YANGON, 10 Oct - The world community strongly condemned the terrorist acts perpetrated against the Myanmar Embassy
in Bangkok on 1 and 2 October 1999. The following are official statements of the Lao People s Democratic Republic and the
Russian Federation:

The Statement issued by Laos on 2 October 1999.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People s Democratic Republic has been following with great concern about the
seizure of the Embassy of the Union of Myanmar to the -Kingdom of Thailand by the armed terrorist group who have held the
Embassy s staff and a number of foreigners as hostages since October 1st, 1999.

This grave and terrorist act is a flagrant violation and against inalienable right of the Embassy and its staff recognized by the
Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (1961), and other international laws. Furthermore this illegal action is also a serious
violation of the sovereignty and tramples the reputation and prestige of the country and people of the Union of Myanmar.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR strongly condemns this terrorist action and call on this terrorist group to
immediately stop their violence, release all hostage and withdraw from the Embassy of the Union of Myanmar, thus to ensure
the normal situation.

The Statement issued by Russia on 5 October 1999.

On the 1st of October 1999 a group of terrorists seized the premises of the Embassy of Myanmar in the capital of Thailand
with the staff-members and visitors present at the time. Fortunately due to actions by the Thai authorities the incident ended
peacefully and caused no casualties. It testifies to the fact that no state of the world is immune against acts of terrorism. Russia
resolutely denounces all manifestations of terrorism and comes out for unification of the efforts of the world community at
