The State Peace and Development Council has laid down and is implementing the political, economic and social objectives to reach the goal a new peaceful, pleasant, modern and developed nation.
At present, national peace and stability, the rule of law and national consolidation can be built firmly due to the correctness of the national objectives. Endeavours for emergence of a new Constitution which will assure national development, perpetuity and flourishing of disciplined democracy system has gained success a certain extent despite the perpetrations of internal and external destructive elements.
I urge the entire peasantry to take part in the respective sector for continued development of the national peace and the rule of law, strengthening of national consolidation and emergence of a new Constitution.
All the esteemed peasantry,
The State Peace and Development Council after practically assessing the objective conditions of the nation has laid down and is implementing the economic objectives. It is making arrangements for progress of agriculture based on water, soil, climate and human resources of the nation supporting other sectors of the economy for all-round national economic progress.
As is known by the peasantry various means are being applied in giving encouragement to extend crop cultivation, boost the yield and conduct year-round cultivation of crop6.
As the government is granting permission to national entrepreneurs to take part in extended crop cultivation on all land including virgin, vacant and fallow lands and wetlands, it is also providing quality strains, chemical fertilizers, farming techniques and farming equipment to boost crop production.
The government in addition to constructing major dams, reservoirs and embankments is also laying down and implementing agricultural projects such as damming of creeks and streams, building of river pumped-water stations and tapping of underground water in the entire nation. The government is making plans and rendering assistance in all sectors to ensure enough capital for the farmers to grow crops.
Thus, I would like to urge you to cultivate paddy, cotton, sugarcane and corn and beans and pulses which are designated the four main crops and kitchen crops such as chilli, onion and potato on all available land in accord with the local conditions to ensure surplus crop production, earn more foreign currency and render assistance to other economic sectors.
All the esteemed peasantry,
With a view to developing the socio-economic life of the entire people including peasants, consolidating of national unity and perpetuation of the nation, the Government is paving the roads linking towns and villages and Union highways. It is also building large and small bridges on these roads and highways spending a large amount of money. In making arrangements to bring about education, health and social progress on a national scale, the government is launching plans to render effective benefits not only to the rural areas where farmers are residing but also to the people of border areas to narrow the gap between towns and villages.
All the peasantry are emphatically urged to make efforts together; with the people to successfully realize the State's political, economic and social objectives for peace, stability, modernization and development of the nation, to ward off the dangers of internal and external destructive elements and to ensure rapid progress in the agriculture sector which is the main pillar of the nation and which directly concerns with them.
