(1)   ECOTONE VII Regional Seminar for Southeast Asia and East Asia: Integrated Coastal Zone Management opens

YANGON, 15 June - ECOTONE VII Regional Seminar for Southeast Asia and East Asia: Integrated Coastal Zone Management was held at Sedona Hotel with an address by Chairman of National Commission for Environmental Affairs Minister for Foreign Affairs U Ohn Gyaw.  Present were the deputy ministers, heads of departments, ambassadors, diplomats, officials of UN agencies, representatives of Cambodia, the People's Republic of China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam, the Republic of Korea, and t UNESCO Office and guests.

(2)   Perpetual existence of nation and national races is main task of Immigration and Population Ministry

YANGON, 15 June - Special Refresher Course No.2 for Officers of the Ministry of Immigration and Population opened this morning with an address by CEC member of Union Solidarity and Development Association Minister for Immigration and Population U Saw Tun.

Chairman of Civil Service Selection and Training Board U Maung Maung Gyi, Deputy Minister for Immigration and Population U Maung Aung, Rector of Central Institute of Civil Service U Tin Tun, Director-General of Immigration and National Registration Department Col Maung Htay, Director-General of Manpower Department U Nyi Pu, Deputy Director General Lt-Col Myo Min, instructors and other officials were also present.

The six-week course is being attended by 250 trainees of the ministry.

(3)   Minister for Home Affairs arrives back from 26th Special Session of UNGA

YANGON, 15 June - A delegation led by Minister for Home Affairs Col Tin Hlaing arrived back here by air this afternoon from New York after attending the 20th Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The delegation was welcomed back at Yangon International Airport by Minister for Religious Affairs Maj Sein Htwa. Minister at the Office of the Prime Minister U Than Shwe, Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Brig-Gen Thura Myint Maung, Director-General of Myanmar Police Force Police Maj-Gen Soe Win, directors-general of the ministry, Resident Representative of UNDCP Mr Richard F Dickins, departmental officials and families.

The delegation members are Head of Department of the Office of Strategic Studies Col Kyaw Thein, Rector of Yangon University Dr Tin Aung Aye, Police Col Kham Aung of Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control and Director U Tin Maung Aye of International Organizations and Economic Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

(4)   Minister receives Vice-President of Hyundai Electronic Industries Pte Ltd

YANGON, 15 June - Minister for Communications Posts and Telegraphs Brig-Gen Win Tin received Vice-President of Hyundai Electronic Industries Pte Ltd Mr H Y Kim of Republic of Korea and General Manager of Comintel Berhad Mr K H Lim and party of Malaysia at his office this morning.

Project Manager of Myanma Posts and Telecommunications U Ye Win and officials were also present.

(5)   Myanmar-Bangladesh bade discussed

YANGON, 15 June - A 17-member delegation led by Chairman of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr R Maksud Khan, accompanied by Ambassador of Bangladesh Mr Jahangir Saadat, discussed trade with officials of Union of Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Office of UMCCI this morning.

Chairman of UMCCI U Khin Maung Yi explained about functions, of UMCCI economic conditions in Myanmar, progress and prospects and bilateral trade.

Mr Maksud Khan discussed ways to promote bilateral trade, progress in Myanmar and cooperation.

General Secretary U Maung Maung, the Chairman of Rakhine State Industrialists Association, Maungtaw Border Trade Merchants Association and other officials took part in the discussions.

(6)   Deputy Minister for Livestock and Fisheries receives President of CEO CETRACO

YANGON, 15 June - Deputy Minister for Livestock and Fisheries U Aung Thein received President of CFO CETRACO Company Mr Jean Pichon and party of France at his office this afternoon.

Present also were Deputy Director-General of the Fisheries Department U Than Tun, Head of Office. U Myint Shwe and officials.

(7)   Promotion of bilateral trade discussed

YANGON, 15 June - Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for Commerce Commodore Myo Tint and Bangladesh delegation led by Chairman of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr R Maksud Khan, accompanied by Ambassador of Bangladesh Mr Jahangir Saadat, discussed promotion of bilateral trade at the Ministry of Commerce this morning.  Present were officials of both countries.

(8)   Electrician course (level-2) opens

YANGON, 15 June - An electrician course (level-2) organized by Regional Industrial Coordination and Industries Inspection Department opened at the hall of electrical inspection department on Kyaikwaing Pagoda Road, Mayangon Township this afternoon, with an address by Minister for Industry-l U Aung Thaung. Present were Deputy Minister for Industry-l Brig-Gen Thein Tun, the directors- general and managing directors of departments and enterprises, officials, course instructors and trainees.

Minister U Aung Thaung stressed the importance of industrial sector and electric power for national development.  He spoke at length on functions and supervision of Regional Industries Coordination and Industries Inspection Department.

The minister, the deputy minister and guests inspected electrical equipment. The minister also met service personnel.

The six-week course is being attended by 70 trainees.

(9)   Minister for Forestry tours Mandalay Division, Shan State

YANGON, 15 June - Minister for Forestry U Aung Phone discussed catchment plantations in Inlay region with the commander of Eastern Command at Inlay Khaungdine on 12 June.

On 13 June, the minister discussed greening of Taunggyi west sector and drafting of three-year catchment plantation project in Ywangan, Pindaya, Kalaw, Nyaungshwe and Pinlaung Townships for Inlay Lake, Kinda, Zawgyi and Paunglaung Dams.

In the afternoon, the minister discussed planting of pine in Kalaw and inspected Yinmabin No.59 Saw Mill.

Yesterday morning, the minister inspected saw mills on Pyinmana-Taungdwingyi Road.

This morning, the minister met Rector and faculty members of Yezin Institute of Forestry.

On his way to Yangon, he also discussed planting of special teak at Pyinmana, Lewe, Yedashe, Phyu and Kyauktaga Townships.
