(1) 1360 ME Myanmar Sarsodaw Day Ceremony held with paying respects to octogenarians of the literati
YANGON, 21 Nov - The 1360 ME Myanmar Sarsodaw Day ceremony in conjunction with the ceremony to pay homage to the doyen literati was held at Yangon City Hall this morning, attended by Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt.
Also present were Minister for Information Maj Gen Kyi Aung, Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Brig-Gen Pyi Sone, Minister for Health Maj-Gen Ket Sein, Minister for Religious Affairs Maj Gen Sein Htwa, Chairman of Yangon City Development Committee Mayor U Ko Lay, Deputy Minister for Culture U Soe Nyunt, Deputy Minister for Information Brig-Gen Aung Thein, Vice-Mayor Col Maung Pa, officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office, departmental heads, the chairman and executives of Myanmar Writes and Journalists Association, chairmen and member of Township WJAs, members of the committee, work committee and subcommittees for organizing the ceremony, well-wishers and specially invited guests.
First, Vice-Chairman of MWJA U Hla Myaing (Ko Saung) spoke of organizing the Sarsodaw Day Ceremony in conjunction with the ceremony to pay homage to the doyen literati.
Afterwards, Secretary of MWJA U Hla Tun (Hla Tun - Twantay) read out the names of octogenarians of the literati, one from Kayin State, two from Bago Division, three from Magway Division, seven from Mandalay Division, two from Mon State, two from Ayeyawady Division and 78 from Yangon Division, to whom homage was to be paid.
Joint Secretary of MWJA U Chit Naing (Chit Naing - Seikpyinnya) read out the list of individuals and organizations that made donations for presenting gifts b the doyen literati.
A total of over K 4.4 million included K 47,500 by the State Peace and Development Council, over K 1.6 million by printing presses, recording studio owners and publishers, K 100,000 by Yangon Division Peace and Development Council, K 1 million by YCDC, K 500,000 by Mandalay City Development Committee, K 30,000 by Myanma Timber Enterprise Golden Jubilee Magazine Committee, K 50,000 by YCDC Literary, Information and Fine Arts Association, K 50,000 by Dr Tin Tun Oo, K 50,000 by U Nay Zin Lat-Daw Khin San, K 50,000 by Col Thaung Wai-Daw Mu Mu, K 50,000 by Daw Mi Mi Khin (President of Myanma Traditional Sports Federation and writer Shwegon Thameedaw), K 50,000 by U Win Shwe-Dr Yi Yi Hla (Yuwady Khin Oo) and K 30,000 by Daw Khin Khin Sein (Yuwady Khin Sein Hlaing) among others. Chairman of MWJA U Kyaw Aung (Kyaw Aung) made a speech.
He spoke of various life-long writings and achievements of the doyen literati and their part in the struggle for national liberation.
He also spoke of the endeavors of the writers to save the race, language and religion from being eclipsed and to organize the entire nation through literary works to be battle-ready for the fight to regain national independence.
He gave solemn promise that the new generation will safeguard and live up to their noble traditions and strive dutifully in the national interest.
Afterwards, Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt, ministers, the mayor, deputy ministers, the chairman and members of MWJA and writers paid respects to the octogenarians of the literati.
Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt, ministers, the mayor and deputy ministers presented gifts to the doyen writers.
On behalf of the doyen of the literati, Sayagyi U Maung Maung Tin (Maung Maung Tin - MA) made a speech expressing appreciation of the respects paid to them.

(2) Land lease contract signed for construction of Golf Resort and Advanced Housing Project
YANGON, 21 Nov - A ceremony to sign land lease contract for construction of Kan Thar Yar Golf Resort and Advanced Housing Project in Dagon Myothit Seikkan Township was held at Hotel Equatorial this evening.
The project will be undertaken by Services international Recreation Development of Myanmar Services International Recreation Development Co Ltd (MSIRDCL) in corporation with Department of Human Settlement and Housing Development.
The ceremony was attended by Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo, Deputy Prime Ministers Vice-Admiral Maung Maung Khin and Lt-Gen Tin Tun, Minister at the Office of the Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Min Thein, Minister for Construction Maj-Gen Saw Tun, Ministers at the Office of the Prime Minister Brig-Gen Lun Maung and Lt-Gen Tin Ngwe, the deputy ministers, officials of the Office of the State Peace and Development Council, departmental heads, private construction entrepreneurs, guests and Chairman of Services International Recreation Development Co Ltd U Maung Maung Swe Tin and Managing Director Dr Mya Thida Swe Tin.
The Secretary-2, the Deputy Prime Ministers and the guests observed the scale model of the project.
In his speech, Minister Maj-Gen Saw Tun said the State Peace and Development Council is endeavouring in nation-building tasks for emergence of a peaceful modern developed Council after laying down political, economic and social objectives. He spoke on efforts for development of agriculture and industry, building of roads and bridges and irrigation networks, establishment of new towns and industrial zones for foreign investors and housing projects.
The project will be undertaken on 221.29 acres of plot in Ward No 73 and 74 in Dagon Myothit Seikkan Township within four years. It includes a 18-hole international standard golf course, swimming pool, tennis court, 231 single unit houses, 600 apartments and other facilities. The cost of the project is over K 2,500 million.
Dr Mya Thida Swe Tin also spoke on the occasion. Director-General of DHSHD U Arnt Kyaw and U Maung Maung Swe Tin then signed the contract.
Minister Maj-Gen Saw Tun then presented work permit of Myanmar Investment Commission to U Maung Maung Swe Tin. Students of Arts Association of the University of Culture entertained the guests with variety the gusts with variety of dances at the dinner.

(3) Meeting-held to coordinate preparatory for maintenance of Shwedagon Pagoda Htidaw
YANGON, 21 Nov - A coordination meeting on regilding the Shwedagon Pagoda and inspecting maintenance of Seinphudaw, Hngetmyatnadaw and Htidaw was held at the Old Museum Tazaung on the platform of the pagoda this morning attended by Chairman of the Committee for Gilding the Shwedagon Pagoda and Inspecting Maintenance of Seinphudaw, Hngetmyatnadaw and Htidaw Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt Gen Khin Nyunt.
Also present were Minister for Construction Maj Gen Saw Tun, Minister for Religious Affairs Maj-Gen Sein Htwe Chairman of the Inspection Committee Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Brig-Gen Thura Myint Maung, Vice-Chairman of the Committee Deputy Commander of Yangon Command Col Hsan Hsint, Officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office, departmental heads, Myanmar engineers and architects, member of the Board of Trustees and well-wishers.
First, the Secretary-1 accepted donations which were:- $153,000 by U Maung Maung Lwin-Daw Khin Nyo and family with the patronage of Tipitakadhara Mingun Sayadaw Bhaddanta Vicittasarabhivamsa, and K 100,000 by Managing Director U Zaw Weik with the patronage of U Sein Kyaw-Daw Li. He presented certificates honor to the donors.
Deputy Minister Brig Gen Thura Myint Maung explained the tasks for inspecting the maintenance of the Htidaw of the pagoda, findings and preparations being made for the maintenance.
Next, Deputy Commander Col Hsan Hsint also reported on preparatory works for maintenance of the Htidaw. Member of the Board of Trustees U Thant Zin presented a report on gilding of the pagoda, and members of the Structure Group on the tasks to be carried out for maintenance of the Htidaw means of modern technology.
Later, the Secretary-1 inspected the preparatory works.
In his address, he noted that it is essential to coordinate with the scholars and experts of Meaner traditions and architectural designs for gilding the pagoda and application of modern technology in working for maintenance of the Htidaw, Seinphudaw and Hngetmyatnadaw.
He stressed the need for the technicians to strive their utmost and apply their knowledge ant capability in carrying out the tasks on the Shwedagon, the most revered of the Buddhists here.
He said the government will provide all out support in the works and called for enthusiastic cooperation of scholars and technicians for perpetual existence of the Shwedagon.
Together with scholars and technicians, the Secretary-1 went atop and paid obeisance to the sacred Htidaw of the Shwedagon.

(4) Tatmadaw families, well-wishers donate dry rations to nunnery in Hline Township
YANGON, 21 Nov - Ceremonies to donate dry rations and alms to Triyadana Nunnery and to share merits for two story new building at the nunnery were held at the nunnery in Ward 14, Hline Township, in Yangon West District today, attended by Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Chief of the Bureau of Special Operations Chief of Staff (Army) Lt-Gen Tin Oo.
The dry rations and alms were donated by families of Defence Services (Army, Navy, Air) and well-wishers and the two-storey new building by Olympic Company.
The ceremonies were attended by Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Brig-Gen Pyi Sone, Minister at the Office of the Prime Minister Brig Gen Lun Maung, senior military officers, Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs U Aung Khin, Vice Chairman of Yangon City Development Committee Vice-Mayor Col Maung Pa, OSD to the Office of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Col Than Tint and departmental officials, wisher Chairman of Olympic Company U Aik Tun, other well-wishers and guests.
Lt-Gen Tin Oo and officials presented offertories to members of the Sangha after receiving the Eight Precepts from Chairman of Township Sangha Nayaka Committee Padana Nayah Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandia Bhaddanta Panditarama Sarthintaik.
Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs U Aung Khin presented treatises on codes of conduct of monks to members of the Sangha.
Well-wisher U Aik Tun presented related documents of two-storey new building to Padana Nayaka Sayagyi of Triyadana Nunnery Daw Pinna Theingi and explained the aim of the donation.
Deputy Minister U Aung Khin spoke on the occasion.
U Aik Tun then presented saving books to chairman of Township Sangha Nayaka Committee for Soon Padaythabin of 64 monasteries and Triyadana Nunnery in Hline Township.

YANGON, 21 Nov - A ceremony to honour personnel of Myanma Electric Power Enterprise who provided assistance in installation of overhead power lines and sodium lights on Shwebontha Street (central block) on self-reliance basis was held at Yandeh Mingala Hall in Pabedan Township this morning.
Present were Minister for Electric Power Maj-Gen Tin Htut, chairmen of Township and Ward Peace and Development Councils and members, departmental officials and local residents.
The minister spoke on alternative power cuts, efforts for regular distribution of power and public participation.
Chairman of Township Peace and Development Council U Thiha and Chairman of Committee U Hla Myint also spoke.
Treasurer Daw Hla Hla Win presented K 100,000 to Electrical Engineer U Hla Win, on behalf of personnel of MEPE.

(6) Minister for Transport inspects Myanma Shipyards
YANGON, 21 Nov - Minister for Transport Maj-Gen Hla Myint Swe arrived at Myanma Shipyards this morning. The Minister was welcomed by Deputy Minister for Transport Brig-Gen Kyaw Myint, Managing Director of Myanma Shipyards U Percy Maung Maung and officials.
U Percy Maung Maung reported on the history of the MS, organizational setup, functions and financial matters with audio visual aids.
Deputy Minister Brig Gen Kyaw Myint reported on the requirements.
Minister Maj-Gen Hla Myint Swe said the ministry is a foreign exchange earner and all have to exert efforts in accord with the Twelve Objectives.
He spoke of the need to earn more FE than targeted in next four month Previously, he said, the MS repaired ships and now it began to build ships and officials are to make field trip to grassroots level.
He also spoke on acquiring of qualifications of a good leader, upholding prestige of the ministry and following the motto of the ministry speedy transport of goods to people's satisfaction.
The minister inspected the drawing-board design of ship with the use of computers, welding factory, ship building wood factory and cold storage.

(7) Industrial project sites of Ministry of Industry-2 inspected
YANGON, 21 Nov - Minister for Industry-2 Maj-Gen Saw Lwin Deputy Minister U Thein Tun and officials arrived at industrial project sites of the Ministry of Industry-2 in Industrial Zone in Dagon Myothit (South) this morning.
They were welcomed by the managing director Myanmar Suzuki Motor Co Ltd and officials.
Director-General of Directorate of Myanma Industrial Planning U Khin Maung reported on the plot and construction of Workshop, Managing Director of Myanma Industrial Construction Services U Ye Tun on progress of work and Managing Director of Myanma Machine Tools and Electrical Industries Col Kyaw Win on water and power supply and shifting of dry cell factory.
Deputy Minister U Thein Tun also reported on the requirements.
The minister gave instructions on completion of work in time. He inspected installation of machines at the dry cell factory and construction of Suzuki Motor Co Ltd and Myanmar Daewoo Electronic Co Ltd.

(8) Thanatpin Township NLD dissolved
YANGON, 21 Nov - All Executive Committee members of National League for Democracy in Thanatpin Township, Bago Division, have tendered their resignations and dissolved the Township NLD out of their own volition.
Thanatpin Township NLD, Bago Division, was first formed with seven Executive Committee members on 15 October 1988 and it was extended with 21 EC members on 26 April 1991. On 2 August 1996, the Township NLD was 251 executives and 705 members of three Ward and 33 Village-tracts and all EC members of Township NLD resigned from the party membership out of their own volition since they no longer wished to continue to participate in NLD political activities. They notified the office of Thanatpin Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission and the chairman of the party concerned. On 18 November, personnel of the township NLD dissolved it by handing over the signboard, seals and documents to the Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission.

(9) Symposium on new approach to treatment of diarrhoea
YANGON, 21 Nov - A symposium on a new approach to diarrhoea treatment was held at Traders Hotel this morning by Myanmar Ltd.
It was presided over by Dr Thein Thein Myint, Professor and Head of Department of the Children's with two speakers Dr Tin May Nyunt, Consultant Physician of Workers Hospital, and Dr Aye Maung Han, Consultant Pediatrician and Senior Lecturer at the Children's Hospital.
Mr Hans Rpuppe Vender Voort, general manger of Myanmar Organon, gave an introductory speech explaining the potency of anti diarrhea agent Antibio.
Discussion by the two speakers explained the use and effectiveness of their
work concerning the new approach to treatment of diarrhea.
