(1) Vice-President of PRC Mr Hu Jintao and Madame Liu Yongqing and  goodwill delegation conclude  visit

YANGON 18 July-Vice-President of the People's Republic of China Mr Hu Jintao  and Madame Liu Yongqing and goodwill delegation left here for home by special  flight this evening after conclusion of  their friendly visit to Myanmar.

At the invitation of Vice-Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council  General Maung Aye, Vice-President of PRC Mr Hu Jintao and Madame and party  visited Myanmar from 16 to 18 July.

Before their departure, General Maung Aye and wife Daw Mya Mya San greeted  Vice-President of PRC Mr Hu Jintao and Madame Liu Yongqing and delegation in  the special lounge at Yangon International
Airport at 3.45 pm.

General Maung Aye presented a friendship gift to Vice-President of PRC Mr Hu  Jintao. Also present on the occasion together with General Maung Aye and Daw  Mya Mya San were Secretary-l of the State
Peace and Development Council  Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt and wife, Secretary-2 Lt-Gen Tin Oo and wife, Sesretary-3  Lt-Gen Win Myint and wife, Member of the State Peace and Development Council
Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Yangon  Command Maj-Gen Khin Maung Than, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for  Military Affairs Lt-Gen Tin Hla,
Minister for Foreign Affairs U Win Aung and  Minister for Science and Technology U Thaung. The guests were accompanied by  Ambassador of PRC Mr Liang Dong.

Vice-President of PRC Mr Hu Jintao and Madame Liu Yongqing and delegation  left here for home by special flight at 4.25 pm. They were seen off at the  airport by Vice-Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council General  Maung Aye and wife Daw Mya Mya San, Secretary-1 of the State Peace and  Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt and wife, Secretary-2 Lt-Gen Tin Oo and  wife, Secretary-3 Lt-Gen Win Myint and wife, Member of the State Peace and  Development Council Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council  Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Khin Maung Than and wife, Deputy Prime  Minister and Minister for Military Affairs Lt-Gen Tin Hla, Minister for  Foreign Affairs U Win Aung and wife, Minister for Science and Technology U  Thaung and wife, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Khin Maung Win,  Ambassador of PRC Mr Liang Dong and wife
and officials of the Embassy of PRC.


(2) Vice-President of PRC Mr Hu Jintao and Madame visit Mandalay

YANGON, 18 July-Vice-President of the People's Republic of China Mr Hu Jintao  and Madame Liu Yongqing and party, on their visit the Myanmar at the  invitation of Vice-Chairman of the State Peace
and Development Council  General Maung Aye, accompanied by Minister for Science and Technology U  Thaung-and wife Daw May Kyi Sein, Ambassador of PRC Mr Liang Dong and wife,  Director-General
of Protocol Department Thura U Aung Htet and wife and  officials, left here by special flight and arrived Mandalay at 10.10 am  today.

Visiting Vice-President Mr Hu Jintao and wife and party were welcomed by  member of the Slate Peace and Development Council Chairman of Mandalay  Division Peace and Development Council Commander
of Central Command Maj-Gen  Ye Myint and wife Dr Daw Tin Lin Myint, Mandalay Mayor Brig-Gen Yan Thein,  Deputy Commander Brig-Gen Nay Win and senior military offices and their  wives, division level departmental officials Consul-General Mr He Sijing of  Consulate-General of PRC in Mandalay and wife and officials, and officials of  Union Solidarity and Development Association and organizations concerned.

Two Myanmar girls and two Chinese girls presented bouquets to visiting  Vice-President Mr Hu Jintao and wife.

Visiting Vice-President Mr Hu Jintao and Madame Liu Yongqing and party took a  brief rest at the special lounge of Mandalay Airport.

Visiting Vice-President Mr Hu Jintao and Madame Liu Yongqing and party,  accompanied by Commander Maj-Gen Ye Myint and wife, proceeded to Mandalay  Hill where they were welcomed by
members of the Pagoda Board of Trustees.  They offered flowers and water to and paid obeisance to Hsutaungpyi Pagoda.  Then, visiting Vice-President Mr Hu Jintao and Madame Liu Yongqing and party
presented donations to officials for Buddha Image on Mandalay Hill and viewed  the scenery of Mandalay. Afterwards, they signed in the visitors' book. Then,  visiting Vice-President Mr Hu Jintao and Madame Liu Yongqing and party  arrived Myanansankyaw Shwenandaw where they were welcomed by Deputy Director  U Moe Kyaw Kyaw of Archaeology Department and officials.

At the-eastern archway of Myanansankyaw Shwenandaw, Deputy Director U Moe  Kyaw Kyaw reported on salient points of Myanansankyaw Shwenandaw to visiting  Vice-President Mr Hu Jintao
and Madame Liu Yongqing and party.

Then, Commander Maj-Gen Ye Myint and wife hosted luncheon in honour of  Vice-President Mr Hu Jintao and Madame Liu Yongqing and party at Nanmyo  Defence Services Guest House.

After the luncheon, the commander and wife presented gifts to visiting  Vice-President Mr Hu Jintao and wife and party and the guests in return  presented gifts to the commander and wife.

Later, visiting Vice-President Mr Hu Jintao and wife headed for Mandalay  Airport in a motorcade. At the Mingala Bridge of the Mandalay Palace they had  a documentary photo taken together with
Commander Maj-Gen Ye Myint and Minister U Thaung.

Then, visiting Vice-President Mr Hu Jintao and wife and party left Mandalay  by air for Yangon. Visiting Vice-President Mr Hu Jintao and wife and party  arrived Yangon this evening.

They were welcomed at Yangon International Airport by Minister for Foreign  Affairs U Win Aung and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the  PRC Embassy.


(3) Deputy Prime Minister receives entrepreneurs

YANGON, 18 July-Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Admiral Maung Maung Khin received  Chairman Dr O Quattrocchi and party of European Asian Technology & Investment  (EATI) at his office this afternoon.

Also present at the call were Managing Director Col Myint Oo of Myanma  Pharmaceutical Industries, Director-General Dr Wan Maung of Health Department  and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
the Union of Myanmar  Economic Holdings Ltd and the Government Office.


(4) Minister for Hotels and Tourism meets Japanese Ambassador

YANGON, 18 July-Minister for Hotels and Tourism Maj-Gen Saw Lwin met  Japanese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Shigeru Tsumori at his office at 1 pm  today. Also present were Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Aye Myint Kyu, the Director  General, the Managing Director and officials of the ministry.


(5) Minister meets Pakistani Charge d'Affaires

YANGON, 18 July - Minister for Health Maj-Gen Ket Sein met with Charge  d'Affaires ai of the Embassy of Pakistan in Yangon Mr Zaighamuddin Azam at  his office at 2 Pm today. Also present on the
occasion were officials of the  Ministry of Health.


(6) Minister for Labour meets Japanese Ambassador

YANGON, 18 July-Minister for Labour Maj-Gen Tin Ngwe met Japanese Ambassador  to Myanmar Mr Shigeru Tsumori at his office at l-lam today. Also present were  Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Win Sein and
departmental officials of the ministry.


(7) Minister for Health meets Chairman of Europe Continents

YANGON, 18 July-Minister for Health Maj-Gen Ket Sein met Chairman Mr J M  Beaujolin of Europe Continents, France at his office on Pyidaungsu Yeiktha  Road at 3 pm today. Also present at the call
were responsible officials of  the ministry.


(8) Minister for Culture meets Ambassador of Japan

YANGON, 18 July-Minister for Culture U Win Sein met Ambassador of Japan to  the Union of Myanmar Mr Shigeru Tsumori at 4 pm at his office today. They  cordially discussed matters on promotion of cultural exchange between the two  countries. Also present at the call were Deputy Minister U Soe Nyunt,  Director-General U Nyunt Han of Department of Archaeology, Acting  Director-General U Kyaw
Win of Fine Arts Department, Rector U Tin Soe of  University of Culture and officials.


(9) Minister for Cooperatives meets guests from ROK

YANGON, 18 July-Minister for Cooperatives U Aung San met Chairman Mr Bum-il  Kim of Canaan Farmers' School of the Republic of Korea and party together  with Ambassador Mr Chung Jung-gum at
his office on Bogyoke Aung San Street  this afternoon.

They cordially discussed preparations for opening Diploma Courses  co-sponsored by Ministry of Cooperatives and International Academy  Association of ROK. Also present at the call were directors-general, the  managing director and the adviser departments and enterprises under the  ministry and officials.


(10) Minister for F&R meets Ambassador of Japan

YANGON, 18 July-Minister for Finance and Revenue U Khin Maung Thein met  Ambassador of Japan to the Union of Myanmar Mr Shigeru Tsumori at 11.30 am at  his office today. Also present at the call
was Governor U Kyaw Kyaw Maung of  Central Bank of Myanmar.


(11) Extended Prawn Breeding Committee holds third meeting

YANGON, 18 July-Extended Prawn Breeding Committee held a meeting today at  Fisheries Department. Chairman of the Committee Minister at the Prime  Minister's Office Lt-Gen Tin Ngwe gave a speech.
Vice-Chairman Minister for  Livestock and Fisheries Brig-Gen Maung Maung Thein explained the work done  for breeding prawn in Rakhine State and Yangon Division and Joint-Secretary  Deputy Director-
General U Hla Win of FD on work to be done. Members of the  Committee took part in the discussions and Lt-Gen Tin Ngwe gave concluding  remarks.


(12) Arrangements made for conveying marble image to Min Dhamma Hillock

YANGON, 18 July-Arrangements are being made to convey marble image from  Sakyintaung in Madaya Township to Min Dhamma Hillock in Insein Township under  the supervision of Minister for Rail Transportation U Pan Aung. The minister,  engineers and technicians of Myanma Railways and Myanma Electric Power  Enterprise moved the marble image in Lying position to the route where Thonlutaukpa Yadana Shwephaungdawgyi (barge) is to be moored on 16 July.

Efforts are being made to lift the marble image onto Yadana Nanyinbyan under  the close supervision of the minister and technicians.


(13) Wheelchairs for disabled Tatmadaw members

YANGON, 1 8 July-Mr Koh Kim Seng of Marplan Pte Ltd of Singapore presented G5  wheelchairs for disabled Tatmadaw members this afternoon at the Office of  Ministers. Minister at the State Peace and
Development Council Chairman's  Office Brig-Gen Abel was present.

Also present were officials of Marplan Pte Ltd of Singapore and Directorate  of Medical Services. Director of Medical Services Brig-Gen Mya Thein Han  accepted the gifts.


(14) Deputy Minister inspects Bran Oil Mill of MAPT in Insein

YANGON, 18 July-Deputy Minister for Commerce Brig-Gen Kyaw Hsan, accompanied  by Managing Director U Min Hla Aung of Myanma Agricultural Produce Trading  arrived at No 03 Bran Oil Mill in
Insein Township, this evening. Officials  reported on transforming the mill as a refinery for edible coconut oil and  giving test runs. The deputy minister gave instructions on points to be  followed for successful construction of the refinery, striving for sooner  production of refined oil and taking fire prevention during test runs to the  officials. Then, he inspected construction of the refinery and gave additional instructions.


(15)Arrangements under way to operate Okkan Sugar Mill at full capacity

YANGON, 18 July - Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Maj-Gen Nyunt Tin  today inspected sugarcane plantation's in the surrounding areas of Okkan  Sugar Mill in Taikkyi Township and vegetable patches at Nyaung-hnitpin-gwin  in Hmawby Township in Yangon Division. Chairman of Yangon North District  Peace and Development Council Lt-Col San Matu, members of Yangon Division Agricultural Coordination Committee, township-level organizations and staff  were also present at the meeting. Minister Maj-Gen Nyunt Tin said the State  spent a large amount of money in constructing the Okkan Sugar Mill within a  year for ensuring regional development. Repair of machinery is under way to
run the mill at full capacity in the coming sugarcane harvesting season.  Sugarcane cultivation and purchase will be carried out region-wise this  Year.

The minister stressed the need to cultivate monsoon croup and winner croup as  projected and to distribute the fresh produce to tax- free markets in  enabling the people to buy them at reasonable prices.
He then inspected the  farms of Myanma Agriculture Service and Myanma Farms Enterprise.


(16) 42 Sagaing Township NLD members resign of own accord

YANGON, 18 July-Forty two members resigned from the National League for  Democracy of Sagaing Township, Sagaing Division.

Forty two members of Sagaing Township NLD, Sagaing Division, of their own  accord, resigned by sending letters of resignation to Sagaing Township  Multiparty Democracy General Election Sub-commission and the party concerned  on 4 February 2000 as they no longer wished to participate in party politics.
