(1) Secretary-2 inspects production of farm machinery production of natural fertilizers from waste
YANGON, 8 Oct - Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen
Tin Oo inspected farm machinery manufactured by Agricultural Mechanization
Department in 1999-2000 and production of natural fertilizers from waste by
Myanma Agriculture Service this morning.
The Secretary-2 then inspected
sugarcane cultivating equipment, sugarcane cutters, leaf separators, parts of
engine and gearbox for power-tillers and upgraded machine parts.
On arrival at the main depot of MAS, the Secretary-2 and party were welcomed by Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation , Managing,Director of MAS and officials.
The Secretary-2 and party inspected production of natural fertilizer from
waste with the use of EM solution.

(2) MIC Chairman meets foreign entrepreneurs
YANGON, 8 Oct - Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of Myanmar Investment Commission Vice-Admiral Maung Maung Khin met Area Manager Mr Joseph Cheung and party of China Light & Power-Power International (CLP-PI), Hong Kong, who called at his office this morning.
Also present at the call. were Minister at the State Peace and Development
Council Chairman's Office Secretary of Myanmar Investment Commission and
officials.

(3) Ministry of Construction holds four-monthly meeting
YANGON, 8 Oct - The Ministry of Construction held the second four-monthly meeting for l999 this morning at Department of Human Settlement and Housing Development.
Present at the meeting were Minister for Construction Maj-Gen Saw Tun.
Minister Maj-Gen Saw Tun gave a speech.
He presented prizes to nine students who passed the matriculation examination with distinctions.
In the afternoon, Minister Maj-Gen Saw Tun, accompanied by Deputy Minister and officials, inspected Shwepyitha Bridge Construction Project.
The minister looked into the requirements in Providing equip Personnel of the
project are making efforts for completion as scheduled.

(4) Supervisory Committee for Establishment of Land and Water Transport Links between Myanmar and China meets
YANGON, 8 Oct - Supervisory Committee for Establishment of Land and Water Transport Links between Myanmar and People's Republic of China held a coordination meeting at the Office of Minister for Transport this morning.
Present on the occasion were Chairman of Supervisory Committee for Establishment of Land and Water Transport Links between Myanmar and People's Republic of China Minister for Transport Maj-Gen Hla Myint Swe, Deputy Minister and officials.
Minister Maj-Gen Hla Myint Swe made a speech.

(5) Donation for renovation of ancient pagodas in Bagan
YANGON, 8 Oct - A ceremony to hand over cash for the renovation of ancient pagodas in Bagan and htidaw hoisting ceremony of Saytanagyi Pagoda in Bagan was held at the Ministry of Culture at Kanbawza Yeiktha on Kaba Aye Pagoda Road this morning, attended by Minister for Culture U Win Sein.
Then, well-wishers donated cash for renovation of ancient Pagodas.

(6) Minister for Forestry meets regional MTE officials
YANGON, 8 Oct - Minister for Forestry U Aung Phone met regional officials of Myanma Timber Enterprise at the MTE Head Office this morning.
The minister made a speech on the occasion.
The minister also spoke about selling the seized timber, earning foreign
exchange, minimising loss and wastage of timber, making innovations in timber
extraction and carrying out staff welfare programmes.

YANGON, 8 Oct - The National Convention Convening Commission held coordination meeting at the meeting hall of National Convention Convening Commission this afternoon.
Present were Chairman Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, Vice-Chairman and commission members.
The secretary of NCCC, National Convention Convening Work Committee and National Convention Convening Management Committee reported on matters relating to the National Convention.
Members of the Commission took part in the discussions.
Later, Chairman Maj-Gen Saw Lwin gave the concluding remarks.

YANGON, 8 Oct - The second four-monthly work coordination meeting of the
Bureau of Special Investigation was held in the meeting hall of the Ministry of

(10) Free optical care services provided for aged persons
YANGON, 8 Oct - A ceremony to provide free optical care services to old men and women, aged 70 and above, by Myanma Nawarat Optical Care Cooperative Society Ltd, was held in front of the building of the cooperative society on Shwebontha Street (Middle Block) in Pabedan Township this morning, attended by Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Brig-Gen Pyi Sone.
The minister, the deputy minister and guests observed optical care services
provided for aged persons by oculists.

(11) National people condemn KNU insurgents in Myawady
YANGON, 8 Oct - A ceremony to condemn KNU insurgents by national people was held at the People' s Sports Ground in Myawady on 4 October morning.
Present on the occasion were members of Township Union Solidarity and Development Association, Working Committee for Women's Affairs, Maternal and Child Welfare Association, War Veteran Organization, Township Red Cross Brigade and Auxiliary Fire Brigade, employees of departments and peopble from five wards and Thingan Nyinaung, Maihtawthalay and Whay Shan villages exceeding 5,000.
Afterwards, the chairman sought the approval of the national people, who
unanimously approved the motions.

(12) 32 members resign from Thayetchaung Township NLD
YANGON, 8 Oct - Thirty-two members resigned from the National League for Democracy of Thayetchaung Township, Taninthayi Division.
Thirty-two members of Thayetchaung Township NLD, Taninthayi Division, of
their own volition, resigned by sending letters of resignation to Thayetchaung
Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission Office and the party
concerned on 4 September 1999 as they no longer wished to participate in party
politics of NLD.
