The main requirement of the nation is to boost production and promote import substitute enterprises, and the State is handing factories, which cannot operate well due to certain constraints, over to national entrepreneurs, who can actually run them with economic outlook, through the commission, considering that it will further contribute toward economic development of the nation by doing so.

Only when there is growth in domestic production, will the target of producing import substitutes be met, he said and spoke of the need to transfer the existing medium and small factories to national entrepreneurs to operate them in full capacity before building new ones.

Departments concerned need to make arrangements for ensuring speedy transfer of factories to the private sector in the interest of the State, he added.
