(1) Donations for All-round Perpetual Renovation of Shwedagon Pagoda

YANGON, 6 Nov-A ceremony to make donations including gold plates for All-round Perpetual Renovation of the Shwedagon Pagoda was held at the ancient Buddha Image Tazaung this morning, attended by Patron of All-round Perpetual Renovation of the Shwedagon Pagoda Secretary-l of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt.

Well-wishers U Kyaw Nay Win donated K 900,000 for Tagundaing at north-east corner on the pagoda platform and renovation of portrait of Upagutta; Minister for Mines Brig-Gen Ohn Myint and wife Daw San San one gold plate weighing three ticals; Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Brig-Gen Khin Maung and wife Daw Aye Aye Cho one gold plate weighing three ticals; U Kyaw Hlaing-Daw Yi Yi Myint K 1 million for Shwethingan; U Nay Win Tun-Daw Nan Aye Aye Myint and family, son of PaO national race leader of Shan State (South) U Aung Kham Hti-Daw Nan Phyu K I million for Shwethingan; U Phone Mya-Daw Mya Khin of Japan-Myanmar United Brother Co Ltd K 500,000 for transformer; Daw Hla Hla Myint and son and daughter K 300,000 for Shwethingan; with the patronage of Daw Khin Tint, Lt-Col Thaung Sein (Retd) and Daw Kyi Kyi Than a pair of diamond earrings for Htidaw design pagoda; U Win Thein of Mayangon one gold plate weighing three ticals; U Win Pe-Daw Aye Aye Myint and family of Ngahtatgyi Pagoda Road one gold plate weighing three ticals; in memory of late Major Tin Hla, E3r Daw Tin Aye and family two gold plates weighing two ticals and Daw Kyi and family of Hline Township K 50.000.

The Secretary-l accepted the donations and presented certificates of honour to the donors.

The Secretary-1 and party inspected Seinphudaw and Hngetmyatnadaw to be hoisted on the Shwedagon Htidaw design Pagoda, renovation of religious buildings at the pagoda, renovation of Daw Dagon Khin Khin Lay Tazaung, construction of the Shwedagon Htidaw design Pagoda and Yaungdawphwint Tazaung and gave instructions.



(2) Secretary-1 inspects FMI Garden City Housing Project and factories in Hlinethaya City of Industry

YANGON, 6 Nov-Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt inspected FMI Padaythabin City Housing Project and factories in Hlinethaya City of Industry in Hlinethaya Township this afternoon.

Accompanied by officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office, Secretary-l Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt arrived at FMI City 3ports Club of FMI Garden Development Ltd at 1.30 pm today.

Director-General of Department of Human Settlement and Housing Development U Arnt Kyaw reported to the Secretary-l on construction of bridges and roads and running of factories in Hlinethaya City of Industry.

Chairman of FMI Garden Development Ltd and SPA/FMI Co Ltd U Thein Wai (a) Mr Serge Pun explained matters related to Panhlaing Golf Resort Project being implemented and progress of work in implementing the housing project to Secretary-1 Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt.

The Secretary-1 gave necessary instructions.

Then, the Secretary-1 and party inspected the sample of Finger Lake No 2 single unit house at FMI City.

The Secretary-1 and party proceeded to Jong Lih Leather Bag Factory on Kyansittha Road in Industrial Zone No 4 and inspected process of leather bag production.

The Secretary-1 and party then went to Three Star Polyethylene Factory at the corner of U Tayoakkyi Street and Hlinethaya Road in Industrial Zone No 4 .

Director U Myint Than reported to the Secretary-l on location of the factory, capital investment, set-up of the staff, capacity of the factory, production of finished products and marketing.

Minister for Industry-l U Aung Thaung presented supplementary reports.

The Secretary-1 gave instructions and inspected production work.

Secretary-l Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt and party went to Panhlaing Golf Resort Project and the housing project being implemented by FMI Garden Development Ltd and SPA/FMI Co Ltd.

Secretary-l Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt inspected progress of work in implementing Panhlaing Golf Resort Project and construction of single unit houses in the resort and gave instructions to officials.

Then, the Secretary-l left there in the evening.


(3) Seventh Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition continues for  twelfth day

YANGON, 6 Nov - The Seventh Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition continued for the twelfth day at the designated venues today.

Altogether 14 competitors took part in boys' basic education level (5-10) Maha Gita evernt and 11 in men' s higher education level old and modern songs event of the song competition at the National Museum on Pyay Road in Dagon Township. Then, 16 competitors took part in girls' basic education level (10-15) old and modern songs event in song competition.

On 7 November, men's higher education level Maha Gita song event and girls' basic education level (10-15) religious song event of song competition will be held at the same venue.

 At the Kanbawza Theatre on Kaba Aye Pagoda Road, nine competitors of girls' basic education level (5-10) took part in song composing competition with the assistance of vocalists and eight in higher education level.

On 7 November, basic education level (15-20) of song composing competition continues at the same venue.

Nine competitors took part in men's amateur level harp event in music competition and five in girls' basic education level (5-10) at the National Theatre.

On 7 November, competitors of men' s higher education level and boys' basic education level (15-20) in harp event of music competition will be held at thc designated venues.

At Padonma Theatre on Bagaya Road in Sangyoung Township, three competitors took part in women's professional level, I S in men' s amateur level and 12 in boys' basic education level xylophone event of music competition.

On 7 November, amateur level, basic education level ( 15-20) and higher education level of Ozi event in music competition will be held at Padonma Theatre.


(4) Secretary-2 attends eighth communal Kathina robes offering ceremony of families of Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation

YANGON, 6 Nov - The eighth communal Kathina robes offering ceremony of families of Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation was held at the assembly hall of the Minister's Office on Thirimingala Avenue on Kaba Aye Pagoda Road in Yankin Township this morning.

Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo attended the ceremony and presented offertories to  Sayadaws.

Also present on the occasion were ministers, deputy ministers, directors-general and managing directors of the ministry and staff families.

Presiding Sayadaw of Thadamma Pitjotayon Sarthintaik in Shwenatha Village, Mingaladon Township, Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Nagavamsa administered the Nine Precepts.

Two members of the Sangha supplicated on Kahtain questions and answers.

Minister Maj-Gen Nyunt Tin and wife Daw Khin Myo Oo and heads of department presented Kathina robes and alms to members of the Sangha.

Then, Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Nagavamsa delivered a sermon, followed by sharing of merits.

Later, officials offered 'soon' to members of the Sangha.


(5) Tatmadaw families, well-wishers donate rice to nunneries, Sarthintaik in Bahan Township

YANGON, 6 Nov- Tatmadaw families of (Army, Navy and Air) and well-wishers donated rice to Sekkanimmitaron Nunnery and Maha Pannarama Yaygyaw Nunnery in Bahan Township at Sekkanimmitaron Nunnery on Gyatawya Street this morning, attended by Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Chief of Bureau of Special Operations Chief of Staff (Army) Lt-Gen Tin Oo.

Administrator Sayadaw Ashin Pannasihabhivamsa of Five Nikaya Sasana Beikman Kyaungtaik of Yankin administered the Eight Precepts.

Then, well-wishers and Yangon Division Peace and Development Council, Yangon City Development Committee, Yangon West District and Bahan Township Peace and Development Councils and departments donated rice, robes, iodized salt, indigenous medicines and oil to the Padana Nayaka nuns.

Afterwards, well-wishers presented K 4,203,000 for construction of extended building of Sekkanimmitaron Nunnery to the Secretary-2 and party.

Director of People's Militia and Frontier Forces Col Than Maung supplicated on the purpose of the donations.

Secretary-2 Lt-Gen Tin Oo gave instructions on systematically setting up the committee for construction of extended Dhammasana building.

The congregation received a sermon followed by sharing of merits.

Similarly, a ceremony to donate provisions to Taunggyi Pariyatti Sarthintaik in Bahan Township was held at.the Sarthintaik at  noon.

The Secretary-2 and party donated provisions to Sayadaws.

Then, Tatmadaw families and well-wishers offered rice to the Nayaka Sayadaw of Sarthintaik.

Director of People's Militia and Frontier Forces Col Than Maung and Director-General U Arnt Maung of Religious Affairs Department supplicated on the purpose of the donations and religious matters.

Administrator Sayadaw of Sarthintaik Bhaddanta Kalyanadhamma delivered a sermon.

The congregation then shared merits eained.


(6) Ministry of PBANRDA holds Maha Kathina offering ceremony

YANGON, 6 Nov-Staff of Ministry of Progress of Border Areas and National Races and Development Affairs held the seventh communal Maha Kathina ceremony in Waizayanta Hall of Tiger Parahita Training School for Development of National Races on Railway Station Road in Hline Township this morning, attended by Secretary2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo.

Sayadaw Bhaddanta Sucittika administered the Five Precepts.

Then, members of the Sangha recited Parittas.

Afterwards, Secretary-2 Lt-Gen Tin Oo, Minister Col Thein Nyunt and wife Daw Kyin Khaing and deputy ministers offered Kathina robes and provisions to the Sayadaws.

Later, Sayadaw Bhaddanta Pandita of Tiger Parahita Training School for Development of National Races delivered a sermon, followed by sharing of merits to mark renovation of the two-storey building of the school.


(7) Thottithena Thambula marionette drama competition continues

YANGON, 6 Nov-The Thottithena Thambula marionette drama competition of the Seventh Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition continued at the National Theatre on Myoma Kyaung Road this evening.

Marionette troupe of Ayeyawady Division took part in the competition.

On 7 November, marionette troupe of Mon State will take part in the competition.


(8) Minister inspects Maha Bandoola Bridge Project

YANGON, 6 Nov-Minister for Construction Maj-Gen Saw Tun together with officials. arrived at Maha Bandoola Bridge Project on the bank of Dawbon Township this morning.

Deputy Superintending Engineer U Ohn Han welcomed them and reported on construction of the approach road on the bank of Dawbon Township.

The minister gave instructions on construction works, and inspected the work of putting up a tower and construction of the  approach road.

Afterwards, the minister and party left for the bank of Pazundaung Township.

Project Director Deputy Superintending Engineer U Ohn Han and officials reported on construction of the bridge.

The minister gave instructions on construction works, and inspected the completion of the tower and the approach road there.


(9) Minister receives cancer specialists

YANGON, 6 NOV-Minister for Health Maj-Gen Ket Sein received Dr Julia Y Djeu and Mr Christopher A Puleo of Cancer Specialists Group of Florida, United States of America, who called at his office at 2 pm today.

Also present on the occasion were Deputy Minister for Health Dr Mya Oo and officials.


(10) Three refuse collection trucks presented from Japan

YANGON, 6 NOV-Environment Construction Engineering Co Ltd (ERDEC) and Shin May Wa Industries Ltd of Japan presented three refuse collection trucks to the State Peace and Development Council Chairman's Office in Shwewa Hall of the Karaweik Palace this morning.

It was jointly arranged by the State Peace and Development Council Chairman's Office and Shambhala Co Ltd.

Joint Secretary of Yangon City Development Committee U Kyi Win, the Ambassador of Japan to Myanmar and officials of  the companies.

Minister at the State Peace and Development Council Chairman' s Office Brig-Gen Abel and Secretary of MCDC Col Aye Tun Shwe accepted documents related to the trucks presented by Managing Director Mr Hidefumi Matsumoto of Shin May Wa Industrial Ltd and Senior Director Mr Keigo Nakajo of Environment Construction Engineering Co Ltd.

Minister Bng-Gen Abel made a speech.

Senior Director Mr Keigo Nakajo explained matters related to the background of ERDEC, and Managing Director Mr Hidefumi Matsumoto, vehicles and machinery manufactured by the company.


(11) Minister of Commerce of ROK leaves for home

YANGON, 6 Nov -The Korean delegation led by Minister of Commerce Mr Han Duck-Soo of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commerce, the Republic of Korea, and party left here by air yesterday evening.

  They were seen off at Yangon International Airport by Minister for Commerce Brig-Gen Pyi Sone, Deputy Minister for Commerce Brig-Gen Kyaw Hsan, Ambassador of ROK Mr Chung JungGum and officials.


(12) 62 members resign from Pathein Township NLD

YANGON, 6 NOV-Sixty-two members resigned from National League for Democracy of Pathein Township, Ayeyawady Division.

 Sixty-two members of Pathein Township NLD, Ayeyawady Division, of their own volition, resigned by sending letters of resignation to Pathein Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission and the party concerned on 17 July 1999 as they no longer wished to participate in party politics of NLD.


(13) 87 resign in Ngaputaw Township NLD

YANGON, Likewise, eighty-seven members resigned from National League for Democracy of Ngaputaw Township, Ayeyawady Division.

Eight-seven members of Ngaputaw Township NLD, Ayeyawady Division, of their own volition, resigned by sending letters of resignation to Ngaputaw Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission and the party concerned on 17 July 1999 as they no longer wished to participate in party politics of NLD.
