(1)   Most Venerable Dr Kyuse Enshinjoh meets Sayadaws of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee

YANGON, 10 June - The 11-member Japanese delegation led by Most Venerable Dr Kyuse Enshinjoh, Founder Priest of Nenbutsushu Sect, accompanied by Sayadaw Mapala Gama Vipulasara of Sri Lanka, called on member Sayadaws of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee led by Abhidaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidaja Agga Maha Saddhamma jo-tika Bhaddanta Sobhita at Zabudipa Hall in Kaba Aye this evening.  The delegation is here at the invitation of Minister for Religious Affairs Maj-Gen Sein Htwa.  They discussed religious affairs.

Present were Director-General of Religious Affairs Department U Arnt Maung, Director-General of the Department for Promotion and Propagation of the Sasana U Sann Lwin, Deputy Director-General of Religious Affairs Department Dr Myo Myint and officials.

Earlier in the morning, the delegation visited Shwedagon Pagoda and Kyaikhrnawwun Pagoda in Kyauktan Township.

Most Venerable Dr Kyuse Enshinjoh donated Y 100,000 for prayer hall of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee.

(2)   1,253 persons attend computer technology courses of NPE and Forever Group

YANGON, 10 June - A ceremony to mark the conclusion of computer technology training courses jointly conducted by the News and Periodicals Enterprise and Forever Group took place at the National Theatre on Myoma Kyaung Street here this morning attended by Minister for Information Maj-Gen Kyi Aung.

Also present on the occasion were Deputy Minister for Culture U Soe Nyunt, advisers of the Ministry of Information U Kyaw Sunn and U Myo Thant, Director-General of Myanma Radio and TV U Kyi Lwin, Director-General of Information and Public Relations Department Lt-Col Chit Naing, Managing Director of Printing and Publishing Enterprise U Than Maung, Managing Director of News and Periodicals Enterprise U Tin Kha, Managing Director of Myanma Motion Picture Enterprise U Tin Pe, Officer on Special Duty Col Bo Kyi, Economics Adviser U Hla Kyin, Director (Administration) U Soe Win of NPE, Head of Office of the Ministry of Information U Khin Maung Myint, officials, guests, the Executive Director, responsible personnel and-staff of Forever Group, trainees and relatives.

(3)   Electric Power delegation leaves for PRC

YANGON, 10 June - At the invitation of the Government of People's Republic of China, Myanmar delegation led by Minister for Electric Power Maj-Gen Tin Htut left here by air this afternoon.

The minister and party were seen off at Yangon International Airport by Minister for Finance and Revenue U Khin Maung Thein, Ambassador of China Mr Liang Dong and officials of the ministry.

Members of delegation are Director-General U Zaw Win of the Electric Power Department, Deputy Chief Engineer U Tin Aung, Assistant Chief Engineer U Win Kyaw and Project Manager U Wan Kyi of the Myanma Electric Power Enterprise, Director U Ohn Khaing of the Irrigation Department of Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, Tactical Operations Commander Col Maung Maung Swe of South-West Command, Maj Hla Thet Maung of the Directorate of Defence Services Intelligence, Capt Tun Lin Oo of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and PSO to the minister Capt Maung Maung Soe.

(4)   Deputy Minister for Transport inspects airports

YANGON, 10 June - Deputy Minister for Transport Brig-Gen Kyaw Myint and officials of Department of Civil Aviation inspected runway of Myitkyina Airport on 7 June.

The deputy minister inspected the office of Myitkyina Township Manager of Inland Water Transport and boats at the ports.  He gave instructions on mechanical maintenance and increase of income.

On 8 June, the deputy minister and party inspected runway of Bhamo Airport.

The deputy minister inspected waterway and Pyigyidagun-3 plying between Bhamo and Mandalay on 9 June.

On 10 June, he inspected construction of run way, airport terminal and control tower and fuel tank at Mandalay International Airport Project.

He also inspected purified water and pumping station under construction for the airport at Hsinkyon Village in TadaU Township.

(5)   Syringes presented to MMCWA

YANGON, 10 June - Mr Jiro Shiobara of Japan presented 1,000 disposable syringes worth Yenn 50,000 to Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association at MMCWA multi-purpose building at the corner of Parami Road and Thanthuma Street in South Okkalapa Township.

Mr Jiro Shiobara the presented gift to Chairperson of MMCWA Professor Daw Kyu Kyu Swe who thanked the donors.

Present were EC members of MMCWA.

(6)   Affiliated High School opens in Kyaukpadaung Township

YANGON. 10 June - An Affiliated Basic Education High school opened at Pwaykyit Village in Kyaukpadaung Township, Mandalay Division on 8 June.

CEC member of the Union Solidarity and Development Association Minister for Industry-1 U Aung Thaung formally opened the archway of-the school and planted a tree to mark the opening of the school.

Present were Chairman of Myingyan District Peace and Development Council Lt-Col Ye Swe, Chairmen of Myingan and Taungtha Township Peace and Development Councils and members, Secretaries and EC members of Township USDAs, organizers, USDA members, Mandalay Division Education Officer (Inspection) and local residents.

(7)   Minister inspects IWT services at Kaingdan and Pansodan jetties

YANGON, 10 June - Chairman of the Supervisory Committee for Myanma Railways and In land Water Transport Services to Operate Full Capacity Minister at the Office of the Prime Minister Maj-Gen Tin Ngwe visited the IWT Delta Branch Office this morning.

He was welcomed by Managing Director of IWT U Tun Aung Myint, members of the Supervisory Committee and officials.

Later, at the IWT Division Manager's Office, Maj-Gen Tin Ngwe heard reports on safety of IWT boats, convenience of passengers, boosting earnings and minimizing loss and wastage by officials. He told them to cooperate with the Supervisory Committee to earn according to the volume of freight and render services fully.

The minister and party then inspected freight handling of boats anchored at the Kaingdan Jetty, passengers' waiting-room and ticket sales counters. They made arrangements to facilitate the sale of tickets and to earn fully. They met the passengers and enquired about the difficulties.

They proceeded to the Pansodan Jetty and inspected the Pansodan-Dalla ferry ticket sale counter and the waiting-rooms. They boarded the Pansodan-Dalla ferry and travelled to Dalla side. On board, they inspected transport of passengers. On reaching Dalla side, they gave instructions on convenience of passengers. They returned to Pansodan by ferry in the afternoon.

(8)   Minister for CPI receives foreign businessmen

YANGON, 10 June - Minister for Communications, Posts and Telegraphs Brig-Gen Win Tin received General Manager Mr K Susa of Nichimen Corporation (Yangon Branch) of Japan and Director (International Sales) Mr Michael W Ueltzen of Enterprise Electronics Corporation of US at his office at 11 am today.

Present also were Director-General U Htay Aung of Meteorology and Hydrology Department, Project Manager U Ye Win of Myanma Posts and Telecommunications and officials.

(9)   Yadana Shwephi transport service launches

YANGON, 10 June - Yadana Shwephi passenger and cargo transport service was launched in Panglong, Shan State on 8 June morning.  It will run on the new road linking Panglong in Shan State and Pyinmana in Mandalay Division.

Present on the occasion were Chairman of Shan State Peace and Development Council Commander of Eastern Command Brig-Gen Maung Bo, departmental officials, USDA, Red Cross and Fire Brigade members and local people totalling over 3,500.

Commander Brig-Gen Maung Bo spoke on the occasion and formally launched the transport service.

Similarly, a ceremony to inaugurate transport service was held in Pyinmana that morning, attended by Chairman of Mandalay Division Peace and Development Council Commander of Central Command Maj-Gen Ye Myint who formally launched it.

Also present were Col Thein Swe of Pyinmana Station, senior military officers, local authorities, USDA members and local people totalling over 3,000.

The new route between Pyinmana and Panglong is over 70 miles long. Travellers from Pyinmana had to use the former route, over 200 miles long, to get to Panglong via Meiktila. The new one cut by 130 miles between the two towns.

Bus fare is K 400 per head.- The buses leave Pyinmana every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and Panglong every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Commander Maj-Gen Ye Myint also attended a ceremony to inaugurate Ngaleik Creek Bridge, which was built on self-reliance, linking Seikhnantone and Pyangabyay villages in Pyinmana Township.

(10)  Plans under way to build University of Culture (Mandalay)

YANGON, 10 June - Minister for Culture U Win Sein inspected a 111-acre plot on Shwezayan Pagoda Road near Mandalay-PyinOoLwin Road where University of Culture (Mandalay) of the Fine Arts Department will be built.

An official of Settlements and Land Records Department briefed him on the project.

Accompanied by officials, the minister gave suggestions on restoration of edifices and paintings at Shwezayan, Pokhala and Popaw pagodas.

The minister and party also inspected conservation of stone inscriptions at Archaeology Department.

They also inspected dance, music and painting classes at Production Division of Fine Arts Department (Mandalay).
