov - Minister at the State Peace and Development Council Chairman's Office Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission Brig-Gen Maung Maung today met Managing Director Mr Tan Yeow Khoon of Gasing Height Sdn Bhd of Malaysia at MIC office.

Present at the call were officials of Directorate of Investment and Companies Administration .


(10)Singapore monk makes donation for SWD schools

YANGON, 17 Nov - Venerable Shi Ming Yi of Singapore today donated US $ 1500 to training schools under the Social Welfare Department through Minister for Social Welfare Relief and Resettlement Maj-Gen Sein Htwa.

Present on the occasion were Director-General of SWD, Deputy Director-General of Fire Services Department , Director-General of Relief and Resettlement Department and Head of Office.


(11)281 members resign from Kyaiklat Township NLD

YANGON, 17 Nov - Two hundred and eighty-one members resigned from the National League for Democracy of Kyaiklat Township Ayeyawady Division.

Two hundred and eighty-one members of Kyaiklat Township NLD, Ayeyawady Division, of their own volition, resigned by sending letters of resignation to Kyaiklat Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission Office and the party concerned on 18 August 1999 as they no longer wished to participate in party politics of NLD.
