(1)   Secretary-1 receives Chairman of Fujitsu

YANGON, 11 Sept - Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt received Chairman Mr Tadashi Sekizawa and party of Fujitsu Ltd of Japan at Dagon Yeiktha of the Ministry of Defence at 5 pm today.

Present were Minister for Foreign Affairs U Ohn Gyaw, Deputy Minister U Khin Maung Win and Director-General Thura U Aung Htet of the Protocol Department.

(2)   Cash assistance provided for disabled Tatmadawmen who sacrificed limbs for the country

YANGON, 11 Sept - The 27th ceremony to provide cash assistance for in service Tatmadawmen who sacrificed their limbs by Thanmyanthu Economic Enterprise was held in the meeting hall of Yangon City Hall this afternoon, and Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Chief of Bureau of Special Operations Chief of Staff (Army) Lt-Gen Tin Oo addressed the ceremony and presented cash assistance.

Also present were Secretary-3 of the State Peace and Development Council Adjutant-General Lt-Gen Win Myint, Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Brig-Gen Pyi Sone, Chief of Staff (Navy) Captain Kyi Min, Chief of Staff (Air) Col Myint Swe, Vice-Adjutant-General Brig-Gen Maung Nyo, Deputy Minister for Labour U Kyaw Aye, Deputy Minister for Forestry Col Thaik Tun, Vice-Mayor Col Maung Pa, senior military officers, department heads, well-wishers and in service Tatmadawmen who sacrificed their limbs.

In his address, Lt-Gen Tin Oo said the ceremony held today is the 27th ceremony to provide cash assistance for disabled Tatmadawmen who sacrificed their limbs and eyes while carrying out national defence duty.

The Government and the national people are cooperating for emergence of a peaceful, modern and developed nation, he said and added nationalities, nursing a mistaken belief, were fighting with each other beginning Independence as a result of the sinister design of colonialists, and the people had to lead a panic-stricken life and lost their lives and property.

The Tatmadawmen also sacrificed their lives and limbs, he stated and added to avoid these tragedies, the Government has prioritized the national reconsolidation, and as a result, all nationalities armed groups except KNU have already entered the peaceful systematic political framework and are joining hand in hand with the Government.

The Government is paving the way for the emergence of discipline-flourishing democracy, he stated and added in this regard, there may be difference of norms of human rights, and only when efforts are made in accord with one's own way of living, will it be objective and successful.

He warned some political parties having personality cult and possessed by outside sorcery to conscientiously stop their acts of inciting civil unrest with impossible demands.

It is high time to discreetly and unitedly strive for the interest of the country and the entire people without putting self-interest in the forefront and to take lessons from the political events of world nations, he said and noted if all is cohesively united, any difficulties can be overcome.

With the arrangement of the Ministry of Defence, efforts are being made for the Tatmadawmen, who sacrificed their limbs while discharging defence, security and nation-building tasks of the State, to be able to enjoy deserving benefits in accord with rules and regulations and to acquire vocational education, he stated and added moreover, cash assistance presenting ceremonies are being held continuously.

Over K 50 million has already been provided up to 26th cash assistance presenting ceremony, he said and added arrangements are being made to provide cash assistance for about 2,000 disabled Tatmadawmen in cooperation with well-wishers.

He lauded contributions made by well-wishers with goodwill and of their own volition.

It is found that the Directorate of Resettlement are engaged in proper businesses in accord with instructions of the Adjutant-General and striving to provide more cash assistance for disabled Tatmadawmen month by month, he noted and added because of contributions of well-wishers, the provision of cash assistance to the in-service disabled Tatmadawmen will soon be completed.

With a view to providing cash assistance for veterans who are not up to the required medical standard, arrangements are being made to run Thanmyanthu private bus lines in Mandalay, Mawlamyine and Monywa under the supervision of the commands, he said and stated in Yangon, monthly cash assistance are being provided for 100 veterans who are not up to the required medical standard.

He urged disabled Tatmadawmen to do their level best in discharging their assigned duties in return for gratitude of the State and the people.

He also wished donors every success in secular and religious affairs for their noble contributions.

In conclusion, he called on Tatmadawmen who received cash assistance to repay pure and noble donation of well-wishers with correct goodwill and labour, to uphold the fine traditions of the Tatmadaw which serves the interest of the State and the people from its birth to date and to strive for the interest of the State and the people.

Then, the Secretary-3 thanked the well-wishers.

The Secretary-2 accepted K 600,000 donated by U Tin Win and Daw San Win of KN Company, K 200,000 by Managing Director of Thanmyanthu Construction Group (in charge of publishing 1998 Thanmyanthu Economic Enterprise Calendar) and K 117,000, 65 Engyis and 65 Longyis by Agga Maha Thiri Thudhamma Theingi Daw Hse and sons (Ngwehse Company, Mandalay).

The Secretary-3 accepted FEC 500 donated by Essential Products Co Ltd and K 100,000 by Thanmyanthu (Mawlamyine) Phayathonhsu Motorcycle Enterprise.

Brig-Gen Pyi Sone, Col Thaik Tun, U Kyaw Aye and Vice-Mayor Col Maung Pa also accepted the donations, and presented certificates of honour to the well-wishers.

The Secretary-2 presented K 200,000-worth account books of Myanma Economic Holdings Ltd to two disabled Tatmadawmen who sacrificed two legs for the country.

The Secretary-3, Brig-Gen Pyi Sone, Col Thaik Tun, officials and well-wishers presented account books to disabled Tatmadawmen who sacrificed a leg for the country.

Captain Kyi Min and Brig-Gen Maung Nyo presented K 10,000 each to 50 disabled Tatmadawmen who sacrificed their limbs.

Then, Thanmyanthu Economic Enterprise and Golden Home Aluminium Company donated K 5,000 each to Mary Chapman's School for the Deaf and Dumb, Insein Khawegyan and Kyimyindine blind schools and Training School for Disabled Adults of Kyaikwaing Pagoda Road.

(3)   Preliminary meeting of Annual General Meeting (1998) of USDA held

YANGON, 11 Sept - A preliminary meeting of the Annual General Meeting (1998) of the Union Solidarity and Development Association was held in the Union Hall of Management Training School for USDA Executives at Central Public Relations Unit, Hmawby, this morning.

Present were members of the Central Executive Committee of USDA, secretaries and executives of State and Division USDAs and delegates of State, Division, District and Township USDAs.

Member of the Secretariat of USDA U Khin Maung Thein presided over the meeting with CEC members U Ohn Myint and U Myo Tint as members of the panel of chairmen.

(4)   Two Toyota Lite Ace for Rector Sayadaws

YANGON, 11 Sept - A ceremony to mark giving the name for Maung Pyay Thuta to their son, under the patronage of U Aung Thu-Daw Kyin Aye of Yangon, Mr Zuiho Naka Shita-Daw Aye Aye Khaing and son Maung Pyay Thuta of Japan donated two Toyota Lite Ace cars to be used in missionary of Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Abidaza Maha Rahtaguru Abidaza Agga Maha Thaddammazawtika Sayadaw Bhaddanta Thawbita and Rector of State Pariyatti Thathana Tekkatho Agga Maha Pandita Agga Gandawasaka Pandita Sayadaw Baddanta Panditabiwantha at Zabudipa Hall in Kaba Aye at 10.30 am today.

Minister for Religious Affairs Maj-Gen Sein Htwa, on behalf of the Sayadaws, accepted the donations and presented a certificate of honour to the donor.

Later, the donors offered soon to the Sayadaws and shared merit gained.

(5)   Minister inspects electric, electronic appliance factory project in Dagon Myothit (South)

YANGON, 11 Sept - A Myanmar delegation led by Minister for Transport Lt-Gen Tin Ngwe arrived back here by air this evening after attending the Fourth Meeting of ASEAN Transport Ministers in Singapore on 9 and 10 September.

They were welcomed back at Yangon International Airport by Minister at the Office of Prime Minister Maj-Gen Tin Ngwe, Minister for Sports Brig-Gen Sein Win, Deputy Minister for Transport Brig-Gen Kyaw Myint, Ambassador of Singapore Brig-Gen Patrick Choy Choong Tow and staff, directors-general, managing directors, principal and advisers and relatives.

Members of the delegation Director-General U Khin Maung Myint of Transport Department and Director-General U Hla Aung of Road Transport Administration Department who attended the 6th Meeting of High Ranking Officials of ASEAN Transport Affairs and PSO Captain Zaw Myo also arrived back here.

(6)   Myanmar delegation back from Singapore

YANGON, 11 Sept - Minister for Industry-2 Maj-Gen Hla Myint Swe inspected electric and electronic appliance factory construction project of Myanma Machine Tool and Electrical Industries in Dagon Myothit (South) this morning.

The minister was accompanied by Deputy Minister U Thein Tun and officials and welcomed at the project site by Acting Managing Director U Aung Kyi of Myanma Industrial Construction Services, Yangon Division Electrical Engineer U Saw Win and officials.

Project Director U Than Aye of MICS briefed the minister on progress of the project, U Saw Win and Chairman U Kyaw Myint of Myanma Hlyatsit Alinyaung Cooperative Society Ltd arrangements for power supply, and Director U Win Tint of MMTEI relocation of workshops.

(7)    Minister for CPT receives foreign entrepreneurs

YANGON, 11 Sept - Minister for Communications, Posts and Telegraphs Brig-Gen Win Tin received Chairman Mr Tadashi Sekizawa and party of Fujitsu Limited of Japan at his office at 10 am today.

Likewise, the minister received Vice-Chairman Mr Ng Seng Sum and party of Singapore Telecom, International Carrier Services of Japan at 1.30 pm.

Present were Project Manager U Ye Win and party of Myanma Posts and Telecommunications.

YANGON, 11 Sept - Minister for National Planning and Economic Development U Soe Tha received Chairman Mr Tadashi Sekizawa and party of Fujitsu Ltd of Japan at his office at 5.30 pm today.

Present were officials of the ministry.

(9)   On-job Training Course 11 for Judicial Officers conclude

YANGON, 11 Sept - On-job Training Course 11 for Judicial Officers concluded today at Supreme Court addressed by Chief Justice U Aung Toe.

Trainees should dutifully work as Deputy Township Judges, effectively combining knowledge gained at the course and at the practical field, he said.  They should always study rules and regulations and work in cooperation with personnel of the law enforcement organizations members of Myanmar Police Force and other departments, he noted.

They should stay aloof from bribery and favoritism practices and work with goodwill, he noted.

They should be loyal to the State, to strictly observe the rules and regulations, to avoid misusing rights and to work in the respective sectors for national progress placing in the fore the guidelines laid down by high-level officials of the State, he stressed.

Supreme Court judges, the director-general, directors instructors and 39 trainees who had competed the course were also present.

Gifts were presented to outstanding trainees.
