(1) Education promotion programme given exemplary cooperation by national entrepreneurs Yuzana Scholarship Awards, educational excellence awards presented
YANGON, 13 Feb - A ceremony to present Yuzana Scholarship Awards, educational excellence awards and research and library funds organized by the Yuzana Education and Research Development Trusteeship of the Ministry of Education was held in Yuzana Hall of Yuzana Plaza on Banyadalla Road in Mingala Taungnyunt Township this afternoon, attended by Chairman of Myanmar Education Committee Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt.
Also present at the ceremony were ministers, the chairman of Civil Service Selection and Training Board, deputy ministers, officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office, departmental heads, directors-general, deputy directors-general, rectors, pro-rectors, principals pals, professors and directors of the departments under the Ministry of Education, members of the Yuzana Education and Research Development Trusteeship, Chairman of Yuzana Co Ltd U Htay Myint and officials, winners of Yuzana Scholarship Awards and educational excellence awards and special guests.
Lecturer Daw Yin Shwe of Dagon University Industrial Chemistry Department and Tutor Daw Htay Htay Saw Lwin of Yangon University History Department acted as masters of ceremonies.
In his address, Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt said that while the government is striving and paying special attention to uplift national education standard, presenting of Yuzana Scholarship Awards, and educational excellence awards is a noble contribution in harmony with the present situation, and it stands as exemplary contribution of national entrepreneurs in the government's educational promotion programmes.
As is known to all, the State Peace and Development Council is striving with significant momentum after laying down effective plans in all sectors for emergence of a peaceful, modern and developed nation, he said.

(2) Secretary-2 inspects agricultural machinery plants
YANGON, 13 Feb - Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo inspected farm machinery plants under the Agricultural Mechanization Department this morning.
Accompanied by Minister for Progress of Border Areas and National Races and Development Affairs Col Thein Nyunt, Minister for Social Welfare Relief and Resettlement Brig-Gen Pyi Sone, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office Brig-Gen Lun Maung, Chief of Staff (Navy) Captain Kyi Min, Chief of Staff (Air) Col Myint Swe, Vice-Chairman of Yangon C City Development Committee Vice-Mayor Col Maung Pa, Officer on Special Duty at the State Peace and Development Council Office Lt-Col Than Tint and officials, the Secretary-2 inspected No 1 farm machinery plant at the 9th mile.
The Secretary-2 was welcomed by Deputy Director General of AMD U Ohn Sein, the directors and factory manager U Soe Hlaing.
Officials reported on imported transplanters and harvesters, innovated sprayers and other machinery.
The Secretary-2 inspected successful production of gearbox of power tillers, molding of the gear-box and production of power tiller spare parts. The gearboxes which had to be imported before can be produced now at No 1 farm machinery plant.
The Secretary-2 and party inspected assembling of power tillers (Myanmar Kywe tractor).
The Secretary-2 and party proceeded to No 1 farm machinery plant in Kyaikkalo in Mingaladon Township where officials reported on specimen of spare parts of power tillers.
Out of 100 parts of the power tillers, most of them can be produced at factories and workshops under AMD.
The Secretary-2 inspected 12 HP engine and production process of the power tillers.

(3) Secretary-1 accepts gold and jewellery donations for Shwedagon Pagoda
YANGON, 13 Feb - A ceremony to present donations of gold and jewellery for the Shwedagon Pagoda was held at Old Museum Tazaung on the platform of the pagoda at 7 am today, attended by Patron of All-round Renovation of the Shwedagon Pagoda Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt.
Also present on the occasion were Minister for Religious Affairs Maj-Gen Sein Htwa, Chairman of Leading Committee for All-round Renovation of the Shwedagon Pagoda Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Brig-Gen Thura Myint Maung and committee members, members of Board of Trustees and well-wishers.
Well-wishers presented donations of gold and jewellery to Secretary-1 Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt who presented certificates of honour to them.
Today's donations included 5 viss of gold donated by U Aung Ko Win-Daw Nan Than Htwe, 37 carat of a diamond inlaid comb and a diamond brooch by Daw Myint Myint and family of Mandalay with the patronage of U Tha Htay-Daw Than and a ruby ring by Dr Zaw Win-Dr Tin Tin Lin.

(6) K 1m donated for social welfare
YANGON, 13 Feb - A ceremony to donate K 1 million realized from Mya Yeik Nyo social fun fair of the Office of the Strategic Studies of the Ministry of Defence to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement was held at the Ministry of SWRR today, attended by Minister Brig-Gen Pyi Sone.

(7) Minister inspects Mandalay International Airport Project
YANGON, 13 Feb - Minister for Transport Maj-Gen Hla Myint Swe inspected Mandalay International Airport Project today.
Accompanied by Managing Director of Inland Water Transport U Tun Aung Myint, Deputy Director-General of Transport Department Col Nyan Tun Aung and officials, arrived at Chanmyathazi Air port by Myanma Airways flight this morning.
En route to Mandalay international Airport Project from the airport, he inspected construction of six-lane road between Chanthagon and Sagaing and Panlaung Bridge and Z-craft being used in the bridge project.
In the hall of the project, Project Superintending Engineer U Bon Kyi reported to the minister on laying of concrete, Project Director U Ohn Myint on installation of elevators, air conditioners and passenger boarding bridges.
Afterwards, the minister inspected construction of the apron, runways and terminal building and gave instructions on completion of the project as targeted.

YANGON, 13 Feb - The third ceremony of Tames Management Centre took place at Strand Hotel on Seikantha Street, here this morning with the attendance of Pro-Rector Daw Khin Thein Yi of Institute of Economics and faculty members, Managing Director U Win Khaing of TMC and members of the board of directors and guests.

(10) Union Day traditional cultural troupes participate in entertainment programme
YANGON, 13 Feb - Variety traditional dances were presented by Union Day traditional cultural troupes who attended the 52nd Anniversary Union Day Ceremony, at the National Theatre on Myoma Kyaung Road this evening.
Present on the occasion were Deputy Minister for Culture U Soe Nyunt, Director General U Tin Htoo of Fine Arts Department, officials and people.

(11) 74,000 stimulant tablets seized in Muse
YANGON, 13 Feb - A team comprising members of the regional intelligence unit and Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, searched the residence of Nan San Nwan at Zamyinzwe/289, Zay Ward, Muse, northern Shan State, on 27 January.
The authorities seizes 74,000 stimulant tables from Nan San Nwan and Yan Chan, who was together with the house owner, and arrested them.
On further information from Nan San Nwan, 34, and Yan Chan, 30, of Monhtaung Village, Muse Township, the authorities arrested Hsan Kyin Khwan, 29 of Shaukhtaw Village, Kutkai Township, Ma Aung Khin, 17, of Myauk Ward, Muse and Ma Kharm Ai, 27, of Kontha Village, Kutkai, Township in connection with the seizure of the tablets.
Action is being taken against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
