(1) Myanmar Apparel Company Ltd opens garment factory
YANGON, 29 Nov - A ceremony to open the garment factory of Myanmar Apparel Company Ltd was held at the factory on Bamaw Atwinwun Street, Hlinethaya City of Industry, this afternoon, attended by Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt and Secretary-2 Lt-Gen Tin 00.
Present also were ministers, the mayor, deputy ministers, the vice-mayor, heads and officials of the Office of the State Peace and Development Council and departments, members of the board of directors of Myanmar Apparel Company Ltd and guests.
Before the ceremony, the band and pompon troupes of Basic Education High School No 2 of Hlinethaya entertained the guests.
Minister for Construction Maj-Gen Saw Tun and members of the board of directors formally opened the factory.
Secretary-1 Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt formally unveiled the signboard of Myanmar Apparel Company Ltd.
Director of the company U Tint Lwin explained matters pertaining to the factory.
A member of the board of directors handed over K 150,000 for Hlinethaya Township Maternal and Child Welfare Association, Township People's Hospital and township education department to Chairman of Township Peace and Development Council U Shein Min.

(2) Ordination hall of Aungmyay Bodhi Dhamma Yeiktha Alodawpyi Kyaungtaik (Yangon) donated
YANGON, 29 Nov - A ceremony to share merits for donation of Sasana Sobhinibodhi Yadana Ordination Hall of Aungmyay Bodhi Dhamma Yeiktha Alodawpyi Kyaungtaik (Yangon) was held at the Kyaungtaik in Tamway Township this morning, attended by Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt and wife Dr Khin Win Shwe.

(3) Htantabin Township NLD dissolved
YANGON, 29 Nov - The Executive Committee members and all members of Htantabin Township National League for Democracy, Bago Division, have tendered their resignations and dissolved the Township NLD out of their own volition on 25 November 1998.
Htantabin Township NLD, Bago Division, was first formed on 15 October 1988 with 21 EC members but the number was reduced considerably due to various reasons. Out of 21 EC members, only 17 were left.
Now the remaining EC members and 450 members of five Wards and 29 Village-tracts resigned from the party membership out of their own volition since they no longer wish to continue to take part in NLD's political activities. They notified the office of Htantabin Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission and the chairman of the party concerned.
At 10 am on 25 November, personnel of the township NLD dissolved it by handing over the seals, documents and letters of resignation to the Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission.

(4) Secretary-2 attends diploma and certificate conferring ceremony of Co-op Colleges
YANGON, 29 Nov - Central Cooperative College and Yangon Cooperative Regional College held the second ceremony to confer diplomas and certificates for 1996-97 academic year in the hall of Yangon Institute of Nursing this afternoon. Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo attended the ceremony.
Also present were Minister for Cooperatives U Aung San, Ministers at the Office of the Prime Minister Brig-Gen Lun Maung and Lt-Gen Tin Ngwe, Attorney-General U Tha Tun, Auditor-General Brig-Gen Tin Aye, officials of the Office of the State Peace and Development Council and departments and enterprises under the Ministry of Cooperatives, principals and faculty members of cooperative colleges, chairmen of central cooperative societies, groups of cooperatives syndicates, cooperative banks, students of Central Cooperative College and Yangon Cooperative Regional College, course graduates and their parents and guests.

(5) Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation inspects sugar mill dam projects
YANGON, 29 Nov - Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Maj-Gen Nyunt Tin inspected construction of sugar mills and dam projects in Pyay District yesterday.
Accompanied by departmental heads, the Minister arrived at Okkan Sugar Mill Project in Taikkyi Township yesterday morning.
The project director reported to him on progress of work in construction of the mill which will be capable of milling 2,000 tons of sugarcane per day, its water and power supply, and preparations for raw material input for operating the mill.
The minister gave suggestions on regional development, and on the project for running the mill and systematic disposal of the waste.
Together with Managing Director of Myanma Sugarcane Enterprise and engineers, he inspected the completed sections of the mill and installation of machines and equipment.
He proceeded to Weigyi Dam Project situated one mile upstream of Phaung-ai Village, Paungde Township.
The Director of Construction Division 2 explained the project being implemented by Irrigation Department, capacity, plan to distribute water and various construction works.
After giving necessary instructions on works, the minister inspected the condition of the ground at the project site, construction of outlet conduit and other works.
On completion, Weigyi Dam Lying between Taungnyo Dam and South Nawin Dam will be capable of irrigating 45,000 acres. The 115-foot-high dam stretching 4,170 feet will have a storage capacity of 240,000 acre-feet.
Afterwards, Minister Maj-Gen Nyunt Tin toured Nyaunggaing Dam Project in Padaung Township and Nawade Sugar Mill Project near Mya Village, Pyay Township.

(6) Minister for Foreign Affairs arrives back from abroad
YANGON, 29 Nov - Minister for Foreign Affairs U Win Aung arrived back here from abroad by air this morning.
He was welcomed back at Yangon International Airport by Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Brig-Gen Pyi Sone, Minister for Science and Technology U Thaung, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Khin Maung Win, heads of department and officials.

(7) Minister inspects installation of transformers in Toungoo
YANGON, 29 Nov - Minister for Electric Power Maj-Gen Tin Htut and Chief Engineer Dr San Oo of Myanma Electric Power Enterprise inspected installation of three 20 MVA transformers at Toungoo (main) sub-power station on 27 November and discussed matters on completion of work, safety at work-site, security, fire prevention and welfare.
The minister and party went to Paunglaung Hydel Power Project site where they met Project Manager U Wan Kyi and officials.
The minister discussed early completion of the project, construction in accord with standards set, minimizing loss and wastage, safety at work-site, maintenance of machines with care, cooperation among departments, security and welfare.

(8) MPF D-G meets with Division, Districts Township MPFs
YANGON, 29 Nov - Director-General of Myanmar Police Force Col Soe Win met with police officers of Yangon Division, District and Township MPFs at the Division MPF Office this afternoon.
In his address, he pointed out the duty to build MPF strong and consolidated, implement the five primary tasks successfully and keep the code of conduct. He stressed the need for leading officials to have good leadership qualities and provide effective supervision. For materialization of MPF's aims, all need to work unitedly, he said.

(9) Donation for Sports and Education Combined Training Course
YANGON, 29 Nov - A ceremony to donate sports equipment and to present cash for the trust funds (Ngwepadethabin) for Sports and Education Combined Training Course was held at NO 1 Basic Education High School in Mingaladon this afternoon. It was attended by Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee Minister for Sports Brig-Gen Sein Win.
Minister Brig-Gen Sein Win delivered an address on the occasion.
Minister Brig-Gen Sein Win presented sports equipment worth K 245,280 and K 100,000 to Headmaster U Thet Naing for the school and trust funds.
Well-wishers donated K 613,000 to Headmaster U Thet Naing for trust funds.
TEO U Htwe Phyu thanked the officials.
Member of YCDC Col Tin Soe explained about the water supply to the school.
