(1) Senior General Than Shwe met entrepreneurs of Monywa Industrial Zone in Monywa
YANGON, 20 Sept - Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council
Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Than Shwe met
entrepreneurs of Monywa Industrial Zone in Monywa, Sagaing Division, yesterday
morning. He also inspected the products of the zone. In giving guidance, Senior
General Than Shwe said they came there to met the entrepreneurs of the zone and
to inspect their industries. The Senior General gave guidance on conducting
basic level courses, selling of steel raw materials and extending cooperation
with committees at different levels. Senior General Than Shwe and party later
inspected the product of the zone and cordially met with industrialists .They
then inspected development of Monywa
Township, beautifying of the environs,
crop cultivation and progress of the regions adjoining Monywa.

(2) Sangyoung Township BEHS No 4 gets multimedia teaching centre
YANGON, 20 Sept - Basic Education High School No.4 of Sangyoung Township
opened multimedia teaching centre this morning, attended by Chairman of
Myanmar Education Committee Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development
Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt. The Secretary-1 unveiled the signboard of the
centre.Accompanied by officials, the Secretary-1 inspected computerized media
section, study room, demonstrative media section, educational broadcasting
centre, art room, painting room and vocational education room of the centre.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary-1 gave a speech.

(3) Well-wisher family donates K 5-million new school building
YANGON, 20 Sept - The new school building ,of theNo 15 Basic Education Primary School in Mingaladon Township donated by hand over to the Ministry of Education this afternoon. The handing over ceremony of the school took place at the school and Chairman of Myanmar Education Committee Secretary-l of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt delivered an address. Next, Secretary -1 Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt delivered an address. He gave a speech. On behalf of the residents in the area Secretary-l Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt thanked the well-wishers in view of the fact that their contributions would enable the school childrens in the area to pursue their studies peacefully and conveniently. The Secretary-1 and party then inspected the new school building.

(4) Secretary-1 inspects progress of Mingaladon Garden City Project
YANGON, 20 Sept - Secretary-l of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt, accompanied by officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office, arrived at the site of Mingaladon Garden City Project in Mingaladon Township, Yangon Division, at 1.30 pm today. The Secretary-1 gave necessary instructions. Then, the Secretary-l inspected progress in construction of Aung Mingala Maha Ordination Hall in Mingaladon Garden City Project. Later, the Secretary-l inspected modern houses and greening works of Mingaladon Garden City Project and left there in the afternoon.

(5) Minister meets delegates to Myanmar Tourism Fair
YANGON, 20 Sept - The final meeting between the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and entrepreneurs who will attend the Second Myanmar Tourism Fair, which will be held in Bangkok, Thailand on 27 and 28 September under the sponsorship of the ministry, was held this morning at Kandawgyi Palace Hotel. Present on the occasion were Minister for Hotels and Tourism Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, and officials of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and Myanmar entrepreneurs of the hotel and tourism sector. Speaking on the occasion, the minister made a speech. The minister looked into the requirements presented by the entrepreneurs.

(6) 65th Asean Federation of Accountants (AFA) Council Meeting begins
YANGON, 20 Sept - The 65th Asean Federationof Accountants (AFA) Council Meeting began at the Traders Hotel here this afternoon.Auditor-General and Chairman of Myanmar Accountancy Council Brig-Gen Tin Aye delivered an address. He made a speech. Also present on the occasion were delegates of the Council members of Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand of the ASEAN nations and observers of Myanmar Accountancy Council. The meeting continues tomorrow. Brig-Gen Tin Aye hosted dinner in honour of the delegates to the meeting at Traders Hotel.

(7) Inter Country Training on Mortality Statistics opens
YANGON, 20 Sept - A ceremony to open Inter-Country Training on Mortality Statistics co-sponsored by Ministry of Health and WHO was held at the Hotel Equatorial this morning, with an opening address by Minister for Health Maj-Gen Ket Sein. Minister for Health Maj-Gen Ket Sein delivered an opening address. He made a speech. The opening ceremony then came to a close.

(8) Asia Wealth Bank Ltd opens Dawei branch
YANGON, 20 Sept - A ceremony to open Dawei branch of Asia Wealth Bank Ltd was held at the venue at No 107 on southern street of the market in Khonwindat Ward, Dawei, yesterday. Present on the occasion were member of the State Peace and Development Council Chairman of the Taninthayi Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Coastal Region Command Maj-Gen Thura Thiha Thura Sit Maung, Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Brig-Gen Maung Maung Thein departmental officials. First, Commander Maj-Gen Thura Thiha Thura Sit Maung, opened the bank branch.

(9) Minister meets delegation of ASEAN Federation of Accountants
YANGON, 20 Sept - Minister at the State Peace and Development Council Chairman's Office Brig-Gen Abel met a delegation led by Mr Antonio P Acyatan of ASEAN Federation of Accountants who called at his office this morning. They discussed opportunities for investment in Myanmar and economic cooperation between Myanmar and ASEAN member nations. Also present at the call were officials of the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Development.

(10) 11 members resign from Sittway Township NLD
YANGON, 20 Sept-Eleven members resigned from the National League for
Democracy of Sittway Township, Rakhine State. Eleven members of Sittway
Township NLD, Rakhine State, of their own volition, resigned by sending letters
of resignation to Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission and
the party concerned on 6 August 1999 as they no longer wished to participate in
party politics of NLD.
