(1)   Pha-auk Tawya Yeiktha of International Buddha Sasana Yeiktha Branch opened in Thanlyin,  Nine well-wisher families donate over K 35m for meditation centre

YANGON, 28 June - The opening ceremony of International Buddha Sasana Yeiktha Pha-auk Tawya Yeiktha Branch (Thanlyin) was held in conjunction with the first cash donation ceremony at Saddhamma Jotika Dhammathala Kyaung of the Yeiktha at Phayagon Village Thanlyin Township, Yangon Division, this morning, attended by Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt.

Present were joint Secretary Sayadaw of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Kesara, Pha-auk Tawya Sayadaw Bhaddanta Acinna, other Sayadaws and members of the Sangha, member of the-State Peace and Development Council Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander Maj-Gen Khin Maung Than, Minister for Cooperatives U Aung San, Minister for Hotels and Tourism Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, Minister for Progress of Border Areas and National Races and Development Affairs Col Thein Nyunt, Minister for Education U Than Aung, Minister for Sports Brig-Gen Sein Win, Minister for Health Maj-Gen Ket Sein, Minister for Religious Affairs Maj-Gen Sein Htwa, Chairman of- Yangon City Development Committee Mayor U Ko Lay, Deputy Minister for Education Brig-Gen Soe Win Maung, officials of the State Peace and Development Council office, departmental heads, honorary patrons, members of the panel of patrons, executives of the Committee for Establishment of International Buddha Sasana Yeiktha, yogis, devotees and wellwishers.

(2)   Secretary-l inspects development of Kyauktan Township

YANGON, 28 June - Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt Gen Khin Nyunt inspected development of Kyauktan Township this morning and gave instructions to officials.

Accompanied by member of the State Peace and Development Council Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council Commander Maj-Gen Khin Maung Than, Minister for Hotels and Tourism Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, Minister for Progress of Border Areas and National Races and Development Affairs Col Thein Nyunt, Minister for Health Maj-Gen Ket Sein, Minister for Religious Affairs Maj-Gen Sein Htwa, Chairman of Yangon City Development Committee Mayor U Ko Lay and officials of the Office of the State Peace and Development Council, Secretary-1 Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt arrived at Basic Education High School No.2 in Kjauktan at 10:30 am.

They were welcomed there by Minister for Education U Than Aung, Deputy Minister for Education Brig-Gen Soe Win Maung, heads of department, the Director General of Basic Education Department and officials, members of the District and Township Peace and Development Councils, departmental officials, the Township Education Officer, Headmistress Daw Aye Mya Oo, teachers and pupils.

(3)   Sixth general meeting of Myanmar Citizens Bank

YANGON, 28 June - The sixth general meeting of Myanmar Citizens Bank was held at Yuzana Garden Hotel on Alanpyaphaya Road this afternoon.

Present were officials of Ministry of Commerce, Chairman of Myanmar Citizens Bank U Hla Tin and members of the Board of Directors, officials of government and private banks, guests and shareholders.

Chairman U Hla Tin spoke on the occasion.  The Board of Directors submitted their report and annual statement of accounts for approval

Members of the Board of Directors of "B" shareholders were then elected.

(4)   Magway Division IRD gets new office

YANGON, 28 June - A new office of Head of Magway Division Internal Revenue Department opened in Magway on 27 June.

Present were Minister for Finance and Revenue U Khin Maung Thein, Commander of No.88 LID Brig-Gen Aye Kyway, Chairman of Magway Division Peace and Development Council Col Thein Zaw, Director-General of Internal Revenue Department U Chit Swe, departmental officials and staff.  Minister U Khin Maung Thein spoke.

The minister and Col Thein Zaw formally opened the new building.  In the afternoon, the branch of Myanma Economic Bank opened in Magway.

Present were Minister U Khin Maung Thein, Chairman Col Thein Zaw, Director-General U Chit Swe, Commander Brig-Gen Aye Kyway, General Manager U Aung Myint of MEB and officials. The minister spoke of construction of bank buildings, maintenance and correct and systematic banking services.

The minister, Col Thein Zaw and General Manager U Aung Myint formally opened the branch.

The minister and party met trainees of basic accounting course No.1 at Magway Division Union Solidarity and Development Association office.

Member of the Secretariat U Khin Maung Thein explained the course and organizational matters.

On 28 June, the minister inspected running of banking services at Asia Wealth Bank, Myanmar Livestock and Fisheries Development Bank, Myawady Bank and Myanma Industrial Development Bank in Mandalay.

(5)   International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking observed in Hpa-an

YANGON, 28 June - The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed in Zwegabin Hall, Hpa-an, on 26 June morning. Present were Kayin State, district and township level departmental officials, members of Myanmar Police Force executives and members of Union Solidarity and Development Association, members of Red Cross, Auxiliary Fire Brigade, Maternal and Child Welfare Association and Working Committee for Women's Affairs, local people, heads of school and students totalling 550.  Police Col Win Myaing explained programmes laid down by the State for the eradication of narcotic drugs and international cooperation, Psychiatrist Dr Daw Mya Mya Han of Hpa-an People's Hospital about drug-related diseases and treatment, Police Captain U Tin Htoo of Kayin State Police Force about suppression of drug trafficking and punishments and Assistant Education Officer of Hpaan Township U Mahn Tin Win about cooperation of non-governmental organizations in the fields of treatment and rehabilitation.

(6)   Commemoration talk of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking held

YANGON, 28 June - A talk to commemorate International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was held at Central Midwifery School on Khayaybin Street in Dagon Township on 26 June.

Present were Chairman of Dagon Township Peace and Development Council U Than Win and EC members, departmental officials, Secretary and members of the Union Solidarity and Development
Association, school heads and teachers and nursing trainees 170.

Chairman U Than Win delivered an opening address.

Head of Township Health Department Dr Ohnmar Thwin and Township Police Officer police Captain Chan Aye gave talks on avoiding narcotic drugs.

(7)   Minister checks Bago (main) power sub-station

YANGON, 28 June - Minister for Electric Power Maj-Gen Tin Htut, Assistant Chief Engineer U Win Kyaw of Myanma Electric Power Enterprise and officials inspected 230 KV/33 KV and 60 MVA Bago (main) power sub-station (Kamanat) on 25 June.

The minister gave instructions on regular maintenance of transformers and equipment, engaging agriculture and livestock breeding on manageable scale, worksite safety, security matters and staff welfare.

(8)   Cultivation of paddy discussed in Padaung Township

YANGON, 28 June - Minister for Industry-2 Maj-Gen Hla Myint Swe, accompanied by Directors-general and managing directors under the ministry met officials of Padaung Township Peace and Development Council and 150 farmers of five Village Tracts at No.2 automobile factory of Myanma Automobile and Diesel Engine Industries on 27 June.

They discussed cultivation of paddy during monsoon.

The minister and party went to No.1 machine and equipment factory (Nyaung chaytauk) of Myanma Machine Tool and Electrical Industries and met 70 farmers of seven Village Tracts. The minister discussed full cultivation of paddy in time and supply of fertilizer in coordination with township departmental officials.
