(1)  USDA Executives' Management Course No 19 concluded

YANGON, 18 Aug - Union Solidarity and Development Association Executives' Management Course No 19 concluded at Pyidaungsu Hall of the Central Public Relations Unit in Hmawby Township, Yangon Division, at 9 am today. Patron of Union Solidarity and Development Association Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Than Shwe gave guidance.  Excerpts from Senior General Than Shwe's address.

All the three spheres-political, economic and social sectors are included in nation-building endeavours.  Construction projects can be implemented only if there is stability of the State, community peace and tranquillity and prevalence of law and order.  Observance of discipline, firm adherence to the code of conduct and observance of the law are the basic rules of conduct in practising discipline-flourishing democracy.  The political sector will gradually develop if the nation is totally free from destructive perpetrations from inside and outside the nation.  Economic progress and political development are inter-dependent.  Exerting earnest efforts with high momentum for development of the political, economic and social sectors is for emergence of a peaceful, stable, modern and developed nation.  Trainees urged to make firm determination to participate without fail in shaping the nation's future.  Being a constructive nation-building force USDA is gradually expanding and getting consolidated.  The destructive group with negative views will be punished by the people and will naturally dwindle to nothing.

In conclusion, the Senior General gave guidance on the USDA Annual General Meeting.  He said the AGM will be held in the coming September; preparatory works for the AGM are being carried out by USDAs at different levels in the entire nation; implementation of the one-year future task laid down at the meeting should be assessed; convictions on building and safeguarding the nation and resolutions on national development and objectives on upgrading the qualification of the association were included in the future tasks.  The USDA as a national force was able to accomplished its task effectively in all towns and villages and in all hill regions and border areas. USDA members should not be complacent with their accomplishments; they should implement their tasks with greater momentum; they should value the time and strenuously work for the rapid progress of the nation; delegates to the AGM from the respective regions should strive to lay down the future tasks necessary for their regions.  In commemoration of the anniversary, the USDA members should cooperatively strive for the well-being of the nation and the people while safeguarding the people's interests and national stability with awareness.

After the ceremony, the Senior General cordially met the trainees.

He had morning meal together with the trainees in the Bayintnaung Hall.
