(1) MEC Chairman inspects primary schools renovated by Minami Construction Co in Sangyoung Township

YANGON, 21 Feb - Chairman of Myanmar Education Committee Secretary-l of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt inspected the renovated buildings at the primary schools in Sangyoung Township this afternoon.

Accompanied by officials of the Office of the State Peace and Development Council, Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt arrived at Sangyoung Basic Education Primary School No 2 at the corner of Hanthawady Street and Kyundaw Street.

The school was renovated by Minami Construction Company.

The Secretary-1 was welcomed there' by Minister for Education U Than Aung, Secretary of Yangon City Development Committee Col Myint Aung, the Director-General of Basic Education Department, departmental officials, chairmen of District and Township Peace and Development Councils, Headmaster U Aung Thein and teachers, executives of the Parent-Teacher Association, Managing Director U Maung Maung Myint of Minami Construction Company and pupils.

The Headmaster briefed the Secretary-1 on the salient points about the school, pass-rate and renovation of the building.

Minister for Education U Than Aung and other officials presented supplementary reports.

The Secretary-1 gave necessary instructions to the officials.

Later, Managing Director U Maung Maung Myint and wife Daw Yamin Maung Maung Myint presented the related documents on the school building renovated at a cost of K 1.8 million to Director-General of Basic Education Department U Bo Win, and K 100,000 for the school and uniforms valued at K 30,000 for teachers to Headmaster U Aung Thein.

The Secretary-1 inspected the school and left necessary instructions.

The Secretary-1 and party next proceeded to BEPS 3 in Yadanabon Street, Montletsaunggon South Ward, where they were welcomed by Headmaster U Chit Sein and teachers, PTA members, members of Township Union Solidarity and Development Association and pupils.

The Headmaster briefed the Secretary-1 on the salient points about the school.

The school building was renovated at a cost of K 2.5 million by Minami Construction Co.

Managing Director U Maung Maung Myint and wife presented the related documents to Director-General U Bo Win, and K 100,000 for the school and uniforms worth K 30,000 for teachers to Headmaster U Chit Sein.

Later, the Secretary-1 inspected the renovated school building.

They next went to BEPS 4 in Montletsaunggon Street, Sangyoung Township.

They were welcomed by Headmistress Daw Hta Hta May and teachers, PTA executives, USDA members and pupils.

After hearing reports on the school and renovation, the Secretary-1 gate instructions to the officials.

Minami Construction Co renovated the school at a cost of K 1.3 million.

U Maung Maung Myint and wife presented the related documents to Director-General U Bo Win, and K 100,000 for the school and uniforms worth K 30,000 for teachers to Headmistress Daw Hta Hta May.

Later, the Secretary-1 inspected the School.

During his meeting with teachers at the schools, the Secretary-l told them that modern school buildings appeared because of generous donation of construction companies and pointed out the duty of teachers to nurture their pupils to become outstanding persons who will serve national interest.

He also spoke of the need for teachers to train their pupils to possess patriotism, Union spirit and conviction to preserve and promote national culture, observe discipline and keep self-cleanliness.

(2) Mingaladon Industrial Park emerges as forerunner project

YANGON, 21 Feb - A ceremony to open Mingaladon Industrial Park was held at the corner of No 3 Highway and Khayebin Road in Mingaladon Township this morning.

Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt formally unveiled the signboard of Mingaladon Industrial Park.

Present also were member of the State Peace and Development Council Commander Maj-Gen Khin Maung Than, ministers, deputy ministers, officials of the Office of the State Peace and Development Council, Chairman of Mingaladon Industrial Park Co Ltd U Win Myint and party, Ambassador of Japan Mr Yoichi Yamaguchi and managing director and members of board of directors of Mitsui Co Ltd and guests.

(3) Royal Mingaladon Golf & Country Club opens

YANGON, 21 Feb - Royal Mingaladon Golf and Country Club was opened at the corner of No 3 Highway and Khayaybin Road, in the compound of Mingaladon Garden City Project, today.

It was attended by Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt, member of the State Peace and Development Council Commander Maj-Gen Khin Maung Than, ministers, deputy ministers, officials of the Office of the State Peace and Development Council, departmental heads, Chairman U Khin Shwe and directors of SWI Enterprise Co Ltd, personnel and guests.

Minister for Construction Maj-Gen Saw Tun, Chairman U Khin Shwe and Managing Director Mr Teo Yoew Khoon formally opened Royal Mingaladon Golf and Country Club.

Later, the Secretary-1, ministers, deputy ministers and guests inspected the showroom.

The Secretary-1 later signed in the visitors book.

Afterwards, the Secretary-1 and party inspected modern golf course and modern single-unit housing under construction at Mingaladon Garden City Project.

(4) Minister oversees installation of transformers

YANGON, 21 Feb - Minister for Electric Power Maj-Gen Tin Htut, Chief Engineer of Myanma Electric Power Enterprise U Yan Naing and officials, inspected installation of power line at Kyibwayay Ward in Thingangyun Township this morning.

He also met ward authorities and ward elders, and gave instructions on proper use of Dower and safety of power facilities.

The minister and party later inspected installation of new transformers in Ward-42 in Dagon Myothit (North).

He met service personnel and ward authorities, and gave instructions.

He attended to their requirements.

The minister and party met township and ward authorities, ward elders, local residents in Shwepaukkan Myothit, and elaborated on power supply by MEPE in the township.

He gave instructions on installation of meters and power lines in the township.

The minister and party also inspected changing of power lines and installation of a new transformer near Theikpan Market, Hsin Min Street, Ahlon Township and attended to the requirements.

(5) Minister visits factories in Thanlyin

YANGON, 21 Feb - Minister for Industry-1 U Aung Thaung, accompanied by Managing Director of the Myanma Textile Industries and the Myanma General and Maintenance Industries U San Kyi and officials, visited Thanlyin Glassware Factory in Yangon South District this morning.

He assessed reports by officials, and attended to their requirements.

He gave instructions on promoting production and distribution of goods to meet the needs of the State and taking innovative measures.

Later, the minister and party inspected goods, and toured the factory.

The minister then inspected Sodium Silicate Factory, and gave instructions.

Afterwards, he proceeded to Thanlyin Garment Factory No 4.

He met the factory manager and employees, and gave instructions on promoting production and distribution of goods.

He later toured the factory.

Then, he went to Garment Factory No 5, and inspected the factory.

The minister and party proceeded to Thilawa Dam.

The minister observed a scale model of the dam, and inspected Thilawa Dam.

Thilawa Dam was constructed by the Ministry of Industry-1 with the aim of supplying drinking-water to factories and staff quarters under the ministry.

The minister and party also visited Packaging Factory No 2, and met employees.

(6) Minister for Sports inspects SPEI

YANGON, 21 Feb - Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee Minister for Sports Brig-Gen Sein Win and Minister for Education U Than Aung, accompanied by Deputy Minister for Education Brig-Gen Soe Win Maung, Director-General Col Hla Myint Kyaw of Sports and Physical Education Department, Officer on Special Duty of the ministry Col Thaung Htaik, Adviser Col Ngo Ciin Pau and officials, arrived at Sports and Education Combined Training School in Kyaikkasan of Sports and Physical Education Institute of the ministry at 8 am today.

They inspected three-storey building hostel for trainees, training hall for judo, weight-lifting, boxing and thaing and school buildings.

The minister and party looked into finishing touches of the gymnasium of the institute, test for sports quality of courses of the Sports and Education Combined Training School and conducting research.

Then, the minister gave instructions to the officials.

(7) Artistes to entertain Tatmadawmen building road in Kengtung area

YANGON, 21 Feb - Thirty six artistes left here for Kengtung by special Tatmadaw flight this morning to entertain Tatmadawmen building Kengtung-Tachilek-Mongphyat Road and local people.

The group of artistes was led by Maj Kyaw Soe Lin of Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare and Deputy Director U Thwin Win of Office of the State Peace and Development Council.

They were seen off at the Yangon International Airport by Col Khin Aung Myint of Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare and officials of Directorate of Defence Services Intelligence.

The troupe includes Accordion Ohn Kyaw, Hinthada U Myint Ngwe, U Nay Win, Za Ni Maung and Gangawdaw Myo Aung, Khaing Htoo, Tu Tu, Aung Yin, J Nyi Nyi, Kyaitalon, Sein Moh Moh and Thet Ngon Phu.

(8) Commander inspects 2000-ton Sugar Mill Project in Myohla

YANGON, 21 Feb - Chairman of Bago Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Southern Command Brig-Gen Tin Aye, accompanied by staff officers, inspected 2000-ton Sugar Mill Project in Myohla on 20 February.

He heard reports on building of the mill and reclamation of fallow and virgin land for extension of sugarcane plantations by officials.

The commander told officials to reclaim fallow and virgin land for extension of sugarcane plantations to ensure sufficient raw materials for the factory.

He then proceeded to Swa Creek Regulating Dam and met township authorities and officials of Irrigation Department there.

Later on, the commander arrived at Yedashay Sugar Mill and inspected productivity of the mill.

(9) Officials meet Sayadaws, laymen of No 2/98 and 3/98 Bodh Gaya missions

YANGON, 21 Feb - Director-General of Religious Affairs Department U Arnt Maung explained trips to Sayadaws and laymen of 190 2/98 and 3/98 Bodh Gaya Missions at the Ministry of Religious Affairs this morning. The missions will leave for India, Nepal, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Sri Lanka on 22 February.

General Secretary of Myanmar Bodh Gaya Missionary Association reported on trips to Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Cambodia and China arranged by Paradesi Sangha Nayaka Committee in India.

(10) YIT announces candidates admitted to post-graduate courses

YANGON, 21 Feb - Yangon Institute of Technology today announced the list of candidates admitted to post-graduate courses in Biotechnology, Engineering Geology, Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Physics (Electronics), Engineering Chemistry and Nuclear Technology.
