(1) General Maung Aye inspects development of Cocogyun Township
 
YANGON, 18 Feb-Vice-Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) General Maung Aye inspected development of Cocogyun Township, Yangon Division, yesterday and today. Accompanied by Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo and party, the General left here for Cocogyun Island by air yesterday afternoon.

At the regional hall, the General and party heard reports on regional development and coconut-based products such as ropes made of coconut fiber and coconut-fiber charcoal presented by officials. At Sasana Mandaing Monastery, the General and party paid respects to Sayadaws led by Vice-Chairman of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Aung Myebonsan Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Panindabhivamsa. Offertories were also presented to the Sayadaws.  They then inspected the town. This morning, the General and party attended enshrinement, Shwehtidaw hoisting, Shwekya Thingan offering and consecration ceremony of Zinamarazein Pagoda in Cocogyun. The General and party arrived back here in the afternoon.
 
Secretary-2 Lt-Gen Tin Oo, accompanied by Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Khin Maung Than, Minister for Transport Maj-Gen Hla Myint Swe, ministers and officials, attended launching of a jetty in Cocogyun Township yesterday evening.
 
Deputy Chief Engineer (Civil) of Myanma Port Authority U Nyo Maung explained points of the bridge. U Nyo Maung and Chairman of Township Peace and Development Council U Tin Ohn formally opened the jetty. The Secretary-2 and party inspected the jetty. The jetty 1,193 feet long has the 60-foot wide approach structure. Section I of the jetty is 20 feet wide and section 2 ten feet wide. It was built at a cost of K 7.4 million.

Accompanied by Commander Maj-Gen Khin Maung Than and Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Brig-Gen Thura Myint Maung, the Secretary-2 looked into the requirements of members of the police force and families at Township Police Station.

At 9 pm, the Secretary-2 and party met with departmental personnel and members of USDA, Red Cross and Auxiliary Fire Brigade.

The Secretary-2 said they came to Cocogyun, a township in Yangon Division which is difficult of access, to attend to the needs in developing the region.

As the ring road of the island, town streets, the jetty, the guest house and office buildings have already been constructed in a systematic way, the town is changing and developing significantly.  Headmaster U Aye Lwin and Chairman of School Board of Trustees U Maung Win formally opened the centre.

Together,with Director General of No 3 Basic Education Department (Yangon City) Col Thein Aung, the headmaster and teachers, the Secretary-2 and party inspected the centre.Students presented local made handicrafts to the Secretary-2 and party.U Aye Lwin and U Maung Win explained efforts to open the centre.

The State Peace and development Council presented K 50,000 to the school, Panpawady Naval Region Command K 100,000, Yangon Division Peace and Development Council K 50,000, No 3 Basic Education Department (Yangon City) a TV and K 70,000, Yangon South District Peace and Development Council K 10,000 and Township Peace and Development Council K 10,000.

The Secretary-2 said the government in cooperation with parents and the public is making arrangements to open multimedia teaching centres at schools with the goodwill to enable students to get access to modern education.

Based on the assistance provided by the government, all should strive for systematic progress of the education sector. Commander Maj-Gen Khin Maung Than also gave a speech. Afterwards, the Secretary-2 and party visited patients at Township People s Hospital.


(2) General Maung Aye attends Shwehtidaw-Hoisting Ceremony of Zinamarazein Pagoda in Cocogyun

YANGON, 18 Feb - The enshrinement ceremony, the Shwehtidaw-hoisting ceremony, Shwekyathingan-offering ceremony and the consecration ceremony of Zinamarazein Pagoda were held at the pagoda in Cocogyun this morning.

Vice-Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) General Maung Aye hoisted the tiers of Shwehtidaw, Hngetmyatnadaw and Seinphudaw atop the pagoda.

Also present were Sayadaws and members of the Sangha led by Vice-Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Aung-myebonsan Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Panindabhivarnsa, Sayadaws of Sasanamandaing Kyaungtaik of Cocogyun, Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo, members of the State Peace and Development Council Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Vice-Admiral Nyunt Thein, Commander-in-Chief (Air) Lt-Gen Kyaw Than and Chairman of Cocogyun Township Peace and Development Council U Tin Ohn and departmental officials, the Tatmadawmen and families, teachers and students, members of the Union Solidarity and Development Association, Red Cross and Auxiliary Fire Brigade and local people of Cocogyun.

The ceremony commenced with three-time recitation of namo tassa, the blowing of conch shells and nine beats of drums and gongs.

The General and party and the congregation received the Nine Precepts from Aung-myebonsan Sayadaw Abhidhaja- Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Panindabhivamsa.

The upathakas presented flowers, water, threads and sand to the Sayadaws for use in the rites. Then, the Sayadaws and members of the Sangha recited parittas. Commander Maj-Gen Khin Maung Than explained about the construction of Zinamarazein Pagoda. The upathakas sprinkled paritta water and sand and tied paritta flowers and threads on the platform of the pagoda.

The General offered Seinphudaw and Padima Buddha Image to the Aung-myebonsan Sayadaw. Afterwards, the General offered alms to the Aung-myebonsan Sayadaw. The Secretary-2 offered Hngetmyatnadaw, the sacred objects for enshrinement and alms to the Sayadaws.

The Commander-in-Chief (Navy), the Commander-in-Chief (Air), the commander and the ministers offered the sacred objects for enshrinement, tiers of Shwehtidaw and alms to the Sayadaws. The Aung-myebonsan Sayadaw delivered a sermon.

The General and party and the congregation shared merits for the good deeds.

Engineer U Aung Kyaw Oo of Township Development Affairs Committee transferred the care of the pagoda to the well-wishers.  Adviser to the State Peace and Development Council U Arnt Maung dictated to the congregation the letter of supplication begging the celestial beings for forgiveness in case there are any insufficiency and mistakes in building the pagoda. Then, Seinphudaw, Hngetmyatnadaw and Zunlaybon, Hsatthaphu, tiers of Shwehtidaw and the sacred objects for enshrinement were conveyed clockwise the pagoda three times by the General, the Secretary-2 and party accompanied by those in celestial and regal processions, and then conveyed to the decorated cable carriage.

The General sprinkled scented water on the sacred objects for enshrinement and conveyed atop the pagoda with the decorated cable carriage. The sacred objects for enshrinement in the upper reliquary were relayed up to the pagoda.  At the auspicious time, Vice-Admiral Nyunt Thein, Lt-Gen Kyaw Than, Commander Maj-Gen Khin Maung Than and ministers put Buddha Images into the upper require. Then, the remaining sacred objects were put into the upper reliquary.

After the upper reliquary was closed, the Sayadaws and members of the Sangha recited gathas.  Afterwards, the General and party sprinkled scented water on tiers of Shwehtidaw, Hsatthaphu, Zunlaybon, Hngetmyatnadaw, Seinphudaw, Shwethingandaw and the religious flag and conveyed them atop the pagoda with the decorated cable carriage of Teinkya Shwehtidaw hoisting group.

The Commander-in-Chief (Navy), the Commander-in-Chief (Air), the commander and the ministers placed tiers of Shwehtidaw, Hngetmyatnadaw and Seinphudaw atop the pagoda and offered Shwekyathingan.

Next, the Sayadaw and members of the Sangha consecrated the pagoda. Then, merits gained for the good deeds were shared among one and all. The ceremony came to a close with three-time recitation of Buddha sasanam ciram titthatu.

The General and party and well-wishers offered alms to the Sayadaws and members of the Sangha. The General and party performed the ritual of golden and silver showers to mark the successful completion of the ceremony. The General and party also offered soon to the Sayadaws and members of the Sangha at Tharthanamandaing Kyaungtaik.


(3) Secretary-1 attends cornerstone laying, merit-sharing,  donation ceremony for Ayechan Aungmye Ngwe Kyaungdawgyi in Natchaung Ward, Tamway Township

YANGON, 18 Feb-Secretary-l of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt attended the cornerstone laying ceremony, the merit sharing ceremony and the second donation ceremony for Ayechan Aungmye Ngwe Kyaungdawgyi at the designated place of the Kyaungdawgyi Project in Natchaung Ward, Tamway Township, this morning.

Also present on the occasion were Secretary of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Bhaddanta Kumara and member Sayadaws, Minister for Hotels and Tourism Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, Minister for Communications; Posts and Telegraphs Brig Gen Win Tin and departmenta1 officials, the chairman of Kyaungdaw construction committee and members, Wellwishers and guests.

Vice-Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Agga Maha Pandita Mandalay Masoeyein Taikthit Sayadaw Bhaddanta Sirindabhivamsa administered the Five Precepts.

Then, members of the Sangha recited the Parittas. Afterwards, the Secretary-1, ministers, deputy ministers and well-wishers donated provisions to the Sayadaws. Today s donations for construction of the Kyawdawgyi included K 8,173,382 donated by Deputy Attorney General U Khin Maung Aye, on behalf of well-wishers from Mandalay, Magway and Bago Divisions and Shan State, K 2.5 million by U Albert Linn-Daw Hmwe Hmwe of USA in memory of father U Mya, K 1 million by U U Than Htut-Daw Wa Wa Win Shwe, K 1 million by

Ms Lillian SL Kong of Transpacific Associates Co Ltd under the patronage of U Han Sein -Daw Sein Kyi Aye, K I million by U Myint Lin-Daw Yin Moe, K 300,000 by Mandalay Division Law Officer U Han Shein Thiha Thudhamma Theingi Daw Mya May Lay and K 8,124,289 by the committee for the building of Kyaungdawgyi.

The Secretary-l accepted the donations and presented certificates of honour to the Wellwishers. Then, Secretary of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga MahaSaddhamma Jotika Bhaddanta Kumara delivered a sermon, followed by sharing of merits. Next, the Secretary-l, ministers, deputy ministers and the vice-mayor took designated places.

The Secretary-l put the gems casket into the foundation. At the auspicious time, the Secretary- 1, Ministers Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, Brig-Gen Win Tin and U Than Aung, Deputy Ministers Brig-Gen Khin Maung and Brig- Gen Myint Thein and Vice-Mayor Col Maung Pa simultaneously laid the cornerstones at the designated places. Then, the Secretary-l put the stone plaque and sprinkled scented water on the germs casket, the cornerstones and the stone plaque.

Later, the Secretary-l performed the rituals of golden and silver showers to mark successful completion of the ceremonies.


(4) Secretary-1 attends initial ceremony of construction  of Dhammayon of Maha Htoopayon Pagoda in Thonze

YANGON, 18 Feb?Secretary-l of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt, accompanied by ministers, deputy ministers, the Chief of Staff (Air), officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office, department heads and officials, left here by helicopter and arrived at Thonze, Thayawady District, Bago Division, this morning.

They were welcomed there by member of the State Peace and Development Council Chairman of Bago Division Peace and Development Council Commander Maj-Gen Tin Aye, military officers and civilian officials, members of the Union Solidarity and Development Association and social and religious associations and local people.

The Secretary- 1 and party paid homage to Maha Htoopayon Pagoda in Thonze. The Secretary-l attended the initial ceremony of construction of Dhammayon of Maha Htoopayon Pagoda at the designated site in the precincts of the pagoda and the ceremony of offering provisions to four Kyaungtaiks and setting up a trust fund at Myatswedaw Dhammayon of Maha Htoopayon Sarthintaik
Also present were Sayadaws and members of the Sangha led by State Ovadacariya Shwekyin Sasanabaing Presiding Sayadaw of Nyaungshwe Pariyatti Sarthintaik Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhama Jotika Bhaddanta Vimalabhivamsa, Commander Maj-Gen Tin Aye, the ministers, senior military officers, officials of the State Peace and Development Council Office,heads of departments, division, district and township authorities, departmental personnel, members of USDA and social and religious associations, Thiha Thudama Manizotadara U Khin Myint and Daw Than Than Win and family of Yadanawin (Thonze) Company and local people.

The initial ceremony of construction of Dhammayon of Maha Htoopayon Pagoda was held at the designated place in the precincts of the pagoda.

The ceremony came to an end with the three-time recitation of Buddha sasanam ciram titthatu. Then, the Secretary- 1 and the commander performed the ritual of golden and silver showers. Afterwards, the Secretary- 1 attended the ceremony to offer provisions to four Kyaungtaiks at Myatswedaw Dhammayon of Maha Htoopayon Pariyatti Sarthintaik.

The ceremony began with three-time recitation of namo tassa. The Secretary-l accepted K 15 million for construction of Dhammayon of Maha Htoopayon Pagoda and K 2 million for construction of new building of Basic Education High School in Thonze donated by Thiha Thudama Manizotadara U Khin Myint and Daw Than Than Win and family.

Chairman of Bago Division Sangha Nayaka Committee (Maha Dwara) Presiding Sayadaw of Maha Htoopayon Sarthintaik Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta ,Candimabhivamsa delivered a sermon.

The Secretary- 1 and party and well-wishers shared merits gained for the good deeds. The ceremony ended with three-time recitation of Buddha sasanam ciram titthatu.

The Secretary- 1 and party and well-wishers offered soon to the Sayadaws and members of the Sangha. Afterwards, the Secretary-l and party proceeded to Minhla.

This morning, Secretary-l Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt attended opening of the multimedia teaching centre at Minhla Township Basic Education High School.

At the land reclamation project of Thein Shwe Mithazu Company at Htanbingon in Minhla Township, the Secretary- 1 heard a report on monsoon paddy sown acreage and yield in Bago Division, sown acreage of cold season crops, cultivation of beans and pulses and upgrading of roads and bridges presented by Commander Maj-Gen Tin Aye.

Director of the company U Khin Myint reported on the project to reclaim 17,339 acres in Minhla, Moenyo and Okpo townships, plans to reclaim land, progress of reclamation work, agricultural plans for 1999-2000, cooperation with farmers, future programmes and requirements.

Deputy Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Brig-Gen Khin Maung and Deputy Minister for Construction Brig-Gen Myint Thein explained plans to render assistance. The Secretary-l said in the past, only late-monsoon paddy can be cultivated in the area due to floods. At present, there is much progress in agriculture due to participation of national entrepreneurs in the sector with the use of modern equipment and techniques. As the national entrepreneurs are providing quality strains and modern techniques to local farmers, regional farming is gaining significant development. Local farmers should strive with added momentum for gaining more progress at the time assistance is being rendered to them for boosting produce and improvement of living standards. As the government is rendering assistance, national entrepreneurs should strive for success of their projects. The government is endeavouring for national all-round progress and development of human resources in bringing out intellectuals and intelligentsia.

In Taikkyi Township, the Secretary-l and party inspected land reclamation, digging of fish breeding ponds and summer paddy cultivation at the farm of Yangon City Development Committee at Uto-Kyain region. They then inspected construction of a 25-ton capacity rice mill of YCDC.

At the Central Station, they inspected cultivation of foreign and local high yield paddy strains. On arrival at Club House, they inspected construction of a small reservoir to supply water to Uto Farming Project.

At the Club House, they heard a report on the area of Uto-Kyain Farming project, soi1 condition, land reclamation, late-monsoon paddy cultivation, cultivation and harvesting: of summer paddy, cultivation of sesame and jute, guidance given by Head of State Senior General Than Shwe during his inspection of the project, use of high-yield paddy strains, fish breeding in Twantay and Maubin townships, poultry farming in Mingaladon Township, building of roads in Uto-Kyain region and other regional development undertakings.

The Secretary- 1 and party inspected the Club House. They arrived back herein the evening.


(5) Secretary-l attends opening of multimedia teaching  centre of Basic High School in Minhla

YANGON, 18 Feb-A ceremony to open the rooms of multimedia teaching centre was held at Basic Education High School in Minhla this morning, attended by Chairman of Myanmar Education Committee Secretary-l of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt.

Also present on the occasion were member of the State Peace and Development Council Chairman of Bago Division Peace and Development Council Commander Maj-Gen Tin Aye, ministers, and the township education officer, members of School Board of Trustees, members of Parent-Teacher Association, well-wishers, school heads, teachers and students.

Headmistress Daw Hla Hla and Chairman of SBT U Win Hlaing formally opened the multimedia teaching centre of the school.

Then, the Secretary-l unveiled the sign-board of the multimedia teaching centre of the school.

Afterwards, the Secretary- I and party inspected computer aided instruction, computer application e-mail, video system close circuit television studio, audio system, close circuit television unit, reading comer, painting studio, domestic science room and music room and skill demonstration of students.

Next, a ceremony to mark opening of multimedia teaching centre of the school was held at May Kha Hall of the school.

The Headmistress reported on endeavours for opening of multimedia teaching centre to enable the students to have all-round development and learning of international academic standard and matters related to modem teaching aids installed in the rooms.

Then, Chairman of SBT U Win Hlaing reported on leadership of local authorities to open the multimedia teaching centre and assistance of parents and well-wishers.

Afterwards, Commander Maj-Gen Tin Aye and Minister U Than Aung accepted K I million donated by Managing Director U Inya of Kyun Shwewa Co of Yangon, K 1 million by Managing Director U Khin Myint of Thein Shwe Family Exports Co, K 300,000 by Minhla Motor Transport Association, K 136,500 by Daw Than Tin through Deputy Minister for Hotels and Tourism Brig-Gen Aye Myint Kyu and K 100,000 by proprietor of Shwe Pyi Soe Oil Mill U Kyee Yin of Minhla.

The Secretary- 1 presented video tape on Maha Buddhology to the Headmistress for the school. Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary-l thanked local authorities, members of School Board of Trustees, parents, teachers and well-wishers for opening of the multimedia teaching centre at Minhla Basic Education High School.

Today, the world is making progress with momentum, so, efforts are being made not to let the nation stay behind others.

Programmes are being implemented for well-rounded education of school youth who will lead the future nation. Success has been achieved in so short a time due to assistance of parents, members of School Board of Trustees and well-wishers.

In conclusion, the Secretary-1 urged them to systematically nurture the student youths to be turned out as intellectual and intelligentsia of the nation. Later, the Secretary- 1 posed for documentary photo with authorities of the school and students.


(6) Central Administrative Committee for State Pariyatti Sasana Tekkathos meets

YANGON, 18 Feb-The Central Administrative Committee for State Pariyatti Sasana Tekkathos held its No 1/2000 meeting at the Rector s Office of State Pariyatti Sasana Tekkatho (Yangon) this afternoon.

Present were Joint Secretary of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Vice-Chairman Sayadaw (1) of Central Administrative Committee Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Kesara, Joint Secretary of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Vice-Chairman Sayadaw (2) of Central Administrative Committee Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Candima, hector Sayadaws of State Pariyatti Sasana Tekkathos (Yangon and Mandalay), Pro-Rector Sayadaws, Registrar Sayadaws, Minister for Religious Affairs U Aung Khin, Director-General of Religious Affairs Department Dr Myo Myint, Director-General of Department for Promotion and Propagation of the Sasana U Sann Lwin and members and officials.

Vice-Chairman Sayadaw (1) of Central Administrative Committee Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Kesara made an opening address.Minister U Aung Khin supplicated on religious matters. Secretary of the committee Director-General U Sann Lwin approved the minutes of the meeting 2/99 and presented points of the previous meeting.

Then, the meeting end with concluding remarks by Vice-Chairman Sayadaw (1) of Central Administrative Committee Bhaddanta Kesara.


(7) Special Refresher Course No 3 for Judicial Officers concludes 

YANGON, 18 Feb-The Special Refresher Course No 3 for Judicial Officers concluded at the Central Institute of Civil Service in Hlegu Township this morning with an address by Chief Justice U Aung Toe.

Also present on the occasion were Attorney-General U Tha Tun, Auditor-General Brig-Gen Tin Aye, Chairman of the Civil Service Selection and Training Board Dr Than Nyunt and members, Deputy Chief Justice U Aung Toe said it is the third time the special refresher course for judicial officers have been conducted with the objectives of enabling them to carry out duties related to the administration of justice by combining political, economic, social and administrative outlooks in accord with the existing laws, bye-laws, rules and regulations, orders and directives and ensuring the judicial system in which people place their trust.

He called on them not to lose sight of the policies practise by the Government, to cooperate with other departments and bodies to ensure correct and speedy disposal of cases in accord with law and to mete out deterrent punishment.

.Then, prizes were presented to outstanding trainees. The trainees donated K 5,000 each for all-round renovation of Koenawin Pagoda of CICS, the trust fund of the pagoda, the construction of Dhammayon of the pagoda, the restoration of ancient Bagan pagodas, the National Convention, the Union Solidarity and Development Association and the primary school of CICS.


(8) Workshop on computer maintenance course opened

YANGON, 18 Feb-The trainees of Computer Maintenance Diploma Course of Institute of Computer Science and Technology opened the workshop at the institute this morning.

Present were Deputy Minister for Science and Technology Brig-Gen Thura Aung Ko, directors-general and deputy directors-general, directors, Rector of Institute of Computer Science and Technology Dr Paik Tin, professors and heads of department.

Deputy Head of Department U Aung Aung Thein made an opening address. Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Thura Aung Ko pressed the button to unveil the work-shop exhibition. The exhibition continues tomorrow.


(9) Eye specialists team gives treatment in Singaing, Kyaukse 

YANGON, 1 8 Feb- The Ministry of Health is making arrangements for implementation of its aims to render health care service to the people of rural areas in accord with the policy of the National Health Committee. An ophthalmologists team, together with local eye specialists and health staff, performed advanced operations on the people who could not receive treatments for eye diseases in States and Divisions.

An ophthalmologists team led by Professor Dr Than Aung of Ophthalmology Department of Yangon Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital arrived at Primary Eye Health School in Singaing on 14 February and made arrangements to conduct the field tour and to give treatments. At Kyaukse Hospital, the team successfully performed operations on 21 patients on 14 February without charges and 24 on 15 February. The Ministry of Health and Myit Ta Oo clinic of Yangon donated medicines and medical equipment for treatments. Similarly, Dr Sein Win of  Kyaukse, together with 10 second year MMedSc (Ophthalmology) of Yangon Institute of Medicine-l, conducted operations and gave talks on health education to the people in villages of Kyaukse, Myittha, TadaU and Singaing Townships.


(10)  Medical equipment for Children s Hospital

YANGON, 18 Feb - A ceremony to donate medical equipment for children of the Children s Hospital was held at the hospital in Dagon Township this morning.

Present were officials of the Ministry of Health and Health Department, Medical Superintendent Dr Mya Thein and officials, well-wishers Mr Katsumi Moro and members of Basic Human Needs Association (BHN)of Japan and guests.

First, well-wishers Mr Katsumi Moro explained the donation. Then, Mr Katsumi Moro presented a Serum Bilirubinometer and AC Voltage Down Transformer worth K 1.8 million to Dr Mya Thein.

Medical Superintendent Dr Mya Thein presented a certificate of honour to well-wishers and thanked the officials.


(11)  UMFCCI President meets Japanese delegation

Y ANGON, 18 Feb-General Secretary of U Zaw Min Win of Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry, CEC members U Sein Win Hlaing and U Tun Aung and Executives received a ten-member Japanese delegation led by Mr Tamaki Jiro of Nabari-Shi, Mie at the federation building at 3 pm today.

General-Secretary U Zaw Min Win explained role of the federation, functions,situation of Myanmar economy and opportunities trade and investment in Myanmar. The queries on economic sector raised by Mr Tamaki Jiro and party were answered.


(12)  40 Tatkon Township NLD members resign of own accord

YANGON, 18 Feb?Forty members resigned from the National League for Democracy of Tatkon Township, Mandalay Division. Forty members of Tatkon Township NLD, Mandalay Division, of their own accord, resigned by sending letters of resignation to Tatkon Township Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission Office and the party concerned on 28 December 1999 as they no longer wished to participate in party politics of NLD.
