(1)    Minister  meets MD of TransAsian  Air (Australia) Pty Ltd

YANGON, 9 Sept - Minister for  Transport  Maj-Gen  Hla Myint Swe met Managing Director of TransAsian  Air  (Australia)  Limited Mr Antony H Griffin who  called at his office at 1 pm today.  Also present  at the call were Deputy  Minister  Brig-Gen  Kyaw  Myint and  Managing  Director U Tin Hlaing Hmi of  Myanma Air  Ways.

(2)    Minister meets visitors from PRC and India

 YANGON, 9 Sept - Minister for  Industry-l  U Aung Thaung met  President of China Mass  Development Corporation  and Complete  Machinery & Equipment Engineering Bureau, Yunnan Provincial Government of People's  Republic of China Mr Carola  Auyang and  party  who  called  at his  office  at 3 pm today.  Similarly,  Minister  for  Industry-l  U Aung  Thaung  met  Managing Director  of  Alfa Estates Pvt Ltd of India Mr S P Khetan and party who  called at his  office at 4 pm  today.  Also present at the call were  directors-general  and managing-directors of  departments and enterprises.

(3)    Ploughing for monsoon paddy completed  in Patheingyi

 YANGON, 9 Sept - A ceremony to complete ploughing for monsoon paddy was held at the farm of farmer U Aung Win in  Myananda  Village  in  Patheingyi Township on 5 September.  On the  occasion  were Chairman of Mandalay Division Peace  and Development Council Commander of Central Command Maj-Gen Ye Myint.  The commander inspected pilot cultivation of paddy.

(4)    Minister attends opening ceremony of Pyapon  branch of Myanma Livestock and Fisheries  Development Bank Ltd

 YANGON,  9 Sept  -  Minister  for  Livestock  and  Fisheries  Brig-Gen  Maung Maung Thein,  attended  the opening  ceremony of Pyapon  branch of Myanma  Livestock and Fisheries  Development  Bank Ltd on  Bogyoke  Street in Pyapon in  Ayeyawady  Division  yesterday morning.  The minister and  party  inspected  the bank.  The minister and party then  also attended the opening ceremony of Ice Factory  and  Chanmyay Ayeya  Cold Storage  of  Pyapon  Pinlekyapaik Co in Chaungtwin  Village in Pyapon.  Minister  Brig-Gen  Maung  Maung  Thein  formally  opened  the  factory  and  inspected  it.  In the  afternoon,  the minister and party  inspected the  Cold Storage Factory of Pyilone Chantha Tradition  Ohnbin Village in Dedaye  Township.  The minister  attended  to  their  needs  and inspected the  factory.  Then, the minister and party arrived at  the office of Pyapon District Fisheries  Department.  He met staff of Fisheries Department  and gave instructions to them.

(5)    K 2.1imillion donated to USDA Headquarters  hailing annual general meeting of USDA

 YANGON, 9 Sept -  Well-wishers  donated  cash and  books  to  Union Solidarity and Development  Association Headquarters at the Headquarters this  afternoon  hailing the annual general  meeting of  USDA 1999.  Altogether 210  well-wishers  donated  K-2.1 million. Secretary-General  of USDA  Minister for  Education U Than Aung  accepted the  donations and spoke words of thanks.

(6)    Kachin  State  Union  Solidarity  and Development Association holds Annual General  Meeting

 YANGON, 9 Sept - The Annual  General  Meeting  of  Kachin  State Union  Solidarity  and  Development  Association for 1999 was held in the Town Hall in  Myitkyina  on 6 September  morning,  attended  by  member of the Panel of Central  Patrons  of Union  Solidarity and Development  Association Patron of  Kachin  State Union  Solidarity  and  Development  Association Commander of Northern Command Maj-Gen  Kyaw Win.  According  to the  agenda,  Patron  of  Kachin  State Union  Solidarity  and  Development  Association Commander of Northern Command Maj-Gen
 Kyaw  Win delivered  an  address.  The  morning  session of the Annual  General  Meeting of Kachin  State USDA concluded after, Commander of Northern  Command  Maj-Gen Kyaw Win  presented  gifts to on  Solidarity and Development  Association  who were  outstanding in their work.  Commander of Northern  Command  Maj-Gen Kyaw Win and wife,  Rector U Win  Maung and Prof U Khin Maung Swe presented K50,000  to Ma Kay  Thwe  Lin,  who is a  student  of  the  university.

(7)    Commander attends opening ceremony of new  building of BEPS No 10 in Lashio

 YANGON,  9 Sept - The  opening  ceremony  of  new building of Basic Education Primary School No 10 in Lashio in Shan State  (North) was held at the school  on  Ward  5 in  Lashio  on  5  September morning.  Commander Maj-Gen Thiha Thura Tin Aung Myint Oo, Minister  Col Tin Hlaing and  Managing Director of Asia World Co Ltd U Tun Myint  Naing formally  opened the new building. The commander,  minister  and  party  inspected  the school  ,  Well-wishers  donated  new  building. Commander  Maj-Gen Thiha Thura Tin Aung Myint Oo and  Minister  Col  Tin  Hlaing accepted the donations.  The new  building  worth K 9 million was constructed by Asia World Co  Ltd.

(8)    Foreign military attaches,  Tatmadaw officers  play friendly golf

 YANGON, 9 Sept -  Foreign  military  attaches  in Yangon and  officers of the  Ministry of Defence played  friendly Golf Course this morning.  Dean of the foreign military  attaches Col Vladimir I Kontchakov  of  Russian Federation, Tatmadaw (Army,  Navy  and  Air) officers  and  foreign military  attaches  took  part  in the  friendly match.

(9)     Ancient jewellery and artistic antiques  exhibition continues

 YANGON, 9 Sept - Ancient  jewellery  and artistic  antiques  exhibition sponsored  by  Archaeology  Department continued at the multi-purpose hall of  the  National  Museum on Pyay  Road for the third  day today.  Minister  for  Education U Than Aung,  officials  and  people  visited  the  exhibition.  Antiques  and  jewellery  of Bronze  Age and Pyu,  Bagan, Innwa,  Konbaung and Yadanabon Eras are on  display at the exhibition.  The exhibition  opens  from  10  am  to  3.30  pm  till  12 September.  Admission  is free.  Books on Myanma  culture and  arts  are available at  the Department of  Archaeology and Department of Cultural  Institute  bookshops.

(10)     Opium seized in Phakant

 YANGON,  9  Sept  - A  combined  team  comprising  members of regional intelligence unit and Myanmar  Police Force  searched  the house of U Gan Sai in  Ayemyatha  Ward,  Phakant  Township on 27 August.  They seized two packets of opium  weighing  3.002  kilos from owner  Maung  Maung, son of U Chit Tin  of Hngetpyawdaw  Ward in Phakant and Ma Hsai Mai,  daughter  of U La Ga Tu  of  the  same  township.  Action is taken  against them  according  to law.

(11)     31 members resign from Launglon Township NLD

 YANGON, 9 Sept - Thirty-one members resigned from  the  National  League for  Democracy  of Launglon  Township,  Taninthayi  Division. Thirty-one  members  of  Launglon  Township  NLD,  Taninthayi  Division,  of their  own  volition,  resigned  by  sending  letters of  resignation  to the Township  Multiparty  Democracy General Election Commission  and the party  concerned  on 18 July 1999 as they  no longer wished to participate in party politics  of NLD.
