(1) Senior General Than Shwe attends Annual General Meeting of USDA
YANGON, 15 Sept-The Annual General Meeting for 1999 of the Union Solidarity and Development Association was held in the Union Hall of the USDA Executive Management Training School of the Central Public Relations Unit in Hmawby this morning.
Patron of USDA Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Than Shwe delivered a speech. The meeting was attended by members of the panel of patrons of USDA Vice-Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in Chief (Army) General Maung Aye, Secretary-l of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt, and members of the State Peace and Civil Service Selection and Training Board, members of the panel of patrons of USDA, CEC members of USDA, deputy ministers, senior military officers of the Ministry of Defence, members of National Convention Convening Commission, Myanmar ambassadors, the directors-general and the managing directors, the rector of Central Institute of Civil Service, members of the USDA Annual General Meeting Organizing Sub-committees, officials of social and economic and USDA delegates from States and Divisions, nationals of Wa region who are attending the basic computer course and guests.

(2) Patron of USDA Senior General Than Shwe hosts dinner in honour of USDA delegates
YANGON, 15 Sept- Patron of Union Solidarity and Development Association Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Than Shwe hosted dinner in honour of delegates of State, Division, District and Township USD. As who attended the Annual General Meeting 1999 of USDA, at Zeyathiri Beik-man on Konmyinttha this evening.
The Senior General arrived there at 6.30 pm and cordially
met delegates of State, Division, District and Township USDAs,
outstanding students from states and divisions who
passed 1999 matriculation examination, outstanding Red Cross and
Auxiliary Fire Brigade members, outstanding trainees of
Basic Aviation Course for New Generations and Basic and
Advanced Marine Courses for New Generations, winners of Extempore Talks in
commemoration of Armed Forces Day and artistes who took part
in the Thaya-sopyay-nga-doh-myay TV feature.

YANGON, 16 Sept- On the occasion of the
Independence Day of the Papua New Guinea, which falls on 16
September 1999, Senior General Than Shwe, Chairman of the
State Peace and Development Council of the Union
of Myanmar, has sent a message of
felicitations to His Excellency Sir Silas Atopare,
Governor-General of Papua New Guinea.

(5) Coord meeting held on management of movable and unmovable property related to drug cases
YANGON, 14 Sept-A coordination meeting on management of vehicles, motorcycles, jewellery, cash and buildings which are movable and unmovable property related to the narcotic drug cases was held at the meeting hall of Myanmar Police Force of the Ministry of Home Affairs this morning.
At the meeting, Secretary of Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control Director-General of MPF Police Maj-Gen Soe Win and deputy commander of State and Division Myanmar Police Force, staff officers, supervisors and leaders of special anti drug squads discussed arrangement to be made for management sector in accord with 1993 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
Over K 181.68 million worth of movable
and unmovable property were confiscated from 1993 to August 1999.

(6) Korean, Myanmar industrialists meet
YANGON, 15 Sept-A Korean industrialists delegation of Korea Federation of Machinery Industry Cooperatives and Myanma industrial entrepreneurs held a meeting at the Sedona Hotel on Kaba Aye Pagoda Road this morning.
Present on the occasion were Ambassador of ROK Mr Chung Jung Gum and Attach (Commercial) Mr Ahn Han-bum of the Korean Embassy, 50 delegates of Myanmar companies and l4 Korean companies.
They discussed mutual economic cooperation.

(7) Training of Service Providers for VAW concludes
YANGON, 15 Sept- The concluding .ceremony of Training of Service Providers for VAW sponsored by Working Group for Prevention of Violence Against Women and Rehabilitation of Myanmar National Working Committee for Women's Affairs was held at Aung San Hall of Social Welfare Department on Kaba Aye Pagoda Road this evening.
Present on the occasion were Vice-Chairperson of Myanmar
National Working Committee for Women's Affairs Professor
Daw May May Yi, Secretary Director-General of Social
Welfare Department U Sit Myaing, member Dr Daw Khin Win
Shwe, Head of Yang on Division Working
Group for
Prevention of Violence Against Women and Rehabilitation Daw Marlar
Tint and committee members, advisors, group leaders,
course instructors and trainees.
First, member of Myanmar National Working Committee for Women's Affairs and Head of Working Group for Prevention of Violence Against Women and Rehabilitation Dr Daw Khin Win Shwe made a speech on the occasion.
Dr Daw Khin Wm Shwe presented certificates to the
trainees. On behalf of the trainees, a trainee spoke
words of thanks.

(8) Minister for Foreign Affairs sends felicitations to Mexico
YANGON, 16 Sept-U Win Aung, Minister for
Foreign Affairs of the Union of Myanmar, has sent a message of
felicitations to Her Excellency Mrs Rosario Green Macias, Minister
of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States, on the occasion of
the Anniversary of the Independence Day of the United
Mexican States which falls on 16 September 1999.

(9) 50 members resign from Pantanaw Township NLD
YANGON, 15 Sept-Fifty members of Pantanaw Township NLD, Ayeyawady Division, of their own volition, resigned by sending letters of resignation to Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission and the party concerned as they no longer wished to participate in party politics of NLD.
On 12 July 1999, on behalf of resigned NLD members, NLD member Daw Khin Sein handed over resignations to Chairman of Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Sub-commission U Than Sein.
