(1)    Secretary-1 inspects construction,works  of Botahtaung No 2 Container Yard, Yangon International Airport

 YANGON, 11 Sept - Secretary-l  of the State Peace  and  Development  Council  Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt this  morning inspected construction site of Botahtaung  No 2 Container  Yard and works being  carried out  for  the  development  of  Yangon International  Airport. Secretary-l  Lt-Gen  Khin Nyunt,  accompanied  by officials  of the State Peace and  Development Council  Office, arrived  at  the  construction  site of  Botahtaung  No 2 Container  Yard of Myanma  Port  Authority  of  Ministry  of  Transport on Strand Road at 9.30 am today.  Then,  Secretary-l  Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt gave  instructions  to  officials.  Then,  Secretary-l Lt-Gen  Khin  Nyunt inspected heavy machinery,  construction of  the  container yard  and  container materials  warehouse. Secretary-l  Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt  attended  to  their needs.  Then, Secretary-1  Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt and party inspected.  works for  the  progress  of the  airport  and  the  arrival  lounge for  international  flights at the airport  and  left  there.

(2)     Defence  Services  (Army,  Navy and Air) families well-wishers donate provisions to  Sarthintaiks

 YANGON, 11 Sept - A ceremony to donate provisions  to  Naynattha  Sarthintaik,  Mahamyinephone  Phayakyaung, Aungmingalarthakedi Sarthintaik,  Shinokktamathara  Sarthintaik  and Masoyein  Sarthintaik  in Sangyoung  Township,  Yangon West  District, by families of Defence  Services (Army,  Navy  and  Air)  and  well-wishers  was  held  at  Naynattha  Sarthintaik, this morning, attended by  Secretary-2  of the State  Peace and  Development  Council  Chief of Bureau  of  Special  Operations  Chief of Staff  (Army)  Lt-Gen Tin Oo.  Presiding  Sayadaw Bhaddanta Janaka of Naynattha Sarthintaik  invested  the  congregation  with Five  Precepts.  Secretary-2  Lt-Gen  Tin Oo,  the  commander  and  ministers  presented offertories  to  Sayadaws.  Secretary-2  Lt-Gen  Tin Oo and  party  presented  offertories to Sayadaws, members of the Sangha of  the Sarthintaiks and Senior Nuns.  Cash amounting  to  K 336,000 for Soonpadaythapin of  six  Sarthintaiks  was presented,  followed by sharing  of  merits.

(3)    Workshop  on Total  Quality  Management  in  Health Care opened

 YANGON,  11  Sept -  Workshop  on  Total  Quality  Management  in Health Care jointly  sponsored  by  the Ministry of Health and Bumrungrad Hospital in  Thailand  opened at Traders  Hotel on Sule Pagoda  Road this  morning,  with an address by  Minister  for Health  Maj-Gen  Ket Sein.  Minister  Maj-Gen  Ket Sein gave a speech.  Officials of  Bumrungrad  Hospital in Thailand  also  reported on  participation in  health  care services.  The  workshop continues till 13 September.

(4)    Minister  inspects multi-purpose  diesel engine plant in Indagaw

 YANGON, 11 Sept - Minister for Industry-2 Maj-Gen  Saw Lwin and  Deputy  Ministers  U Thein  Tun and  Brig-Gen  Aung  Thein Lin  yesterday  arrived  at  multi-purpose  diesel engine  production plant in  Indagaw,  Bago  Division.  The minister and party  inspected land  preparation for  construction  of  Radiator  Plant,  Hyote  Metal  Plant  Disc Wheel  Plant.  The minister gave  instructions  on power  supply,  construction of the building in time and  others.

(5)    Cultivation  works,  hydel water  pumping project inspected in Pwintbyu, Pakokku

 YANGON,  11 Sept -  Chairman  of Magway  Division  Peace and  Development  Council  Col  Thein  Zaw,  accompanied by officials, inspected completion of  3,320  acres  of  monsoon  paddy  cultivation  at  Kanthagyi Village-tract in Pwintbyu Township on 7  September.  The chairman and  pt supervised  maintenance work of Letme Lake in Salin Township,  greening  works of Tantkyi Hill and  conservation  of natural forests in Pakokku Township.  Afterwards,  Col Thein Zaw inspected  hydel water  pumping  project in  Kokkohla.

(6)    Staff of Auditor-General's Office donate 'soon'  to State Pariyatti Sasana Tekkatho (Yangon)

 YANGON, 11 Sept - Staff of the  Auditor-General's  Office  donated  'soon' to  Sayadaws  and student  monks of State Pariyatti Sasana Tekkatho (Yangon)  at Mogok  Soonsarhsaung  on Kaba  Aye  Hill  this  morning.  Rector Sayadaw Agga  Maha Pandita  Bhaddanta  Panditabhiyamsa  administered the Five  Precepts.  Then, Auditor-General Brig-Gen Tin Aye  presented K 90,000 for 'soon' for a day .o U Sann  Lwin.  Later,  the  Rector  Sayadaw  delivered  a  sermon,  followed by sharing of merits.

(7)     Commander inspects cultivation works in  Amarapura

 YANGON, 11 Sept - Chairman of  Mandalay  Division  Peace  and  Development Council Commander  of  Central Command Maj-Gen Ye Myint,  accompanied by  departmental  officials,  inspected  preparations  for EM Bokashi fertilizer in Daungyway Village in  Amarapura Township  yesterday.  The commander and  party  also  inspected weeding  work,  applying  fertilizer  and  spraying  EM  liquid  at U  Sein  Kyaw's  farm.  Then, the  commander  attended  to  their needs.

(8)     Ancient jewellery and artistic   exhibition exhibition continues

 YANGON, 11 Sept - Ancient  jewellery and artistic  antiques  exhibition organized  by  Archaeology  Department  continued  for the  fifth  day at the  multi-purpose hall of the National Museum on Pyay  Road today. At the exhibition, artistic  antiques, handicrafts and royal equipment used in  Bronze Age and Pyu, Bagan,  Innwa,  Konbaung  and  Yadanabon  Eras  were  displayed.  The rare  coin  marked  Yadanabon  Peacock  valued at K S used in  King Mindon's reign in 1852 was also shown at the  exhibition.  A total of 2,132 persons  members of  the Sangha,  service  personnel  of  departments,  teachers  and  students of Basic  Education  High  School  No  4  and  BEMS  No  4  of Kyimyindine  Township,  BEHS No 2 and BEMS No1 of  Thingangyun  Township and people  including  tourists  visited  the  exhibition  today.

(9)    32 members resign from Shwedaung Township NLD

 YANGON,  11 Sept -  Thirty-two  members  resigned  from National  League for  Democracy of Shwedaung  Township, Bago  Division.  Thirty-two  members of  Shwedaung  Township NLD, Bago  Division, of their  own  volition,  resigned  by  sending  letters of  resignation  to  Shwedaung  Township Multiparty  Democracy General Election Sub-Commission and the  party  concerned  on 2 September  1999 as they no  longer wished to participate in party politics of  NLD.
