(2) Senior General Than Shwe and Daw Kyaing Kyaing host Armed Forces Day reception and dinner
YANGON, 27 Mar - Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Than Shwe and Daw Kyaing Kyaing hosted reception and dinner in commemoration of the 53rd Anniversary Armed Forces Day at Zeya Thiri Beikman, Konmyinttha, Yangon Command, here today.
The Senior General and Daw Kyaing Kyaing arrived at the venue of the reception and dinner at 6.45 pm.

YANGON, 27 Mar - The prizes winning marching columns, companies, and battalions in the 53rd Anniversary Armed Forces Day Parade and the prizes winners in the 53rd Anniversary Armed Forces Day Commemorative Military Code of Conduct Contest and Extempore Talks Contest (Central Level) were awarded prizes at Myoma Grounds on U Wizara Road this morning.
Chairman of the Leading Committee for Observance of the 53rd Anniversary Armed Forces Day Chief of Bureau of Special Operations Chief of Staff (Army) Lt-Gen Tin Oo presented prizes and certificates of honour.
Present also were Chairman of Military Parade Work Committee Chief of Armed Forces Training Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, Chairman of Best Company Selection Work Committee Vice-Adjutant-General Brig-Gen Maung Nyo, Senior Tatmadaw officers, officials of Myanmar Police Force, Fire Services Department and Myanmar Red Cross Society.
First, Parade Commander Brig-Gen Lun Maung and Tatmadaw columns saluted Lt-Gen Tin Oo.
Shinbyushin Column Military Band won the best military band award, Shinbyushin Column standard bearer company the best standard bearer company award, Office of the Director of Ordnance Services marching song third prize, Office of the Director of Medical Services marching song second prize, North-West Command marching song first prize, No 101 LID military discipline third prize, Central Command military discipline second prize, No 77 LID military discipline first prize, South-West Command parade third prize, Office of the Director of Supply and Transport parade second prize, Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) parade first prize, Yangon Command model third prize, Office of the Commander- in-Chief (Air) model second prize, Office of the Director of Artillery and Armour model first prize, Bayintnaung Column the best parade column, Central Military Band special military band award and Bag-pipe Troupe special bag-pipe award.
Commanding officers of the companies and columns accepted the prizes.
Lt-Gen Tin Oo also presented prizes to Myanmar Red Cross Society Company No 2 of Aung San Column, Myanmar Police Force Company No 3 of Aung San Column, Fire Services Department Company No 2 of Aung San Column.
Myanmar Red Cross Society Company No 1 won the marching song best prize, Fire Services Department Company No 1 military discipline best prize and Myanmar Police Force Company No 1 parade best prize.

YANGON, 27 Mar - Deputy Minister for Health Professor Dr Mya Oo inspected health care services and hospitals in Chin State and Sagaing and Mandalay Divisions from 22 to 26 March.
Accompanied by the Deputy Director-General of Health Department, the deputy minister first arrived in Kalay, Sagaing Division, and inspected health care services in the town and villages in its environs.
He then inspected lunch for student athletes taking part in Student Sports Festival at Var Camp and gave instructions.
In the evening, the deputy minister met personnel of Health Department and local health staff at Haka People's Hospital and gave necessary instructions on health care services for the, athletes taking part in the Student Sports Festival.
On 23 March, he visited patients warded at the hospital and oversaw construction of Out-Patient Department building and staff quarters in the compound of the hospital.
He met Chairman of Chin State Peace and Development Council Col Ohn Thwin on 24 March and discussed with him health care services for the region and the sports festival.
The deputy minister then arrived in Falam and inspected the hospital and the nurses training school there.
He arrived in Kalay in the evening and met patients warded at Kalay People's Hospital.

(6) Nationalities of various hill regions go sightseeing in Yangon
YANGON, 27 Mar - Nationalities of various hill regions who were invited by Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) General Maung Aye, together with supervisors, attended the 53rd Anniversary Armed Forces Day Parade Ceremony at the Resistance Park at 8 am today.
At afternoon, they visited the National Museum and Defence Services Museum.
They then proceeded to Maha Wizaya Pagoda and Shwedagon Pagoda, and paid obeisance to the pagodas.

(7) Minister inspects sports grounds, buildings
YANGON, 27 Mar - Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee Minister for Sports Brig-Gen Sein Win, accompanied by Deputy Director-General Lt-Col Thein Aung, Directors Lt-Col Than Zaw, U Kyaw Soe Myint and officials, arrived at the Sports and Physical Education Institute this morning.
The minister and party inspected construction site of modern gymnasium at Sports and Education Combined Training School, repairing sports grounds, repaving track, construction of buildings for service personnel of Sports and Education Combined Training School.
The minister and party proceeded to Youth Training Centre (Thuwunna) and inspected construction site of three-storey buildings and mess for athletes, which are being built by Myanmar Unit Construction Group.

YANGON, 27 Mar - The ceremony to unveil plaque to mark Golden Jubilee Air Force Day was held at Mingaladon Air Force Base at 10.30 am today.
Present were Member of State Peace and Development Council Commander-in-Chief (Air) Maj-Gen Kyaw Than, Commander of Mingaladon Air Force Base Brig-Gen Tin Oo, Deputy Commander Col Bo Kyi and senior military officers of Tatmadaw (Air).
First, Maj-Gen Kyaw Than took the salute of Guard of Honour and unveil the plaque.
Then, Maj-Gen Kyaw Than and senior military officers posed souvenir photo in front of the plaque.

(9) Phyu digital electronic auto-exchange launched
YANGON, 27 Mar - A ceremony to launch a new 500-line DRX-I digital electronic auto-exchange in Phyu Township was held at Phyu Auto-exchange of Myanma Posts and Telecommunications yesterday morning.
The ceremony was attended by Chairman of Bago Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Southern Command Brig-Gen Tin Aye, members of division, district and township Peace and Development Councils, Managing Director of Myanma Posts and Telecommunications Col Maung Maung Tin and service personnel, departmental personnel and residents over 5,000.
At 9 am, Brig-Gen Tin Aye and Col Maung Maung Tin launched the exchange and spoke.
Then, Col Maung Maung Tin and officials presented certificates of honour and gift to staff who participated in installation of the exchange.
Phyu digital electronic auto-exchange was installed with equipment made by Ericsson Company of Sweden and which can be used for local and international direct dialing.

(10) Collective sale of paddy in Kungyangon
YANGON, 27 Mar - Farmers of various village tracts collectively sold 2,011 baskets of paddy at purchase centres in Kungyangon Township on 22 March.
Chairman of Township Peace and Development Council U Hla Thein and members, Township Manager of Myanma Agricultural Produce Trading U Myint Swe and staff fulfilled the requirements of the farmers.

(11) Military attaches pay tribute to Fallen Heroes
YANGON, 27 Mar - Military attaches of embassies here paid tribute to the Fallen Heroes this morning after they had attended the 53rd Anniversary Armed Forces Day Parade held at the Resistance Park.
The military attaches led by Dean of Military Attaches of Embassies Col Akira Sato of Japanese Embassy laid flower baskets at the Memorial to the Fallen Heroes where they were welcomed by Vice-Adjutant-General Brig-Gen Maung Nyo, Commander of No 4 Military Region Col Myo Myint and officials.
They then signed in the Visitors Book and had souvenir photos taken.
