YANGON, 3 Nov - Secretary-l of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen
Khin Nyunt received President of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company
Limited Dr Surakiart Sathirathai from Thailand and party who called at Dagon
Yeiktha of the Ministry of Defence at 4 pm today. Also, present together with
Secretary-1 Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt were Minister for Foreign Affairs, Minister for
Energy, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Director-General of Protocol
Department.

(2) Secretary-1 inspects Orbis Flying Hospital
YANGON, 3 Nov - Chairman of National Health Committee Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt, accompanied by officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office, arrived at Orbis Flying Hospital on board the DC-10 aircraft at Yangon International Airport at 5 pm today.
The Secretary-l was welcomed by ministers, Minister for Health, Deputy Minister for Health, officials of the Ministry of Health, leader of Orbis Flying Hospital Dr Rod Whitty and members.
Then, Secretary-1 and party inspected eye specialists of Myanmar studying eye operation techniques in lecture hall, operation theatre, laser room and recovery room on board the plane. Secretary-l Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt cordially met the patients who have undergone the eye surgery.
Later, the Secretary-1 and party inspected laboratory room of Orbis Flying
Hospital at the airport terminal and left there in the evening.

(3) Marionette drama competition begins
YANGON, 3 Nov - The Thottithena Thambula marionette drama competition of the Seventh Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition began at the National Theatre on Myoma Kyaung Road this evening.
Thottithena Thambula marionette drama troupe of Magway Division took part in the competition.
Also present on the occasion were Secretary-2 of the State Peace and
Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo, Chairman of Leading Committee for Organizing
the Competition member of the State Peace and Development Council Commander of
Yangon Command, the ministers, the deputy ministers, officials of the leading
committee, the work committee and subcommittees, competitors and spectators.

(4) Secretary-3 meets Volleyball Team Leader of Chendu Militaries, Region
YANGON, 3 Nov - Secretary-3 of the State Peace and Development Council President of Defence Services Sports and Physical Administration Committee Adjutant-General Lt-Gen Win Myint met Volleyball Team Leader Col Wang Yuanfei and party from Chendu Military Region J of PeopleÆs Liberation Army of PeopleÆs Republic of China at Dagon Yeiktha of the Ministry of Defence at 5 pm today. Also present together with the Secretary-3 Lt-Gen Win Myint were Chief of Staff (Navy) Commodore, Chief of Staff (Air), Vice Adjutant-General, Chairman of Defence Services Volleyball Committee, Commandant of Defence Services Self Defence and Sports Institute and officials.
The guests were accompanied by Counsellor of Chinese Embassy Mr Tang Ying and
Military Attache Senior Col Ma Shoudong.

(5) Industry-2 Minister inspects factories
YANGON, 3 Nov - Minister for Industry-2 Maj-Gen Saw Lwin visited the No 1 Farm Machinery Plant at Sinde, Padaungownship, on 28 October.
At the briefing hall of the factory, the minister met with personnel of the factory, urging them to strive for boosting production and promoting welfare services.
Accompanied by officials, the minister inspected manufacturing of harvesters and winnowers, devising of new machines and production of power tillers at assembling section factories of the plant.
At the factories training school at Sinde, the minister and party inspected the different divisions of the school, hostels and the mess.
On 30 October, the minister and party met with personnel of a farm machinery factory in Minhla, Magway Division. He spoke of the need to strive to improve the quality of the products and to meet the production targets.
During inspection of the power-tiller assembling workshop, smelting workshop and tractor testing grounds, he looked into the requirements of the respective divisions.
The minister and party inspected assembly of cars, compression section and
machinery production workshop, stressing the need to strive for boosting
production.

(6) Minister inspects railroads
YANGON, 3 Nov - Minister for Rail Transportation U Pan Aung looked into the requirements in building the railroad sections from Kyeni Railway Station to Chauk Township on 1 November.
Accompanied by officials, the minister observed the progress in building of the railroads of Kyauk-padaung-Zeebyugon and other sections.
The next day, the minister and party inspected the Magway-Taungdwingyi Pyay
Railroad. They also inspected the current under the Yin Creek Bridge, bank
erosion of the creek and the situation of bridges along Magway-Taungdwingyi-Pyay
Rail-road.

(7) Minister of Commerce of ROK arrives
YANGON, 3 Nov - At the invitation of the Ministry of Commerce, a delegation led by Minister of Commerce Mr Han Duck-Soo of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commerce, the Republic of Korea, arrived here by air this evening.
The delegation was welcomed at Yangon International Airport by Minister for
Commerce Brig-Gen Pyi Sone, Deputy Minister, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea
Mr Chung Jung-Gum, Director-General of Directorate of Trade, Director- General
of Border Trade Department and officials.

(8) Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation meets industrialists in Hinthada, Myaungmya
YANGON, 3 Nov - Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Maj-Gen Nyunt Tin and departmental officials yesterday inspected Panhlaing sluice gate in Nyaungdon Township in Ayeyawady Division.
The minister and party inspected the site for industrial zone in Hinthada.
The minister met industrialists in Hinthada industrial zone. Chairman of Hinthada District Peace and Development Council reported on work of the zone.
Director-General of Agricultural Mechanization Department U Win-Maw reported on production of farm machinery.
Chairman of Industrial Zone and industrialists reported on raw materials and requirements for production of quality products.
The minister took part in the discussions and fulfilled the requirements.
The minister inspected firewood substitute briquette production, farm machinery and industrial items produced in Hinthada Industrial Zone.
The minister and party discussed boosting of paddy production and fully cultivation acreage with farmers at Kyaungkwin agriculture education farm in Hinthada.
The minister inspected harvesting of model farm. He also met farmers in Kwingyi Village and discussed paddy cultivation, cultivation of cold season crops and use of fertilizer.
The minister inspected solar-powered dryer for paddy.
The minister inspected jute mill in Myaungmya. He met industrialists of
Myaungmya Industrial Zone and discussed production of machines on
manageable-scale.

YANGON, 3 Nov - Minister for Health Maj-Gen Ket Sein met with Chairman of the Board of Sutech Engineering Co Ltd of Thailand Dr Terapol Pruksathorn at his office this afternoon.
Also present at the call together with the minister were Deputy Minister for
Health and officials.

(10) MIC Secretary meets Sutech Chairman
YANGON, 3 Nov - Minister at the State Peace and Development Council
ChairmanÆs Office Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission Brig-Gen Maung
Maung met with Chairman of the Board of Sutech Engineering Co Ltd of Thailand Dr
Terapol Pruksathorn at the Commission Office this morning. Also present at the
call together with the minister were officials of the Directorate of Investment
and Companies Administration.

(11) 60 members resign from Launglon Township NLD
YANGON, 3 Nov - Sixty members resigned from the National League for Democracy of Launglon Township, Taninthayi Division.
Sixty members of Launglon Township NLD, Taninthayi Division, of their own
volition, resigned by sending letters of resignation to Launglon Township
Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission and the party concerned on 29
August 1999 as they no longer wished to participate in party politics of NLD.

(12) Seven members resign from Taungdwingyi Township NLD
YANGON, 3 Nov - Seven members resigned from the National League for Democracy of Taungdwingyi Township, Magway Division.
Seven members of Taungdwingyi Township NLD, Magway Division, of their own
volition, resigned by sending letters of resignation to Taungdwingyi
Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission and the party
concerned on 26 May 1999 as they no longer wished to participate in party
politics of NLD.
