- At the invitation of Chairman of the Work Committee for Development of Border Areas and National Races Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council General Khin Nyunt, 57 Kokant, Wa, Shan, Palaung, Leshaw and Kachin national races from Shan State (North) and 65 Shan and Paaing national races from Kengton region Shan State (South), totalling 122, together with Deputy Director of the Progress of Border Areas and National Races Department Maj Zaw Win Aung, as their second day tour, visited and viewed the Union National Races Village in Thanlyin Township this morning.

- A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit and Yangon Special Anti-drug Squad, acting on information, searched a taxi with number plates kha kha/1128 at Ward 15 in Hline Township and seized 2.07 kilos of marijuana form passengers Hla Soe and Ma Myint Khin on 7 January 2002.
