(1) Work coordinated for preservation of national archives
YANGON, 11 Feb - A coordination meeting on work for preservation of national archives was held in the meeting hall of National Archives Department on Pyidaungsu Yeiktha Road, Dagon Township, this afternoon, attended by Chairman of the National Archives Policy Committee Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt.

(2) Secretary-l-receives Japanese Diet member
YANGON, 11 Feb - Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt received Japanese Diet member Mr Kazuo Aichi who called at Dagon Yeiktha of the Ministry of Defence at 8 am today.
Present on the occasion together with Secretary-1 Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt were Minister for Foreign Affairs U Win Aung, Deputy Minister U Khin Maung Win, Deputy Chief of the Office of Strategic Studies Deputy Director of Defence Services Intelligence Brig-Gen Kyaw Win, Director-General Thura U Aung Htet of Protocol Department, and together with the guest was Ambassador of Japan Mr Kazuo Asakai.

(3) Voters of Mawlamyine submit petitions of no confidence in representative-elect of NLD
YANGON, 11 Feb - Over 81.97 per cent or 66,012 eligible voters of Mawlamyine Township submitted signed petitions expressing no confidence in an elected Pyithu Hluttaw representative of National League for Democracy on 7 February.
The 66,012 eligible voters of the township presented their signed petitions of no confidence in U Lun Tin of NLD at Thirimyine, Pabedan and Shwemyinethiri regions in the township that morning.
U Lun Tin was elected as Pyithu Hluttaw representative at the 1990 Multi-party Democracy General Election from Mawlamyine Township Constituency-1 with 39,624 votes or 49.2 per cent of the voters.
Thirimyine
In Thirimyine region, U Ye Naing of Thirimyine Ward, on behalf of 29,326 voters of Thirimyine, Mupon and Kwinyat wards and Kyauktan, Gwegon and Sangyi villages expressed no confidence in U Lun Tin of NLD.
The signed document was presented to U Kyaw Win, a member of sub-group of Township Multi-party Democracy General Election Commission, by U Tin Myaing of Thirimyine Ward.
Present on the occasion were 30,324 people of Thirimyine, Thirimingala, Mupon and Kwinyat wards and Kyauktan, Gwegon and Sangyi villages of the region.
Pabedan
Voters of Maungngan, Pabedan, Bogon, Mayangon and Sitkegon wards totaling 19,881 signed the no-confident petition at the ceremony held in Pabedan region.
In-charge of freight handling workers U Nyan Oo, on behalf of the voters, submitted a petition expressing their non-confidence.
U Ngwe Soe of Maungngan Ward presented the signed document to member of the sub-group of Township Multi-party Democracy General Election Commission U Nyunt Tin.
Local people totaling 24,068 in all of Maungngan, Pabedan, Bogon, Mayangon, Sitkegon, Phettan, Mandalay and Shwedaung wards and Hpa-auk, Yoegon, Kawtkhamei, Kawtkhani, Kya-in and Naungkhayi villages were present on the occasion.
Shwemyinethiri
In Shwemyinethiri region, Retired Teacher U Mehn Soe Than of Ngantay Ward, on behalf of 16,805 voters of Myenigon, Zaygyi and Ngantay wards and Minywa, Chaukmy and Muyaung villages submitted the expression of no confidence.
U Aung Soe of the township presented the signed document to U Kyi Win, member of the sub-group of Township Multi-party Democracy General Election Commission.
Present on the occasion were 29,932 people of Myenigon, Ngantay, Minywa, Chaukmy, Muyaung, Zaygyi, Kyaikphane, Aukkyin, Thaya-aye, Hline, Shwemyinethiri and Zeyathiri wards.

YANGON, 11 Feb - Yangon Chinese Social Association donated K 300,000 to Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association in the meeting hall of the multi-purpose building of MMCWA this morning.
Present at the cash donation ceremony were Chairperson of MMCWA Professor Daw Kyu Kyu Swe, Vice Chairperson Dr Daw Khin Win Shwe and executive committee members, Chairman of YCSA U Maung Than, Vice-Chairmen U Maung Maung Chin and U Kyin Pein and officials.
Vice-Chairperson Dr Daw Khin Win Shwe accepted the cash donation and presented a certificate of honour to the well-wishers.

(5) Fourth International Heroin Conference to be held in Myanmar
YANGON, 11 Feb - A coordination meeting on hosting the Fourth International Heroin Conference at International Business Centre in Yangon from 23 to 26 February was held at the Ministry of Home Affairs this afternoon.
It was attended by Chairman of Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control Minister for Home Affairs Col Tin Hlaing, Deputy Minister for-Foreign Affairs U Khin Maung Win, Deputy Minister for Progress of Border Areas and National Races and Development Affairs U Kyaw Tin, Deputy Commander of Yangon Command Col Hsan Hsint, Director-General of Myanmar Police Force Police Maj-Gen Soe Win, officials of Organizing Leading Committee for the Conference, work committees and subcommittees and guests.

YANGON, 11 Feb - Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Maj-Gen Nyunt Tin met Director-General of Liberal Democratic Party Mr Tomomitsu Iwakura and party who called at his office at 4 pm today.
They discussed matters related to cultivation of buckwheat in border areas, Shan State (North).

(9) Minister inspects Zaungtu Hydroelectric Power Project
YANGON, 11 Feb - Minister for Electric Power Maj-Gen Tin Htut, accompanied by officials of the ministry, visited Zaungtu Hydroelectric Power Project on 9 February morning.
The minister, together with Project Director U Win Kyi and officials, inspected the project.
He gave instructions on completion of the project as early as possible, meeting the set standard, minimizing loss and wastage, taking thrift measures, systematic use and maintenance of machinery and work-site safety.
Yesterday morning, the minister met the project director, officials, departmental personnel and employees in the hall of the project.
He discussed requirements of the project, timely completion of the project and measures to be taken to enable employees to know and understand political, economic and social objectives of the State.
The minister also attended to the requirements at work.

(10) 100 members resign from Dedaye Township NLD
YANGON 11 Feb - One hundred members resigned from National League for Democracy of Dedaye Township, Ayeyawady Division.
One hundred members of Dedaye Township NLD, Ayeyawady Division, of their own volition, resigned by sending letters' of resignation to Dedaye Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission Office and the party concerned on 22-12-98 as they no longer wished to participate in party politics of NLD.

(11) Seventeen members resign from Pwintbyu Township NLD
YANGON, 11 Feb - Seventeen members resigned from National League for Democracy of Pwintbyu Township, Magway Division.
Seventeen members of Pwintbyu Township NLD, Magway Division, of their own volition, resigned by sending letters of resignation to Pwintbyu Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission Office and the party concerned on 11-1-99 as they no longer wished to participate in party politics of NLD.

(12) Htantabin USDA members donate blood
YANGON, 11 Feb - As a gesture hailing the 52nd Anniversary Union Day, altogether 50 members of Htantabin Township Union Solidarity and Development Association of Yangon North District today donated blood for the Tatmadaw members warded at the Defence Services General Hospital.
Lt-Col Hla Tun of DSGH spoke words of thanks to the blood donors.
