(1) Secretary receives member of Lower House of Germany

YANGON, 9 Apr - Secretary - 1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt received member of Lower House Dr Dietrich Mahlo of Germany at Dagon Yeiktha of the Ministry of Defense at 9 am today.

Present together with the Secretary-l were Minister for Foreign Affairs U Ohn Gyaw, and Director General of Protocol Department Thura U Aung Htet. The guest was accompanied by Ambassador of Germany Dr Wolfgang Wiesner.

(2) Appointment of Pakistan Ambassador agreed

YANGON, 10 Apr - The Government of the Union of Myanmar has agreed to the appointment of Mr Amar Hafeez as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Union of Myanmar in succession to His Excellency Mr Javed Hafiz.

Mr Amar Hafeez is born on 3 September 1956. He has studied at the Hailey College of Commerce and the Punjab University, Lahore, and obtained Masters Degree in Public Administration.

He is at present Chief Executive of M/S Westward International (Private) Limited and Proprietor, Project Engineering Services.

He is a well-known industrialist and a leading businessman in Pakistan.

(3) Secretary-1 receives DG for Foreign Policy, Policy Research Council of LDP of Japan

YANGON, 9 Apr - Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt received Director-General for Foreign Policy, Policy Research Council Liberal Democratic Party Mr Tomomitsu Iwakura of Japan at Dagon Yeiktha of the Ministry of Defense at 10 am today.

Present together with the Secretary-1 were Minister for Foreign Affairs U Ohn Gyaw, Director-General of Protocol Department Thura U Aung Htet and Director General of Political Department U Kin Mange Win.

The guest was accompanied by Ambassador of Barman Mr Kazuo Asakai.

(4) Secretary-1 inspects progress work of Reception Hall at Yangon International Airport

YANGON, 9 Apr - Secretary-l of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt, accompanied by officials of Office of the State Peace and Development Council, inspected the progress of construction work of Reception Hall so far completed at Yangon International Airport this evening.

On arrival at construction site of reception hall at Yangon International Airport at 4.10 pm, the Secretary-l was welcomed by officials of Department of Civil Aviation and Public Works.

The Secretary-l inspected the reception hall where Senior Engineer U Kyaw Lwin of Yangon Division Construction Group.

Director (Architect) of Public Works U Aung Kyee Myint briefed him on progress of works in construction of reception hall and completion on installation of floral arabesque at the hall.

Then, the Secretary-1 gave instructions and left there in the evening.

(5) Minister for Information receives Project Director of Konrad Adenauer Foundation

YANGON, 9 Apr - Minister for Information Maj-Gen Kyi Aung received Project Director of Konrad Adenauer Foundahon Mr Thomas Berno Stehfing of the Philippines at Myanma Radio and Television on on Pyay Road this morning

Present also were Deputy Minister for lnformation Brig-Gen Aung Thein, Director-General of MRTV U Kyi Lwin, Director-General of Information and Public Relations Department Lt-Col Chit Naing, Managing Director of Printing and Publishing Enterprise U Than Maung, Managing Director of Myanma Motion Picture Enterprise U Tin Pe, Director (News) U Hla Tun, standing in for managing Director of News and Periodical Enterprise, Chief Editor of the New Light of Myanmar U Kyaw Min, Director (Broadcast) U Ko Ko Htwe of MRTV, Adviser to the Ministry of Foreign Affair U Hla Maung, Adviser to the Ministry of Information U Myat Thu, Associate Professor of Department of Economic Dr Sein Min of University for Distance Education and Editor of the New Light of Myanmar U Maung Maung Aye.

(6) MWCA new buildings opened in Lashio, Kutkai, Muse

YANGON, 9 Apr - Chairperson of Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association (Central) Professor Daw Kyu Kyu Swe and Vice-Chairperson Dr Khin Win Shwe attended the opening ceremonies of MCWA buildings in Lashio, Kutkai and Muse in northern Shan State on 7 and 8 April.

The opening ceremony of Muse Township MWCA new building and midwifery ward was held in Muse on 7 April. Professor Daw Kyu Kyu Swe formally opened the building and unveiled the signboard.

In the hall of Muse Township MWCA, they held discussions with Muse, Kutkai and Namsam Township MWCA EC members.

Professor Daw Kyu Kyu Swe and Vice-Chairperson of MWCA of North-East Command Daw Mya Mya Than spoke.

Well-wishers donated cash to MMCWA and Muse Township MWCA.

The MMCWA Chairperson and party toured Kutkai Township MWCA and midwifery ward.

On 8 April, they attended the inauguration of Lashio Township MWCA new two-storey building and held discussions with representatives of the MWCAs of 12 townships of northern Shan State.

Well-wishers also donated cash to MMCWA and Lashio Township MWCA on the occasion.
