This year's slogan is "Mental Health: Stop Exclusion; Dare to Care". In a landmark WHO study in 27 developing and developed countries, no population has been found to be free of schizophrenia. In some places of the world, mental illnesses are thought to be caused by evil spirits. There are many other misconceptions about mental illness. Besides people are reluctant to come for treatment because of fear of stigmatization and lack of knowledge about mental illness. We also like to emphasize the importance of managing mental health at the individual and the community level.
