(2) Billboard put up to hail USDA Annual General Meeting
YANGON, 2 Sept-A ceremony to put up the billboard hailing 6F Annual General Meeting of Union Solidarity and Development Association 1999 was held at the corner of Waizayanta Road and Thingangyun Road in Thingangyun Township at 7 am today.
Present on the occasion were secretaries, executives and members of Yangon Division, District and Township USDAs, chairman and members of Thingangyun Township Peace and Development Council, members of Township Maternal and Child Welfare Association, Women' s Affairs Committee, Township Writers and Journalists Association, Red Cross and Fire Brigade, teachers, students, members of Ward Peace and Development Councils and people totalling over 3,000.
Afterwards, Chairman of Thingangyun Township Peace and
Development Council U Khin Maung Htay, Chairman of South Okkalapa
Township Peace and Development Council U Mya Aung and Secretary of
Thingangyun Township USDA U Khin Wai unveiled the billboard.

(3) 6,469 persons visit
Myanmar Scenery Photo Exhbn
YANGON, 2 Sept-Monsoon Photographic Competition and Myanmar Scenery (1999) Photo Exhibition continued for the ninth day at the Tatmadaw Hall on U Wisara Road today.
Altogether 6,469 persons including monks, teachers, students and people of Tamway, South Okkalapa, Bahan, Hline and members of Yakin, Latha and Lanmadaw Township Union Solidarity and Development Associations visited the exhibition today.
Colour photos of photographers are being displayed at the exhibition.
IPRD, News and Periodicals Enterprise, Myawady Literature House, Sarpay Beikman and Zaw Literature House sold various kinds of books . Forever Group Computer Centre and News and Periodicals Enterprise accepted trainees at 10 per-cent discount. Visitors had photos taken with artistes.
Sales of photos and books for today amounted to K 402,060.
The exhibition will be daily open from 9 am to 5 pm till 5
September.

(4) Yangon Division (Basic Education level) 7th Myanmar Traditional Performing Arts Competition opened
YANGON, 2 Sept-The opening ceremony of Yangon Division (Basic Education level) Seventh Myanmar Traditional Performing Arts Competition was held at Botahtaung College this morning.
Present on the occasion were Vice Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Deputy Commander Brig-Gen Hsan Hsint members of Organizing Committee for the Competition, judges, faculty members of universities and colleges in Yangon Division, personnel, students and guests.
U Khin Maung Latt, principal of Botahtaung College, formally opened it.
The guests were entertained to dances of artistes of the college.
The deputy commander presented gifts to the artistes.

(5) Eighth Tatmadaw (Army,
Navy, Air) Karatedo Competition opened
YANGON, 2 Sept -The opening ceremony of the eighth Tatmadaw (Army, Navy, Air) Karatedo Competition for Defence Services Commander-in-Chief's Championship Shield 1999 was held at the Stadium in Toungoo yesterday morning.
Present on the occasion were Commander of Southern Command Maj-Gen Tin Aye and wife Daw Kyi Kyi Ohn, Commander of Toungoo Station Brig-Gen Thura Myint Thein and senior Tatmadaw officers, guests, managers, members of Myanmar Karatedo selection team.
On behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Commander Maj-Gen Tin Aye delivered an opening address.
Then, karatekas of Myanma Karatedo Federation demonstrated basic and competitive techniques of Karatedo.
Then, Commander Maj-Gen Tin Aye and party went to the construction site of four-lane Khabaung Bridge which will link Toungoo and Ottwin Townships, constructed by Bridge Construction Special Group No 1 of Public Works.
Senior Engineer U Han Soe reported to the Commander on the construction project.
The commander gave instructions to officials and inspected the
construction site.

(6) 928 members resign from
Ottwin Township NLD
YANGON, 2 Sept-A ceremony to present letters of resignation of 928 members of Ottwin Township National League for Democracy, Bago Division, was held at the office of Ottwin Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Sub-Commission at 10 am on 29 August 1999.
Nine hundred and twenty-eight members of Ottwin Township NLD, Bago Division, of their own volition, resigned by sending letters of resignation to the part concerned on 29 August 1999 as they no longer wished to participate in party politics of NLD.
Member of Kathittan Ward NLD of Ottwin Township U Aung Than, on behalf
of the party members, explained matters related to the resignation from the
party and handed over the letters of resignation to Chairman of Township
Multiparty Democracy General Election Sub-Commission U Shan Lwe.
