He said the State Peace and Development Council was constituted in response to the need of the time, and he stressed the need for service personnel to strive their utmost in the endeavours being made by the government to build a modern nation based on the developing conditions.
He said the government is implementing the political, economic and social objectives upholding Our Three Main National Causes, and law officers are required to carry out the tasks contributing to stability of the State, community peace and tranquillity and prevalence of law and order, which are primarily concerned with their work.
Law officers, he said, must pay serious attention to handing down deterrent, rigorous sentences to the offenders for crime reduction.
While the government is practising the market-oriented economic system, it is essential for law officers to try not to be used as stepping stones in the entrepreneurs' disputes and cases, and to give sound legal advice and avoid corrupt practices, he said, adding they are responsible to tell the courts to hand down appropriate sentences to the offenders and cooperate with law enforcement departments and courts for reduction of crimes.
He also spoke of the need for state/division law officers to constantly provide effective supervision at various law offices and carry out staff welfare and told them to avoid the means of finding funds abusing their rights.
He said law officers must not permit legal marriage of Myanmar women and foreigners, for this spoil the spirit of patriotism, and they must follow the inter-department directives and regulations. A general round of discussions followed.
