(1)    Veterinary surgeons urged to discharge national duties in livestock breeding sector for   successful implementation of economic objectives of the State

YANGON, 23 Oct - The first ceremony of Myanmar Veterinary Medicine Council to present registration certificates of veterinary surgeon was held in conjunction with a ceremony to form Myanmar Livestock Breeding Federation and hold the annual meeting of Silver Jubilee of Myanmar Veterinary Surgeons Association in Diamond Jubilee Hall on Pyay Road this afternoon, addressed by Secretary-l of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt.

Afterwards, Secretary-l Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt, Secretary-3 and party viewed showrooms and left Diamond Jubilee Hall.

(2)    Secretary-2 attends opening ceremony of International IT Exhibition '99

YANGON, 23 Oct - The opening ceremony of Intentional IT Exhibition '99 sponsored by Myanmar Computer Scientist Association and Myanmar Computer Industry Association was held in front of the Tatmadaw Convention Centre on U Wisara Road this morning, attended by Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo.

Secretary-2 Lt-Gen Tin Oo and party inspected the exhibition.

The exhibition continues up to 26 October from 9 am to 5 pm daily.

(3)    Tatmadaw families, well-wishers donate provisions to Five Nikaya Pitakat Thonbon   Sarthintaik in Dagon Myothit (South)

YANGON, 23 Oct - Fami1ies of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air and well-wishers donated provisions to Five Nikaya Pitakat Thonbon Sarthintaik in Dagon Myothit (South) Township this morning.

Present on the occasion were Padana Nayaka of the Sarthintaik Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Myingyan Sayadaw and members of the Sangha, Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Chief of Bureau of Special Operations Chief of Staff (Army) Lt-Gen Tin Oo, and officials.

The Secretary-2 and party offered provisions to the Myingyan Sayadaw and members of the Sangha.

Later, Myingyan Sayadawgyi delivered a sermon, followed by sharing of merits.

(4)    Secretary-2 visits Market Festival

YANGON, 23 Oct - Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo together with officials visited the 6th Market Festival sponsored by Social Welfare Department and Myanmar Hwaphu International Ltd at Youth Training School (Kyaikwaing) in Mayangon Township this noon.

Then, Secretary-2 Lt-Gen Tin Oo viewed the entertainment programmes presented by boys and girls of Kyimyindine School for the Blind and posed for photo together with them.

(5)    Ministry of Health concludes four-monthly coord meeting

YANGON, 23 Oct - Ministry of Health held its second four-monthly coordination meeting for the final day at the meeting hall of Medical Research Department on Ziwaka Road this morning.

Present on the occasion were Minister for Health Maj-Gen Ket Sein, directors-general of departments, rectors, officials, medical superintendents and guests.

The heads of State and Division Health Departments reported on tasks being carried out, treatment and requirements. The minister and officials attended to their requirements.

The meeting ended with concluding remarks by the Minister.

(6)    Asia Wealth Bank opens branch in Lashio

YANGON, 23 Oct - Asia Wealth Bank Ltd opened a branch in Lashio, Shan State (North), yesterday afternoon.

Commander Maj-Gen Thiha Thura Tin Aung Myint Oo, Minister U Khin Maung Thein, Chairman and Vice-Chairman formally opened the branch.

Then, the guests toured the branch.

A ceremony to mark  the opening of Lashio branch of AWB was held in the town hall, Lashio.

In his address, the commander said in striving for all-round development of the State, the Government is  giving encouragement and assistance to the private sector, and private banks are also making progress.

Minister U Khin Maung Thein also said that AsiaWealth Bank has opened 32 branches in the country, and it is  providing financial services with modern banking systems, and the branch in Lashio will provideeffective financial services for agricultural, industrial and trade sectors in the region.

Vice-Chairman of AWB U Aik Tun spoke words of thanks.

There is over K  80 billion deposited  at Asia  Wealth Bank by  the people, and the bank is providing services with over tow  thousand employees.

(8)    32 members resign from Minhla Township NLD

YANGON, 23 Oct - Thirty-two members resigned from National League for Democracy of Minhla Township, ago Division. Thirty-two members of Minhla Township NLD, Bago Division, of their own volition, resigned by sending letters of resignation to Minhla Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission and the party concerned n 21 September 1999 as they no longer wished to participate in party politics of NLD.
