(1) Trust-funds set up for poor and needy in-patients of Sanpya Hospital (Thingangyun)

YANGON, 29 Aug - A Ceremony to set up trust-funds for poor and needy in-patients of Sanpya Hospital (Thingangyun) was held at the hospital this afternoon, and Chairman of the National Health Committee Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt attended the ceremony and accept cash donations.

Also present were Ministers member and officials of the Office of the State Peace and Development Council, directors-general, rectors, medical superintendents and doctors of departments and hospitals under the Ministry of Health, donors and guests.

Maj-Gen Ket Sein accepted the donation and presented a certificate of honor to the Secretary-1.

Donations were over K 9 million including K 1 million by Yangon City Development Committee, K 100,000 by family of the Ministry of Industry-2, K 1 million each by U Aung Bo Win-Thiha Thudama Theingi Thin Thudama Theingi Daw Nang Than Htwe, Asia World Co Ltd and Asia Pacific Edible Oil Co Ltd, K 900,000 by U Maung Weik (Myanmar Hongliang Company), K 5000,000 by Yuzana Construction, K 300,000 each by Tawwin Family Company, Ve Ve Tamarind Juice and Shwethanlwin Construction Company, K 200,000 each by Bender Company, Yathacho Industries Ltd, Ko Gyi Preserve, Peace Myanmar Group Co Ltd, Dagon International Company and Dr Them Myint (Oasis Construction), K 100,000 each by Wa Wa Win Construction, University Avenue Special Clinic, Medi Tech Co Ltd, Dr Soe Aung and family.

(2) Qualification Round 70 Metre 72 Arrow events of 1998 World Ranking Asia Archery Circuit First Round Competition begin

YANGON, 29 Aug - Qualification Round 70 Metre 72 Arrow events of 1998 World Ranking Asia Archery Circuit First Round Competition were held at Youth Training Centre in Thuwunna this morning, attended by Patron of Organizing Committee for the 1998 World Ranking Asia Archery Circuit First Round Competition Chairman of Myanmar National Olympic Council Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt.

Present also were Minister for Industry-2 Maj-Gen Hla Myint Swe, Minister for Home Affairs Col Tin Hlaing, Minister for Hotels and Tourism Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, Minister for Sports Brig-Gen Sein Win, Minister for Health Maj-Gen Ket Sein, Mayor U Ko Lay, officials of the Office of the State Peace and Development Council, Patrons of Myanmar Women's Sports Federation, departmental heads, Vice-President of the International Archery Federation President of international Archery Judges Association Mr Don Lovo, Vice-President of the Asian Archery Federation Mr Sanguan Kosavinta, President of Myanmar Archery Federation U Khin Shwe and EC members, members of the Leading Committee for Organizing Competition, officials of Ministry of Sports and sports fans.

Twenty six archers took part in women's event. Ms Liupi Yu of Chinese Taipei-A won gold medal, Ms Heying of China-A silver and Ms Wang Hong of China-B bronze.

Altogether 28 archers participated in men's event. Mr Tang Hua of China-A won gold, Mr Yang Bo of the same team second and Mr Chang Chia Bin of Chinese Taipei-A third.

The competition continues tomorrow.

(3) Families of Tatmadaw, well-wishers donate dry rations to Muslim Home for the Aged, Kyaungtaiks

YANGON, 29 Aug - A ceremony to donate rice, edible oil, salt, gram and medicines to Muslim Home for the Aged was held at the Home on Pyithaya Street in Thingangyun Township this morning, and Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development Council Chief of Bureau of Special Operations Chief of Staff (Army) Lt-Gen Tin Oo attended the ceremony and fulfilled the requirements of the Home.

Present also were Minister at the Office of the Prime Minister Brig-Gen Lun Maung, senior military officers, Deputy Minister for Labour U Kyaw Aye, Vice-Chairman of Yangon City Development Committee Vice-Mayor Col Maung Pa, Officer on Special Duty at the Office of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Col Than Tint and officials, chairman of the Administrative Committee of the Home and members.

Haji Maulana Hafez Hussein (a) U Kyaw Win formally opened the ceremony, and Chairman of the Administrative Committee of the Home Maulana Abdijl Wahab U Ba Cho extended greetings.

Senior military officers presented rice donated by families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) to officials of the Home.

Then, YCDC, Yangon East District and Thingangyun Township Peace and Development Councils, organizations and well-wishers donated rice, edible oil, salt, gram and medicines.

The Secretary-2 and officials accepted chairs donated by Grand Win Company Ltd, K 50,000 by Shwemyanmar Investment Company, K 30,000 by Contractor Haji Abdul Hakeem, K 25,000 by Haji U Khin Maung Than (Networked Company), K 20,000 by U Hla Win (Grand Win Company Ltd), K10,000 by Haji Abdul Bari U Ba Yi and K20,000 by Wunna Kyaw Htin Haji U Sein Win.

(4) CEC member meets Ward and Village USDA members in Taungtha

YANGON 29 Aug - CEC member of the Union Solidarity and Development Association Minister for Industry-1 U Aung Thaung met members of Ward and Village USDAs, service personnel and towns elders at the town hall in Taungtha Township, Myinggyan District, on 28 August.

He also attended the prize distribution ceremony for students who passed with distinctions in Basic Education High School Examination in 1997-98.

U Aung Thaung said ensure peace and security and endeavors for national development, adding that the government has also been implementing development of agriculture as the base and all-round development.

(5) Academy award statues, cash donated for Myanma Motion Picture History Museum

YANGON, 29 Aug - A ceremony to donate cash and Academy award statues for Myanmar Motion Picture History Museum was held at the office of Myanma Motion Picture Asiayon on Wingaba Road in Bahan Township this morning.

Present were Chairman of Yangon City Development Committee Mayor Ko Lay, Deputy Minister for Information Brig-Gen Aung Them, Director-General U Khin Maung Htay of Myanma Radio and Television, Managing Director U Than Maung of Printing and Publishing Enterprise, Managing Director U Tin Kila of News and Periodicals Enterprise, chairman, patron, and members of Leading Committee for the museum, vice-chairmen and CEC members of Myanmar Motion Picture Asiayon, actors and well-wishers.

Mayor U Ko Lay, Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Aung Them and officials accepted seven Academy award statues, about K 700,000 and one mobile camera donated by directors, film artistes, proprietors of the cinema hall, film company, producers and cameraman. Director

U Thu Kha donated six statues and Vice-Chairman-2 U Myint Naing one.

Chairman of Leading Committee for Myanma Motion Picture History Museum U Hia Myo briefed those present on the purpose of the donation. Vice-Chairman-2 U Myint Naing of the Asiayon thanked officials.

Later, the mayor, deputy minister and guests viewed booths in the museum.

(6) Fish for Ziwitadana Sangria Hospital, Hninsigon Home for the Aged

YANGON, 29 Aug - Administrative Director U Tun Shein of CIT International Trading Ltd of 238, Upper 35th Street, donated 290 viss of fish worth K 100,000 for warded members of Sangha and Nuns to U HIa Thein, member of Administrative Committee of ziwitadana Sangha Hospital, on 17 August.

U Tun Shein also donated 300 viss of fish worth K 150,000 to Hninsigon Home for the Aged.

Officials concerned presented certificates of honour to the donor.

(7) New mini golf course to be opened at Shukhintha Amusement Park

YANGON, 29 Aug - Chairman of Yangon City Development Committee Mayor U Ko Lay today inspected construction of a mini golf course at Shukhi-tha Amusement Park.

On arrival at the park, he was welcomed by YCDC officials and Administrative Officer of Shukhintha Amusement Park Capt Mm Aung.

The Mayor inspected leveling the ground, lawns and cultivation of shade trees and flowers for a new mini golf course, environs of Shukhintha Jetty, and the swimming pool in the park.

He left instructions on keeping the park always clean and beautiful and maintenance of the machines there.
