YANGON, 26 Jan.- On the occasion of the 53rd Anniversary of the Republic Day of India which falls on  26 January 2002, Senior General Than Shwe, Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council  of  the Union of Myanmar, has sent messages of felicitations to His Excellency Shri Kocheril Raman   Narayanan, President of the Republic of India and to His Excellency Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee, Prime   Minister of the Republic of India.

YANGON, 26 Jan.- On the occasion of the 53rd Anniversary of the Republic Day of India which falls on  26 January 2002, General Maung Aye, Vice-Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of  the Union of Myanmar, has sent a message of felicitations to His Excellency Shri Krishan Kant,  Vice-President of the Republic of India.


(3) Inauguration of Panhlaing Housing Estate adds another modern infrastructure to Yangon

YANGON, 25 Jan.- Panhlaing Housing Estate in Sangyoung  Township, Yangon, was inaugurated this morning, attended  by Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council  Lt-Gen. Khin Nyunt. It was jointly built by Department of  Human Settlement and Housing Development of the Ministry  of Construction and Shwe Thanlwin Construction Company  on mutual interests.

The estate includes one three-storey duplex row house and  three three-storey quadruple row houses comprising 42  apartments, each measuring 1,222 square-feet and housing an altar room, a visiting room, a dining  room, a kitchen and three bedrooms. Thirty-eight units of duplexes comprising 1,300, 1,500, 1,600,  1,900 and 2,500 square-feet apartments have been built. Infrastructures of the estate include a  12,000-gallon tank and one 24,000-gallon ground tank and one eight-inch tube-well. Construction of  the remaining buildings, separate houses, shop houses and 10 units of duplexes each measuring 3,500  square-feet, will begin in April 2002. Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Construction Maj-Gen.  Saw Tun said the State Peace and Development Council is striving from all sectors with greater  momentum for emergence of a modern and developed nation.

Public Works of the ministry has been building bridges large and small and new roads and repairing the  existing ones with the aim of helping to strengthen national solidarity. In accord with the guidance of the  Head of State, the DHSHD in cooperation with the private sector has been implementing the project to  enable Yangon to have characteristics of a modern city, regional development projects, modern housing  projects to ensure a comfortable life for the people, projects to relocate people from huts to high-rise  buildings, projects to develop the slums into modern housing estates and industrial zone projects. A  management committee was formed with the participation of the home owners to maintain the estate. A  trust fund K 20 million, in which the DHSHD contributed K 5 million and Shwe Thanlwin Company, K  15 million, was set up for the committee. Chairman of the company U Kyaw Win said the company is  using its profits to extend business and to provide cash towards the religious and public well-being tasks.

It is concentrating its efforts on ensuring customer  satisfaction. Managing Director U Moe Kyaw Thu also gave  a speech. Also present at the ceremony were ministers, the  Yangon mayor, deputy ministers, officials of the State Peace  and Development Council Office, departmental personnel,  members of Union Solidarity and Development Association,  Red Cross, Auxiliary Fire Brigade and Maternal and Child Welfare Association, teachers, students and others. Minister  Maj-Gen. Saw Tun and patrons of the company U Thein Win  and Daw Ni formally opened the estate. Director-General of  DHSHD U Arnt Kyaw presented K 5 million to the trust fund of the estate management committee and  U Moe Kyaw Tun, K 15 million. U Kyaw Win presented commemorative gifts to Secretary-1 Lt-Gen.  Khin Nyunt and Minister Maj-Gen. Saw Tun. The Secretary-1 inspected the scale model of the  Panhlaing Housing Estate project. At his meeting with members of the management committee, the  Secretary-1 said the project is included in the government's endeavours to further modernize Yangon  and to uplift the lifestyle of the
Yangonites. The residents have to collectively pay the sanitation and  security cost of the estate. The
company and the DHSHD contributed K 20 million towards the funds of  the management committee to ease the burden of the residents. He then inspected the estate.

Cash and kind donated to Defence Services Hospital and Boxing Committee

YANGON, 25 Jan.- The Ayeyamye Companies Group donated  a 250-kva generator, a water tank tower and a water pump  worth K 25 million to Defence Services Obstetric,  Gynaecological and Paediatric Hospital (300-bed) and K 5  million to the fund of Defence Services Boxing Committee at  the hospital in Mingaladon Township this morning.

Present were Member of the State Peace and Development  Council Chairman of Defence Services Sports and Physical  Education Management Committee Adjutant-General  Maj-Gen. Thein Sein, Chief of Staff (Navy) Rear- Admiral Soe Thein, Chief of Staff (Air) Col Myat  Hein, Vice-Adjutant-General Brig-Gen. Maung Nyo, Director of Medical Services Brig-Gen. Mya Thein  Han, senior military officers, the commandant of the hospital, officials, Chairman of the Ayeyamye  Companies Group U Thet Oo and members of the Board of Directors and guests. Chairman U Thet Oo  and Commandant of the hospital Head of the Obstetric and Gynaecological Division of Defence  Services Institute of Medicine Professor Col Tun Yee formally opened the water tower, the water pump  and the generator.

Then, the commandant explained facts about the donation. Afterwards, Chairman U Thet Oo explained  the purpose of the donation and presented the donation to the commandant, documents related to the  donation to Director Brig-Gen. Mya Thein Han and K 5 million to the Vice-Adjutant-General. Next, the  commandant spoke words of thanks and the ceremony came to an end.

Maj-Gen. Tin Aye inspects Vegetable and Poultry Farming Zone

YANGON, 25 Jan.- Member of the State Peace and  Development Council Maj-Gen. Tin Aye of the Ministry of  Defence, accompanied by Chairman of Yangon Division  Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon  Command Brig-Gen. Myint Swe, Commander of Phugyi  Station Brig-Gen. Saw Hla Min and departmental officials,  this morning inspected Yangon Division Vegetable and  Poultry Farming Special Zone of Yangon Division Peace and  Development Council near Nyaunghnapin Village, Hmawby  Township, Yangon North District. Maj-Gen. Tin Aye and  party arrived at Hmawby Hsan Hall of the Vegetable and Poultry Farming Special Zone No 1.

At the briefing hall, Manager of the Division Myanma Agriculture Service U San Maung reported on  tasks being carried out in the special zones; Commander Brig-Gen. Myint Swe on work being carried  out for agriculture and livestock breeding, and future tasks; Director of the Division Irrigation  Department U Kyaw Thein on supply of water from Ngamoeyeik Dam for the special zone and  Kalihtaw Dam under construction; division level departmental officials on work being done  department wise; and agriculture and livestock breeding national entrepreneurs on requirements.  Maj-Gen. Tin Aye spoke of the need for agriculture and livestock breeding entrepreneurs to carry out  tasks without any delay.

Machinery and other assistance will be provided for farmland reclamation, and agriculture and livestock  breeding tasks, he added. Afterwards, Maj-Gen. Tin Aye inspected progress of cultivation, and  breeding of 10,000 Shaver 579 chickens being undertaken by the Myanmar Standard Co. Ltd in the  special zone No 1, and attended to the needs. He next inspected progress of feeder canal to supply  water from Kalihtaw Diversion Dam for the special zone and gave instructions. After inspecting  vegetable plantations of OK agricultural group, he fulfilled the needs. Maj-Gen. Tin Aye left the special  zone at 11.30 am.

Minister receives Malaysian Ambassador

YANGON, 25 Jan.- Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Maj-Gen. Nyunt Tin received Ambassador of  Malaysia Mr Dato' Muhammad Bin Noh at his office yesterday afternoon. They discussed matters  related to promotion of bilateral technological cooperation in agricultural sector. Present were heads of  offices concerned and departmental officials under the ministry.


(5)  Minister receives FAO Resident Representative

YANGON, 25 Jan.- Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Maj-Gen. Nyunt Tin received Resident
Representative of UN FAO Mr Bhaskar Barua at his office this afternoon. They discussed matters  related to agriculture sector development, and providing assistance to technical cooperation by FAO in  production of beans and pulses in Myanmar. Also present were heads of departments under the ministry  and officials.

Minister receives Ambassador

YANGON, 25 Jan.- Minister for Culture U Tin Winn received Ambassador of Bhutan Mr C Dorji at his  office this afternoon. Also present were Deputy Minister U Soe Nyunt, Director of the Department of  Cultural Institute Daw Nandar Hmon and officials.

Minister inspects construction of dams in Bago Division

YANGON, 25 Jan.- Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Maj-Gen. Nyint Tin inspected construction of  Phyu Creek Dam in Phyu Township, Bago Division (East) on 23 January. Accompanied by the  director-general of Irrigation Department and directors, the minister arrived at the construction site of  the dam. Director of Construction-5 U Maung Maung Tin reported to him on availablity of irrigation  water, rural development, 32-megawatt hydero-electric power plant, feasibility study for dam  construction and the chosen site for constructing the dam.

Then, the minister discussed and co-ordinated matters with Director-General U Kyaw San Win and  engineers. Afterwards, the minister inspected samples of soil and gravel at the construction site and
geographical conditions. He also discussed with technicians matters on constructing the tunnel. In the  evening, the minister and party inspected progress of the construction of Alaini Creek Dam near  Kyankhun village in Bago Township. At the briefing hall, Yangon Division Irrigation Department
Director U Kyaw Thein reported to him on construction of earthen embankment which is 5,700 feet  long and 52 feet high; construction of outlet conduit and connecting the dam with Lagoonpyin Dam  through a canal. The minister fulfilled the requirements and stressed timely completion of the project.


(6) Construction of 12,000-ton dockyard in progress

YANGON, 25 Jan.- Minister for Transport Maj-Gen. Hla Myint  Swe, accompanied by Deputy Minister Brig-Gen. Kyaw  Myint and officials, arrived at the construction site of  12,000-ton dry dockyard of the Myanma Shipyards this  morning. The minister and party inspected pile driving and  concrete laying for constructing the sluice gate and dock  chamber. Managing Director U Percy Maung Maung of the  Myanma Shipyards and technicians of Shandong Agricultural,  Industry & Commerce Group Corporation reported progress  of work with the aid of maps and charts.

Afterwards, the minister inspected construction of dolphins for the temporary harbouring of ships and   left instructions for completion of the dockyard earlier than the targeted period meeting the set  standards.  The shipyard is being constructed by Shandong Agricultural, Industry & Commerce Group  Corporation  of the People's Republic of China and Myanma Shipyards. The project commenced with  pile-driving on 2  February 2001. The Shipyard will be 168 metres long, 28 metres wide and 9 metres  deep and facilitated  with a sluice gate, water pumps, air-compressors, 25-ton crane, electric power  supply system, etc. On  completion, sea-going vessels with 13,500-ton DWT and the length of 157  metres can be docked there.

L&F Minister inspects quality control and research laboratory

YANGON, 25 Jan.- Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Brig-Gen. Maung Maung Thein, accompanied  by  Deputy Minister for Progress of Border Areas and National Races and Development Affairs U Kyaw   Tin and officials, inspected the quality control and research laboratories of the Fisheries Department on   Shukhintha Street, Thakayta Township, this morning. The minister arrived at Thakayta Shrimp Fry  Production Centre of the FD and inspected feedstuff for the shrimp fries, breeding of sea prawns, salted   water storage pond and shrimp fry breeding unit Nos 1, 2, 3 and 4. The minister was conducted round  the  centre by Assistant Director U Khin Maung Soe of FD and officials. Then, the minister discussed  matters  related to full capacity production, and production of healthy shrimp fries.

Minister inspects departmental works in Ayeyawady Division

YANGON, 25 Jan.- Minister for Information Maj-Gen. Kyi  Aung inspected departmental works in Ayeyawady Division  yesterday afternoon. Accompanied by officials, the minister  arrived at the TV relay station in Kyaunggon where  they were welcomed by Station Manager U Soe Moe Naing  and staff. Chief Engineer U Tin Wan of MRTV and the  station manager reported to him on the salient points of the  station.

The minister then inspected the station and gave necessary  instructions. At 9.45 p.m., the minister
together with Deputy Commander of South-West Command  Brig-Gen. Tint Swe and Director-General of Information and Public Relations Department U Chit Naing  arrived at District IPRD in Pathein where  they were welcomed by officials of IPRDs of Pathein,  Kangyidaunt, Thabaung, Yekyi, Kyonpyaw,  Kyaung-gon and Ngapudaw Townships. Then, the minister  met with officials of IPRDs of the seven  townships and attended to the needs. This morning, the minister  and Chairman of Ayeya-wady Division  Peace and Development Council Commander of South-West  Command Brig-Gen. Htay Oo proceeded to  the TV relay station in Pathein. They were  welcomed there by Chief Engineer U Tin Wan, Station  Manager U Saw Yin Hmwe and officials. Chief  Engineer U Tin Wan reported to the commander and the  minister on progress of work in construction of  the station. The minister fulfilled the requirements and  inspected the station.

Next, the commander and the minister arrived at Shwepyidaw Cinema on Mingyi Road in Pathein  where  they were welcomed by Director U Thein Tun Aung of Motion Picture Enterprise and officials.  The  commander and the minister then inspected the cinema and gave necessary instructions to officials.   Afterwards, they arrived at Ayeyawady Library opened at City Hall in Pathein where they were  welcomed  by officials of the library. Officials conducted them round the library. The minister left Pathein  at 10 am  and arrived at the new building of IPRD in Kyaunggon at 11.30 am. He was welcomed there  by Deputy  Director-General of IPRD U Aung San and officials. Then, the minister inspected the new  building and  gave necessary instructions. Next, the minister and party also inspected IPRDs of  Pantanaw and Nyaungdon Townships and attended to the needs.


(7)  New building of Yankin Township MCWA opened

YANGON, 25 Jan.- The opening ceremony of the new building  of Yankin Township Maternal and Child Welfare Association  in Yangon East District was held at the building this morning.  Present were MMCWA Chairperson Professor Daw Kyu  Kyu Swe, Vice-Chairperson Dr Daw Khin Win Shwe, CEC  members, Patron of Yangon Division Maternal and Child  Welfare Supervisory Committee Daw Khin Thet Htay,  Chairman Dr Tin Maung Win and members, local authorities,  chairman of the township MCWA and members and  wellwishers. Prof. Daw Kyu Kyu Swe, Dr Daw Khin Win  Shwe and Daw Khin Thet Htay formally opened the building. Then, Prof. Daw Kyu Kyu Swe made a  speech.

Chairman of Yankin Township Peace and Development  Council U Pe Khin briefed those present on the building.  Chairman Dr Tin Maung Win spoke words of thanks.  Afterwards, Dr Daw Khin Win Shwe handed over school  equipment for Yankin Township Pre-primary School to Daw  Khin Thet Htay. Chairperson of the township MCWA Daw  Yu Yu Lwin presented commemorative pennants to the  chairperson and the vice-chairperson of MMCWA, the  patron and the chairman of the Supervisory Committee and  chairman of Yangon East District Peace and Development  Council. Later, the patron and the chairman of the Supervisory Committee accepted cash donation of K  300,000 by Managing Director Daw Mya Mya of ES4E Language and Training Centre, K 100,000  each by U Pyi Aung and Daw Yu Yu Lwin (Township MCWA Chairperson), U Myo Win and Daw Si  Si Shwe Yin (Township MCWA Vice-Chairperson), U Tint Swe and Daw Kaythi Kyi (Township  MCWA Joint-Secretary), member Daw Kyu Kyu Thin, Chairperson Daw Khin San Win of Ward-13  MCWA of Yankin, K 50,000 each by Chairperson Dr Daw Thi Thi Aye of the Defence Services  Record Office MCWA, Shwe Thanlwin Construction Co., Maj. Seminar on latest in Modern Crushing Technology

YANGON, 25 Jan.- Myanmar Tractors & Trading Co. Ltd and Metso Minerals jointly organised a one-day  seminar on latest trends in Modern Crushing Technology at the Sofital Palaza Hotel today. On the  occasion,  Mr Heinz Ludi, General Manager of Myanmar Tractors & Trading Co. Ltd gave an opening  address and explained about Myanmar Tractors Company and her contributions in the country's  development projects. Afterwards, Mr Patrick Ng, Marketing Manager of Metso Minerals, Asia Pacific  office introduced Metso Minerals. Then, Mr Peter Murray, Support Manager of Metso Minerals Asia  Pacific office made detailed presentations on Modern Crushing Technology. Every presentation  concluded with Q & A sessions. Government officials and private companies personnel also attended  the seminar and participated in the discussions.

Seminar on Information Technology concludes

YANGON, 25 Jan.- A Seminar on "Information Technology in Myanmar, Business Outlook and
Opportunities", provided by Sasakawa Southeast Asia Cooperation of Japan, jointly organized by  Bagan Cybertech of Myanmar and Information and Resource Centre, Singapore, continued for the third  and last day at the Swan Hotel on 26th Street, Mandalay this morning.

It was attended by officials of Mandalay Division/District/  Township and the Higher Education
Department, Joint  Secretary of e-National Task Force of Myanmar U Pyone  Maung Maung and member U Thaung Tin, members of  Mandalay Division Chambers of Commerce and Industry  and industrialists, members of the Union Solidarity and  Development Association, members of Myanmar Computer  Federation (Mandalay), computer technicians, officials of  Bagan Cybertech of Myanmar and Myanmar ICT Park, local  and foreign IT technicians, participants and guests.

Col Thein Swe of Bagan Cybertech and MICT Park presided over the ASEAN and Digital Divide
programme and joint Secretary U Pyone Maung Maung and U Thaung Tin presented on "Bridging the  Digital Divide in Myanmar" and "ICT Park and Development Strategy" respectively. Then, officials  replied to the queries raised by the attendants. The symposium came to a close with the concluding  speech by Col Thein Swe.

Myanmar Dental Conference, FDI-MDA meeting conclude

YANGON, 25 Jan.- The 22nd Myanmar Dental Conference and the third joint meeting of World Dental  Federation (FDI) and Myanmar Dental Association (MDA) continued at Traders Hotel on Sule Pagoda  Road here for the third and final day this morning. Present on the occasion were the Chairman of Dental  and Oral Council, the Rectors of Institute of Dental Medicine (Yangon) and Institute of Dental Medicine  (Mandalay), the Chairman of Myanmar Dental Association, executives, and members, dental and oral  physicians from abroad, and member dental surgeons.

Dr Kyaw Sein presided over the session at which Dr Aung Kyaw Oo presented paper on Periodontal  condition of NIDDM patients, Dr Hla Myint Tun on ART-based Activities for Support of the Primary  Oral Care Projects and the Private Sector, Dr May May Kyaing on Profile of Dental profession in  Myanmar, and Dr Saw Tun Aung on Study on Tooth Brushing practice in Myanmar. Then, Professor  Dr Than Nyunt chaired the session at which Dr Htay Htay Yi presented paper on Malignant  Myoepithelioma and Dr Win Naing on Mikulicz's Syndrome. Next, Dr Pwint Phu presented gifts and  certificates of honour to Dr Shwe Toe and Dr Khin Swe Aye who presented educative wall posters.  Then, Professor Dr Htay Aung presided over the session at which Dr Myat Lay Ko presented paper on  Habitual Chewing side of the dental students, Dr Thein Kyu on Maximum Biting Force Evaluation for  Complete Denture Patients, and Dr Than Swe on Simultaneous Measurement of Obturator Prosthesis  Mobility and Mandibular Movement that brought the morning session to an end. Chairman of MDA  Professor Dr Ba Myint presided over the afternoon session at which a general round of discussions took  place. In response
to the reports presented by those present and dental surgeons, Chairman of MDOC  Professor Dr Paing Soe, Chairman of MDA Professor Dr Ba Myint and executives, and officials of  departments under the Ministry of Health fulfilled the requirements.


(8) Agreement signed for joint fishing

YANGON, 25 Jan.- The signing ceremony for joint fishing of Myanmar Fisheries International Joint
Venture  Ltd and TTC Fishery (2001) Partnership Ltd was held this afternoon at MiCasa Hotel in Yankin  Township here. It was attended by Deputy Minister for Livestock & Fisheries U Aung Thein, officials  and guests. Vice-Chairman and CEO of Myanmar Fisheries International Joint Venture Ltd Mr Jean  Pichon and President and CEO of TTC Fishery (2001) Partnership Ltd Mr Somchai Kin Kaew signed  the agreement.

Vietnamese delegation tours Mandalay, Bagan-NyaungU

YANGON, 25 Jan.- At the invitation of the Union Solidarity and Development Association, the visiting  seven-member goodwill delegation from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, led by Mr Hoang Thinh,  together with Yangon Division USDA Executive Committee member U Tin Maung Win and Vietnamese  embassy officials, left here for Mandalay by air on 22 January morning and arrived at Mandalay  International Airport at 8 am. The delegation was welcomed at the airport by Mandalay Division USDA  Secretary U Tin Maung Oo and executives, district/township USDA secretaries and executives and  members.

The goodwill delegation then visited Mahamuni Image, Myanansankyaw Golden Palace, Shwe Kyaung  and Mandalay Hill. The delegation was entertained to a dinner by Secretary U Tin Maung Oo. On 23  January morning, the delegation left there for Heho by air. The delegation was welcomed at the Heho  Airport by Shan State (South) USDA Secretary U Nyan Linn and executives, district/township USDA  secretaries, executives and members. Then, the delegation, together with officials of Shan State (South)  USDA, paid a visit to Inlay PhaungdawU Pagoda. Secretary U Nyan Linn hosted a dinner in honour of  the delegation.

The goodwill delegation left Heho for Yangon by air on 24 January and arrived back at Yangon
International Airport in the evening. The goodwill delegation visited Shwedagon Pagoda this morning  and paid obeisance to the pagoda. The delegation was conducted round the pagoda by members of the  pagoda Board of Trustees and officials. Then, the delegation arrived at the National Museum on Pyay  Road, where they were conducted round the museum by the officials. Later, the delegation arrived at  Myanma Gems Emporium on Kaba Aye Pagoda Road and viewed round the emporium.

YANGON, 25 Jan.- The visiting PRC goodwill delegation led by Mr Cai Wu of CAFIU accompanied by   USDA CEC member Brig-Gen. Khin Maung, arrived at Mandalay International Airport by air yesterday   morning. They were welcomed there by Secretary U Tin Maung Oo and members of Mandalay  Division  USDA. Then, they proceeded to PyinOoLwin and visited Kandawgyi Gardens. Then, they  met District  and Township USDA members at the PyinOoLwin District USDA office. In the afternoon,  Mr Cai Wu  went to the office of Mandalay Division USDA and greeted the members . The goodwill  delegation  members and members of USDA cordially exchanged views. Later, the delegation members  visited  Mandalay Hill.


(9)  Cruise liner arrives

YANGON, 25 Jan.- Under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, the Ministry of
Transport and the Insight Myanmar Tourism Co. Ltd, the cruise liner Seabourn Spirit carrying 134
tourists arrived at the Nanthida Jetty this afternoon. They were welcomed there by responsible officials  of the ministries and the company. The tourists visited Yangon today. They are visiting Yangon and  Bagan  dividing into two groups on 26 January. On 27 January morning, they will tour Yangon and then  will leave here in the afternoon.

Drug trafficker sentenced

YANGON, 25 Jan.- A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and Taunggyi
Special  Anti Drug Squad, acting on a tip-off, searched the house of Daw Khite Laung in Sailian Ward,  Monghsu and seized 299 gm of heroin on 29 May 2001. Loihsaunghtauk Police Station filed a law  suitagainst Daw Khite Laung, 50, daughter of U Aik Tun, under Section 15/19 (A) of Narcotic Drugs  and Psychotropic Substances Law. The Loilem District Court handed down a sentence of five years'  imprisonment under Section 15 and 25 years' imprisonment under Section 19 (A) on her to serve  separately on 6 December 2001.
 


INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADMISSION

International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University will open in June for 2002 academic year. The first semester for academic year 2002 begins in June and ends in October. The second semester begin on  1st December and ends in March 2003. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

Foreign monks, nuns and laymen who apply for one-year Diploma course must have passed at least the  Matriculation or  equivalent. For the layman who is Myanmar citizen must have their first degree, B.A. or  B.Sc. Myanmar monks and nuns who apply for  Diploma course must not be younger than 18 and not  older than 45. Age limit for students who apply for one-year Diploma course only will be given consideration. The Selection Board reserves the right to decide whether a particular applicant has met the  requirements or not.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

Foreign candidates are required to sit for the written examination at the Embassy of Myanmar in country  of their residence, or at the  examination centre in Yangon, Myanmar. There will be two question papers,  namely, one on English proficiency and the other on general Knowledge relevant to Buddhism. The  closing date for submitting application form for Diploma course is 15th December 2001.  The written  entrance examination for Diploma course will be held on 8th January 2002. A candidate  who passes the  written examination must sit  for personal interview at the Embassy of Myanmar in the country of their  residence before joining the University. The admission policy of the University is  liberal and flexible  enough to get the qualified students for Diploma course. Priority will be givento foreign students.  The  students who joins the University is required to bring a proper medical certificate recently taken from any  recognized authority showing physical and mental fitness.

VISA & OTHER EXPENSES

Once a foreign student is admitted to the Diploma course, the Ministry of Religious Affairs will take care  of visa application and its extension. Tuition, boarding  and messing for foreign students will be provided  free by the University. Travelling expenses for joining the University will not be borne by the University.
